I honestly think as foreigners we should not voice public opinion on this topic. It is a very sensitive subject in a very volatile situstion
-
Obviously you haven't read my post properly. False confessions are common, especially in Thailand, if the police can't force a confession they will gladly accept one from anyone so that they look good not caring if the real perpetrator goes free. Many instances of confessions being forced the most notable being Joe Ferrari . Stop jumping on the bandwagon making assumptions you don't know anything
-
It's a reason why there are justice systems. To examine evidence and come to a logical conclusion. Not just make assumptions. There has been at least one report on this forum of people being paid to take the blame for the misdemeanours of others. Every police force in the UK will tell you of incidents when some innocent person tried to take the blame for a crime. Often such people have mental health issues and this 'perpetrator' clearly has such issues
-
It's also possible that this old lag was paid to take the blame by the real perpetrator, hence his refusal to admit to the girl's murder and location of the body (because he didn't know) Many long term inmates of prisons find the outside world scary and lacking in order and want to go back, he will now be in prison for the rest of his life

Move Forward party leader’s political future uncertain
RobU replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
if this is Kosher then the man deserves everything he gets. A thai politician owning such shares is illegal and stupid the Thai people don't need stupid politicians. However it could be that he is running point for his successor, the true leader, so the opposition don't have time to fit up that person or introduce new laws and rules to exclude him/her. -
Sounds to me that he wants his mistresses child to be 'legal' so that she and it are entitled to a share of the military widows pension if he dies. He wants his wife to divorce him and receive nothing but a pension for her child. Thinking in the long term the wife is right not to allow a divorce. If the accomodation is military the his CO should charge him with conduct unbecoming an officer for kicking his pregnant wife out and leaving her nowhere to go.

Man brutally kills 4 stray dogs in southern Thailand
RobU replied to webfact's topic in Southern Thailand News
This is horrid. The poor little doggy-woggies. My heart is broken.. They will never again be able to chase cars and bikes or bite and savage people at will. They will never have the opportunity to attack and kill a child or small animals (including small dogs) that they see as not being part of their pack. Never will they be fed again by stupid morons who put savage wild animals rights above the safety of human beings. I am now going to drown my sorrow perhaps the ache of loss will be eased by 5 or 6 pints of beer???? -

My understanding is that he has only recently been elected as Mayor. He has inherited the results of incompetency and corruption of his predecessors. You are probably correct that October is when the new budget is set. I suspect that until then his hands are tied because his corrupt predecessor spent everything. At least he is engaging with his constituents, which his predecessors did not

I believe this guy is relatively new to the post of Mayor and has inherited the incompetencies of his predecessor. At least he is engaging with his constituents

Facial recognition required for some online services from Thai banks

I recently went to this branch and my wife asked for someone to come down and help. She was repeatedly refused until I got angry and told her to tell them that I would be making a formal complaint and publishing my experience on social media. A polite young very junior member of staff was then sent down to assist me I doubt very much they would make any effort to use a laptop -

Interesting, To get this facility you have to get your photo taken at the bank branch I am disabled, my nearest branch of Bangkok Bank is in Phon Phisai, Nong Khai District. A Beautiful building with 2 long flights of stairs to enter because the main entrance is on the second floor (i.e. 3rd floor for Americans) No handrails whatsoever on the first flight no way for elderly or disabled customers to get into the building Many Bangkok Bank branches are inaccessible This policy is designed to make life difficult for elderly and disabled people -
Pattaya Deputy Mayor Personally Inspects Accident-Prone Thepprasit Road
RobU replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
Similar lack of safety precautions occurred in Phon Phisai, Nong Khai district. The numpties removed 2 sets of traffic lights for months whilst the 212 was being 'improved' and didn't even change the road markings to show which road had priority or indicate that the junctions even existed. So anyone driving along the 212 could easily have had a serious accident at the crossroad because the were not aware and didn't reduce speed. -

Wow! corrupt officials actually being punished. Interesting to note that their corrupt activity was against Thai interests and not fleecing foreigners -
Medicine isn't magic. Medics are taught strict algorithms of diagnosis (i.e.if this then do that) at university and in their post grad training. Human beings are fallible, they forget, they can be lazy and often don't update the algorithms. Sometimes they don't even apply the algorithms and make 'Educated' guesses which can often be wrong. Take all those diagnostic algorithms and put them in a computer program and update them on a yearly basis. The computer program is bound to be better than humans at applying these algorithms

I sent my wife to one near us, very well appointed with it's own off road practice road system, boot camp style 6 continuous days. She passed her test after 5 days but in my opinion she can't drive at all, its just an exam passing school. She needs weeks or months of supervised driving with someone who is not me because I would be scared stiff and we would end up divorcing
