Why Do Thai Women Not Like Fishing?
herfiehandbag replied to Neeranam's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
More news - it's not just Thai women, I bloody hate it! -
He may be moved to suitable accommodation within the "prison estate" for his last few weeks, I somehow doubt if that would be recognisably prison. Those here licking their chops at the prospect of seeing the subject of their hatred shuffling around in an oversized tee shirt and shorts, clutching his leg irons, are probably going to have a very bleak Christmas and New Year!

PM Charged With Breaking Law Over 6,000 Baht Gift To Paetongtarn
herfiehandbag replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
This fellow Srisuwan Janya must have been on a special course! After all, no one could be such an idiot, or such an obsessive, naturally! -
If Labour (as looks possible) win the next election then it will be abandoned - the voice of the immigrant vote will see to that. If the Tories (as looks unlikely) win the next election then a combination of infighting within their dysfunctional Parliamentary Party, and opposition from within the "establishment", referred to by some as "the blob", will, as with Brexit, hamstring it.

Taxation of Ex-Pats pensions etc.
herfiehandbag replied to LittleBear57's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Of all the posts in this and related threads, finally one which gives some useful answers! -
Yes absolutely. Legal immigration always has been able to be managed, and there is a valid debate about how strict the controls applied should be. Illegal immigration is effectively unchecked. The staggering incompetence of those supposedly in charge of preventing it, plus the deliberate blocking by parts of the judicial and Civil Services of attempts to curb it, following their own agendas, mean that once the illegal immigrant, without any documentation, sets foot on UK soil then they are effectively free to go. We used to joke in the army that the new rifle introduced in the 1990s (SA80) should have been named for the Civil Service - because it didn't work and couldn't be fired! Don't even mention the "working from home scam!

Policeman In Hot Water For Letting Chinese Tourist Wear Uniform

Fake news - the shirt was nowhere near tight enough! -
Big Brother is on his way.
herfiehandbag replied to Chomper Higgot's topic in UK & Europe Topics and Events
Well yes, you have been totally transparent, so there would be no cause for an investigation. However, the case I postulate is someone receiving a pension (to which he/she is entitled), and claiming Pension Credit, winter fuel allowance, all of which require one to live in the UK, but actually living abroad, and therefore not bothering with a bus pass. Still, it was just a casual thought. -

Presumably the interest in pensioners living overseas is aimed at discovering who is claiming the pension, and various top ups, which overseas resident pensioners are not entitled to! It is difficult to conclude that doing so is not fraudulent! Perhaps a good starting point would be checking those who do not bother with a bus pass? -
Transport Ministry Commits to Full EV Transition
herfiehandbag replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Trolley buses! I had some lunatic friends who took one from Reading to South Wales. Rigged up a generator on the ground floor and off they went. There was some minor interest shown by the constabulary on the Severn Bridge, but they were allowed on their way. Bish ( as was his name) was either a genius or mad as a hatter, I was never sure which! His party piece was keeping the scores for pub darts matches on a blackboard, in Roman numerals! -
Parliament to consult on charter amendment referendum
herfiehandbag replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Short term, nothing must change until the new Senate is installed, medium term only cosmetic changes until the next election. Then if the present outfit manage to stay in, well then, there is obviously no appetite for change! If the progressive movement comes to power: major constitutional crisis, military coup followed by immediate suspension of the obviously flawed constitution, general amnesty for all involved in the coup, and a Junta government for several years whilst a thorough rewrite of the constitution is undertaken. -
Transport Ministry Commits to Full EV Transition

So will there be charging points? Silly me. By 2030 the highways and byways of Thailand will be strewn with exhausted electric buses... -
Corrections Dept Told To Not Handle A House Arrest For Thaksin
herfiehandbag replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It really is somewhat academic. The person doing the "telling/advising" is an ex Democrat MP, using Facebook, which in the current Thai political landscape is about as "ex" as it gets! -
No updates on health of convicted former PM Thaksin
herfiehandbag replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I suspect that they really don't care! In other news, questions are not raised as to why Retired General Prayut lived ( still lives) in an army house for so many years after he retired from the army... -
China Southern Airlines BKK - LHR
herfiehandbag replied to rocky123's topic in UK & Europe Topics and Events
Since you have to fly in the opposite direction to your destination, stopover at an airport further away than Bangkok for several hours, and then "retrace your steps" as it were for several hours on the leg to Birmingham, it may be worth biting the bullet and flying to Heathrow or Gatwick and taking a National Express coach to Birmingham. They are not the "vomit comets" they used to be, in fact they are usually more comfortable and significantly cheaper than the trains! -
The absurdity is magnified by the fact that there is absolutely no evidence whatsoever that the matter was discussed, let alone by those who allegedly raised the matter. It was, you may remember, initially mentioned by Meghan in her interview with Oprah Winfrey, a remark which rather embarrassed her husband (back when he was still ashamed of his behaviour perhaps)? So much of what she said in that interview has since been thoroughly debunked. Now it is being pushed by their bizarre little on and off mouthpiece Scobie, in an attempt to sell his book.

Hmm! Your bucket list includes walking from Udon Thani railway station to the other side of the city at around 2 or 3 am on a weekend morning! You wonder why you attract "weird people"!😃
