A lot of factories have closed due to the overvalued Baht causing exports to plummet.

Americans have butchered the English language and shouldn't be allowed anywhere near any schools in Thiland

The only stupidity currently on show in Australia now are the covidiots of Melbourne who have put their country on the brink of disaster with their behavior. You may be dismissive of the 19 deaths and 322 new cases for Victoria reported today, but it is a gruesome warning for countries like Thailand. Why would Thailand wish to allow selfish irresponsible covidiots into the country? Things were going well for Australia, but a core group just had to ruin it for everyone.
Thailand is prudent and protecting its people from the invasion of disease carriers from the UK, Italy, Russia, India USA and others. Few countries have shown that their populations are responsible , or mature enough to entrust them with the freedom of international travel. I know how many tourists behave and there is no point in asking them to be responsible because they are incapable of doing so. Instead of blaming Thailand, go and hold your countrymen accountable for being selfish prats.

Try getting a 3 month visa even if you have family here.

Lost for Thailand. Other countries in the region will pick up the Farang tourists that Thailand doesn't seem to want creating jobs and security for the less well off in them countries.

I cannot see a reason why not open the borders again and Manage the epidemic like other countries do. If isolation is needed, then the guests own hotel or house would be efficient enough. A government arranged accommodation is not acceptable. I spend 4 months every year at the cost of about 8000 pounds but unless stipulations change, I will spend it elsewhere, especially as some Thais don't want dirty forangs anyhow.
Dirty?..... There is more dirt in the back of Thai houses then anywhere in the world.

Thailand has a very low infection rate because they don't test people to a great extent.

Factually incorrect. Belgium has the highest Covid-19 death rate per 100,000 of the population in Europe. Admittedly, the UK is second followed closely by Spain, but that's most likely due to the over-counting of Coronavirus as the cause of death on death certificates by PHE rather than the actual cause. As I'm sure you're well aware, anyone who tests positive for the virus and later dies is counted as a death. However, scientists have claimed this does not present a true picture as someone could die from a non-related illness but still be counted within the Coronavirus death total. This has been the practice right from the start, all the way up to August 6th until a recent review. Plus, the Spanish government is still not able to say exactly how many nursing home residents have died because of the coronavirus, according to a Health Ministry report. It's clear that there are vast discrepancies in the way that European countries count and report Coronavirus deaths, so I wouldn't be so quick to demonize the country yet.
As of 24th July, Britain had carried out more Coronavirus tests than any other European country at over 200,000 per day — including 2.6 million more tests than Germany. Even with such high testing rates, Britain is now reporting fewer Coronavirus cases than many European countries. Britain now has only 9.6 cases per million vs the EU’s average of 12.5, and is well below France and Spain’s record.
What does any of this prove? Quite frankly, I believe it means Coronavirus is now part of our disease spectrum and will always be there to catch in future. Some will have built an immunity towards it by already having had it, and others will still be susceptible. Not that that means one is going to die from it just because you've caught it. The majority will just have mild symptoms.
Only recently the BBC reported that in the Mumbai slums 57% have had COVID-19 with 1-in-1000 to 2000 mortality rate — which is the same as seasonal flu. The big question is: did the world overreact? We have to be grown-up and realise that 1,500 people die every day in the UK before Coronavirus and that’s an unfortunate reality.
Oh, and here's a free bit of grammar advice for you: it's "too late and too little" not "to late and to little". ????
Also as well take into account how many people have been tested in them countries compared to Thailand

They won't be coming. It's as simple as that. They won't want to spend 2 weeks in quarantine.
Thailand is up the creek without a paddle with the Junta in charge.

My motivation for returning is to see my fiancee (I'm in UK, she BKK). Otherwise I'd be giving Thailand a wide berth for the forseeable.
I have given up on a further 4 week visit this year (May visit was cancelled) and have been targeting an extended 6 months in the region from end of Feb next year. I'm willing to jump through all the hoops to get us back together - C19 test, quarantine etc.
If the Thai government has any sense, they'll accept people like me who need a tourist visa and are willing to meet all the medical requirements. Also, that they won't try and enforce further stupid restrictions around freedom of movement - if you have completed the medical requirements then that should be that.
But I expect the reality is the vast majority of potential tourists are 2 or 3 week visitors and they aren't going to come back anytime soon if quarantine is a requirement. And also if they are herded into certain areas.
Zero chance of that happening mate. Men married to Thai Ladies can't even get a visa if they are overseas.

Six million?
Yeah, right.
How are they going to get here?
6 million is very very optimistic even if they open up the borders.
At this moment in time people are booking holidays and Thailand isn't on their radar and once these tourists who use to come to Thailand see how far their money goes in other countries they won't be coming back here any time soon.
Basically this shows that the soldier boys don't know how to run a country on a business level.
Thailand is heading into a winter of discontent with probably riots on the streets by those who have lost their jobs because of the inept soldier boys trying to run a country.

At least we know where we stand and can now forget Thailand as a tourist destination.
If Thailand doesn't want Farang tourists them tourists will just find another country to go too where their tourist money will create jobs.
When them tourists go to another country and see how much more they get for there tourist money in other countries They won't be coming back to Thailand.
That is a lot of lost income for Thailand and a lot of lost jobs.

The export situation is starting to move & estimates are that 87% of last year so it is not all doom & gloom.
Legal immigrant workers are required to do 14 days quarantine which the employers are paying for (2 to a room).
Sometimes swallowing the bitter pill makes the long term forecast better.
NZ is a classic example of a country that is going to take it really slowly & they rely on tourism to a big extent & their tourist areas are really hurting as I am here but may be for the better in the end
Nobody i know in exports believes that exports are rising. I fact i would say they are continually going South.

Since the devastation of the explosion the other day all the population want the corrupt leaders out of power so they can try and rebuild their country. There could be a day of reckoning coming, and I hope for the sake of Thailand the youth are watching developments.
I see many similarities here in the LOS.
Swap Beirut for Bangkok and that's what could be happening in 6 months here unless people get their jobs back. Zero tourism and a overvalued Baht are destroying Thailand

As every day passes the Thai economy slips further backwards to becoming a 3rd world country again.
I seriously expect there will be riots on the streets in the not too distance future as jobs are lost and the people become hungry unless something serious is done.
It just wont be jobs lost in the tourism industry either. It's all knock on effect.

2019 Tourist revenue totaled 3.2Tn THB. The projection of 676.7Bn THB for 2021 is not only pure speculation, it's closer to an 80% drop in tourism. A smart move on TATs part would be to encourage the expats who are spending money now in Thailand to stay by extending the amnesty until the end of the year.
Also as well they need to back the farangs who are have family here to return with easier entry rules. Farangs spend money

The junta have to wake up and smell the coffee and realise that until they ease restrictions tourists are not going to come back to Thailand. If they don't the people will become more restless everyday as unemployment soars
