Why bother ? There will never be enough tourists to warrant having a big area of beach
Sadly that is true forcing a vast majority of business's near by to close and property prices to collapse near the beach

- If Vietnam, Cambodia, and the Philippines open up before Thailand that's Thailand finished as a tourist country and the huge loss of all that foreign currency. That's a hell of a hit.
- Lets also not forget that your bucks go a lot further in them countries than Thailand

Has anybody done a survey for those who work in the tourist industry? I thought not

China will not be happy with this Doctors comments, and i have no doubt he will be moved sidewards and not allowed to make any comments in the future.

An interesting read as always.
Talk about the British understatement; this year has been an economic disaster and will likely get worse. Much, much worse.
Yes, the Hi-So and the Upper-Middle classes, mainly in Bangkok, will suffer through having their nails done twice a week rather than the usual three times, but that'll likely be it. And, with that supreme sacrifice on their part, they'll scream bloody murder at 'roughing it' while demanding (and, sadly getting) another tax break or two. On the other side of the tracks (the rest of the kingdom), people will be told to 'go back to the farm' and forgotten, unless of course it seems like they might misbehave and/or want things.
How bad is it already?
Eagle-eyed readers of my posts from the last few years will know that I am a pre-dawn cyclist; I do it for cardio, general health and for pleasure. I am also male, which means that my self-delusion regarding my physique and general attractiveness knows no bounds; in my mind, I put Pitt, Clooney, Connery, and Craig to shame.
(He doesn't. Not by a long shot. Not even close. He's over-weight and donkey-ugly. Ed.)
On my morning cycle, I usually see around twenty people; the regulars are women opening breakfast restaurants, street food sellers, street sweepers, joggers, walkers, etc. and I usually give a smile, or a nod, or a cheery 'Good morning!' to one and all as I pass by. The other day a restaurant woman waved me down and said...
'Do you have a girlfriend? Can I be your girlfriend?'
I immediately thought to myself; WOW! This cycling is really paying off! I wonder if it is my cracking bod, my joyful smile, my sheer dedication at cycling daily at 5 AM or my come-hither bedroom eyes? She then continued...
'...I am not making enough money at the restaurant.'
If that poor woman is already so desperate that she waved me down with the intention of becoming my girlfriend in order to help her get through the next while, then Thailand is in for a seismic shock of biblical proportions.
Thailand is heading into the abyss with no tourists, exports on a sharp decline due to the over valued Baht.

It wont happen. Tourists from Western countries will find other countries to spend their tourist money and get more value for their money

Try to check travel about vietnam, if open or any requirements, etc,,
I think Vietnam has more attractions to stay and experience life there,
Western tourists who use to go to Thailand will flock to Vietnam when it opens it's borders.
Vietnam understandably wants some of them tourist billions money that Thailand doesn't want and so does Cambodia and the Philippines.

afaik, no se asian country is issuing tourist visas
better stay here until they open up.
Once Thailand opens its borders, Laos, Burma, Cambodia, Malaysia will follow
I would suggest that Laos, Burma, Cambodia, Malaysia and the Philippines will open their borders before Thailand to get that tourist money that Thailand is missing out on

There is already a load of beer bars and hotels for sale in Thailand. That's going multiply by 5 at least.

I expect the Vietnam, Cambodia and Philippines will be very happy to pick up farangs when they open their borders soon that Thailand doesn't want.
All them hotel and bar and restaurants workers and taxi drivers are not going to be very happy with the Thai Junta. Thailand losing all them jobs

If this was true they would relax the tourist rules to let more people in the country and rescue the country from the financial black hole it's in the moment.
If you don't test people for covid-19 you wont find people who have covid-19. It's called Thail logic

Thailand is heading into the abyss with a strong baht causing a huge drop in exports and now these tourist measures which will make other countries far more appealing with your money going further and not having to jump through hoops.
The knock on effect is already being felt with taxi drivers struggling to make a living in Bangkok with so few tourist arriving, and lets not forget the restaurants and bars, and without customers and the farmers who supply food to restaurants taking a huge hit as well

I don't think tourists are philanthropists.
Thailand should forget tourism for this year, and maybe next year.
Thailand is killing the goose that lays the golden egg, but they are too dumb to see it

No one like to visit Thailand with the insane measures in place, countries around are laughing with Thailand.
Bali opens in September ....
And the Philippines.
Thailand is going to lose billions of Baht in lost tourism this year and for years to come, when people see how much more they get for their money when they visit other countries, and they won't be coming back.

But the Chinese are the only tourists possible to Thailand for this government. Does not matter that it started in China or the Chinese government lied. Just want the money.
When China tells the Thai government to jump the Thai government say "How high"

They think is hard. Wait until Christmas and the New Year with no fanangs here not buying gifts for their girlfriends and wife's. That will really hurt them.
