I used to feed my daughter's rabbit the ham and cheese variety. One day I tried him on a cheese and spinach one. The next morning we found him dead. The vet said it was " mixingmytoasties"!

The British novelist P G Wodehouse created an extremely funny parody of 1930s European fascism, with his character "Sir Roderick Spode" and the Black Shorts, with their demands for centralised state control of root vegetable production! If only he was alive now, to write about the lunatic shenanigans that seem to have seized American politics!

Royal Thai Police suspend welfare gun program indefinitely
herfiehandbag replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
However "unscrupulous" and "police officers" go together like strawberries and cream! -
The "radar" needs calibrating - an operation this size, with this many customers, this much cash, this quantity of drugs held " on site" and even fronted by a white Rolls Royce with red number plates (!) is not exactly low profile!

I was asked to take early retirement, as an injury led to surgery which meant I lost much of the use of my foot ( walking with a stick, struggling with stairs) and frankly, the school got bored with the logistics of accomodating me. The sum they offered was somewhat less than the one which I had worked out I was due, (after advice from the Labour Office); I suggested we took the matter to the Labour Office, whereupon the school settled! I think they have a good reputation here!

Thaksin blames Gen. Prawit for the Tak Bai massacre
herfiehandbag replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It is a "Thaksin thread" where and how does being fair come into it? We must condemn him, whether it was his doing or not, and ignore ( or even in some cases justify) the equally if not more egregious actions of those who overthrew his (elected) government (s) and seized power for themselves! -
The acting ( but quite convincing) Lieutenant Colonel is indeed pleasantly easy on the eye. Ooh chaps, PR is in the pooh again, how about we stick a pretty girl in front of the cameras? It has been tried to my knowledge a couple of times before. She will however need more than charm and good looks to repair the damage done by the collection of grim faced, hard eyed, self enriching and utterly blind to justice creatures who run things! I notice that she is not para trained - I could be persuaded out of retirement to offer jump training...

Yes,of course I realise that. Whilst by no means an expert in fiscal matters I am not a total naif! I am also a realist, and a fairly seasoned observer of how Thai government functions. That is why I remain sceptical about both the level of the reserves, in what and by whom they have been invested, and how available they may be.

A significant part of this governments power base is it's close alliance with the civil service. Giving the civil service control at (up to) provincial level, without any sort of elected direction or oversight keeps them "on side". They can run things to their liking ( and benefit) without interference. It also removes another route for political opposition and dissent! Can you imagine the problems if swathes of the country were run by elected governors who wanted things done differently - for a regime as centralised and dictatorial as this one it would be a nightmare!

Path to re-election? Identify opposition parties. Arrange bans of key individuals and possibly even whole parties, to be enacted close to the election date. Post election continue counting, recounting, reallocating, interpreting and banning individuals, and if necessary parties until the incumbents, along with their inbuilt majority in the senate, are secure. Hold available the option of instituting as state of emergency (COVID hasn't gone away you know, but there are bound to be other reasons as well) in case those you have disenfranchised take it a bit personally.

I think he probably meant that there were no documents for importing them. I am sure that the good General has taken them under his wing to spare the bereaved family any distress in dealing with the matter. What a noble gesture. He really is a "bon oeuff" as Phillipe Patek would say... NB: the predictive text corrected the last line to "Phillipe Patel" - probably correct given the provenance of most of the " luxury watches" knocking around the country!

I believe they do, although as others have said there are schemes in place for them to be bought through the force on the "never never". Not far from where I live there is an old quarry used by the RTP as a range. I have heard rifles, light automatic weapons and grenade launchers being fired. Back when the last coup was staged sandbagged emplacements were set up outside a local police posts. The blokes manning them had old M16s. The emplacements were pretty useless, one single layer of sandbags waist high, sentries looking across rather than down the road, into a treeline 30 metres across the road, the rear of the emplacement within a few metres of a tree lined ditch giving a covered approach. Still it looked "Gucci '! I think that the main police stations are well supplied with weapons. They love their paramilitary trappings. I doubt that this episode is the only one of its kind!

That's what I do. The plastic safety razor holder from 7/11. Blades come in packs and are cheap. I wash my face, then rub a few drops of virgin (?) coconut oil into my face, old fashioned shaving brush, bar of soap and a plastic mug. Each blade lasts a week+. Cheap as chips, and leaves me smelling and looking hansum - at least that is what the lady I fancy like mad who runs the local swimming pool says!

If Udom gets an A-, what about friend Srisuwan who has made it his lifetimes work to get anyone who does not support his own particular brand of totalitarian nationalism banged up?

Thailand abstained on UN vote to have its voice heard – FM Don

Unfortunately no one was listening! -
Surely it is a fundamental principle that weapons in an arm's kote are at the very least counted daily by a senior person, with the armour present. If let us say 100 weapons belong to that armoury, then 100 should be present, or properly signed out. At regular intervals 100% checks of weapons by registered numbers are carried out. Any weapons signed out and held by individuals are also produced by the holders, checked by registered numbers and inspected. Sergeant Somchai says he knows where all the gats are is not an adequate check!

Completely off topic but I have just noticed his hair in the OP. Bizarrely never noticed it before. It looks for all the world as if he has somehow reversed a mullet to lie forward over his crown! I suppose that ( a vain attempt to claw my way back onto the topic) he needed to charge such inventive rates to raise the funds to pay his hairdresser, who familiar with Mr Trump's business practices demanded cash up front before attempting such an extraordinary and dramatic piece of sculpture!
