Point to note. She resigned as party leader and prime minister before news broke of her and her husband's alleged wrongdoing, possibly in order to protect the nationalist party or more likely not have the humiliation of being expelled and sacked. She knew this was coming. There is no way she could not have known what her husband was doing. Good to see the police acting positively

Seems a strange society where dogs take priority over children and human beings in general. Even if the dog was provoked in some way, it should still be euthanised. It now has a taste for human flesh and knows it can attack children with impunity. I can't see what the child could have done to provoke the dog. If you hit a dog it will move away it's highly unlikely to attack. It's only if you restrain the animal and hurt it at the same time that it will bite to defend itself and try to escape. It seems that this dog actually attacked the child and was not trying to get away

The difference between corruption in the west and corruption in Thailand is that in Thailand it is very obvious and evident at much lower levels of police, civil service and politics i.e. everyone has an opportunity to get a slice of the cake. Western corruption is endemic at the higher levels of government and civil service but it is more subtle and covered up by changing the rules and legalising it. You only have to look at the current UK prime minister's wife who avoided tax quite legally because the method was made legal during the war so that the wealthy empire citizens who came to live in the UK would not have to pay tax on income from foreign sources. All they have to do is say that they intend to be buried in their 'home' country. That is corruption at the highest level.

I believe sentencing is the Judge's prerogative and there seems to be a total lack of consistency of judgement by this cabal of out of touch intellectuals. You have 'hanging Judges on one hand and 'Liberal Judges' on the other. One set is too harsh and the other set is too soft and there's nothing in between

I think more like 90-100 years. This is England of the 1930's or even 1920's 'Yes yr lordship you killed someone with your big beautiful car but in mitigation you were drunk at the time/ You didn't maintain your machinery properly and someone died, but you are a decent chappie of good breeding, so let's call it an accident'.

'a week on Monday' and 'next Monday' are the same. Both are the Monday that follows 'this monday' which is short for 'this coming monday' -

My first Hot Season in Thailand (Just Married in January) and it has to be to be the worst anyone can remember, even in our village. ????I have had air con fitted in the bathroom so I can have a shower and get dry otherwise in a perpetual 'moist' state since I would break out sweating immediately after the shower. -
The sidewalks in Pattaya are dangerous and there are many cracked manhole covers. There have been quite a few reports on this forum of motorcyclists and cars falling into sewer holes where there was no cover. And at least 3 reports of pedestrians getting a foot trapped on a broken drain cover. It wouldn't surprise me if when walking along, minding his own business, that he fell down a sewer hole where the cover had been removed for repair and, as usual, the contractor failed to display adequate warning or protect the public
