I still say there is something in Thai DNA where they secretly love this type of carnage.

Thailand. The Bevis and Butthead of SEA.

That was my wife when I got her started driving at age 27. Made her take lessons for a month on a manual transmission. She still can't work one.

Ran over a few cones on her license test in Surin. No prob. 600 baht later she had her license.

She's a good driver now though. Only bangs into small things every once in a while.

A quick hit on the gas peddle, and then a sharp jab on the brakes and she could have knocked this stupid worthless piece of <deleted> off the roof, RUN HIS JUE GUNG ASS OVER, flipped him the bird again, asked 'how do you like me now?' and called the police! next... :coffee1:

The Liberal members here will be silent.

She was OF their culture, and not a "GUEST" in Thailand, so while I agree with you, I'll be one of the few (with some sense) that likes what you said.

Do we really want Thailand to have the strict rules of our home countries?

Although I'm totally against drunk driving, one small can of beer doesn't make one drunk.

Personally, I love the freedom here and say have small can of beer, and <deleted> to the UK, who fine you for eating a sandwich while driving or Oz, who fined me for facing the wrong way while parked on a quiet residential street for 5  min.

Many of these guys are alcoholics and although wrong, they would be unsafe to drive unless having that morning beer.

On a side note, I failed my first driving test in the  UK. I passed my second one after 2 strong beers and a packet of extra strong mints. I was an alcoholic then.

I got smashed with an American guy, at his house off Pahonyothin Road in 2001. I was staying at the Sofitel near Mo Chit. He'd been living there 30+ years. I was new.

Towards 1100:PM I mentioned getting his sober wife to take me home, as we'd wiped out half a bottle of Jack Daniels.

He said. "Oh, in Thailand, sometimes it HELPS if you get a bit tossed prior to driving."

Always amazed how wound up people get about this- it's no hardship whatsoever to get around it. Consumption is NOT illegal.

Tourists from the USA, UK, France, Russia, Germany, etc...They do not know.

They rent a villa in Phuket etc for a week.

OOPS! Thailand has a bazillion tourists, but they kinda have a bit of a party pooper that week.

    Genius!

Expats see it coming. Tourists do not. Tourists do not know how to find the Mom & Pop shops.

Laying off the sauce is no biggie, unless it gets PROHIBITED.

Then I'll find booze just to spite the powers that be.

not at all. a friend of mine frequents these types of places and also the large thai style saunas . very rare to see foreigners in these places and he has never been charged more than the standard thai rate. approx 1k. and he tells me the girls are usually alot younger and hotter than what you find in the general gogo scene. it's just what he tells me. you'd have to take a look yourself of course

    SHHHH!

It's not the fault of the Pattaya City Council. The story clearly points out that it was the fault of the rain. In Thailand any problem is always the fault of something or someone else. And PM Prayut is a master of passing the buck so maybe the Council has been learning from him.

I suspect the 19 million has long disappeared into various pockets.

The word "maintenance" is not in the Thai language.

The 'M' in Thailand stands for Maintenance.

Same like the 'J' that stands for civil "servants" doing their jobs.
