Thanks for all the info Peter Dennis..  My OA  extension is due  mid August. As I am 79 years of age,  I cant get  any insurance. as  we all realise Icant do a border run to change to an O visa, my alternatives at this time appears only to return to Perth, Australia, for which Qatar airlines are offering me a ticket at just over A$6000 one way, BKK/Qatar/Perth,  while Cathay is  m ore generous at A$ 5760 one way, BKK/Hk/Pth...  Can you suggest someway I can   get around this.. I am looking at agents, but with no insurance, who knows..

Some years ago , my  youngest son applied  for a particular course at  our home Uni. Despite  meeting the  exam criteria, he was advised  all positions were taken. A Tutor advised him to enrol in a less popular subject/course, with fewer applicants, then, at the first semester break,usually  after the first 6 months, when many first year students drop out, transfer into his preferred course, as there are always  vacancies then.  He did that. An extra 6 months of study in another field didnt hurt, and saved a year wasted till the following  intake.

Been a reader of TVF  for many years, decided at last to  join in.

Ive made use of the many subjects   and appreciate members 

input. Sure saved me a lot of grief at times..  Lived here over 8 years now,

been a regular visitor since 1988.
