  1. Oh yeah, I didn't want flour all over my clothes,, so I did leave the 5 pound bags of self rising flour in the original bags, I encased them in, ziploc bags. I kinda wish Big Joke had tried to snort it and get high.
  2. Yes. I do recall that article. It was in a BKK English newspaper. The Nigerians were the most populous in the Bangkok Hilton. Regular old FIFA teams. 20+ years ago. I once took a 35mm camera picture of a Pattaya Mail headline that read "BEACH ROAD CLEARED OF ELEPHANTS AND PROSTITUTES!" I wish I still had that print.
  3. DUDE! try to find self rising flour in Pattaya! I found a 5 pound bag at the Post Exchange in Okinawa. I bought 2 bags (They were Marines and called it the Base Exchange). I grabbed TWO EACH FIVE POUND bags of very innocent, self rising flour, as I tend to like American food. This was back when some idiot was mailing Anthrax around. Zero checks for anythimg when I hit Don Muang. This poor Uxbek gal....she was set up so a MUCH larger shipment could get thru.
  4. Rape the county as hard and as fast as they can go. Oops! Sounds like me in Pattaya! ???? Well not rape. I normally keave a few thousand dollars here & there. AND....They smile a lot. Luckily I don't run the country. Charming
  5. Japanese Customs guy stopped me in Okinawa (business trip on a flight from BKK & open return date for my flight). I was 34-ish. He asked (in perfect English) if I had any cocaine or heroin with me. I don't even smoke weed. I started slapping my pockets and said "Nope. I'm fresh out. But if I did have some, I'd share it with ya. Then we could both get high". He just looked disgusted at me and said "You can go".????
  6. My guess is that they now have a database on their computers (which are probably still running Windows 95), and are actually now able to keep track of the offenders.
  7. I'd like to multi quote several of the above folks who decry the "Thai bashing"...suffice it to say, I have worked EXTENSIVELY with the RTA, and quite a a bit with the Thai Marines. I was a Field Service Rep for AM General for many years.. AMG manufactures the HMMWV (Humvee) military truck. Those trucks are over the world, and I was based in Thailand to help with their 2,000 trucks. Taiwan has 4,000 or 5,000. US Marines on Okinawa + US Army in Korea. The RTA conduct maintenance like a bunch of 16 year old kids. Drive it till it breaks. I have seen steering linkage tied together with a broken fan belt! Peanut butter in the brake Master Cylinder (brakes failed, anyone, anyone ever heard that???). They were sending 72 trucks to Sudan on a "Peacekeeping Mission" to help the UN...asked me to inspect the 35 year old trucks (this was years ago). I came back with a folder about 4 inches thick, and gave it to a Full Bird Colonel. and identified 38 trucks I would be TERRIFIED to even drive into the workbay to try and fix. In the US Army, we called it a DEADLINE issue = UNSAFE to operate. They just grinned at me and sent them off to Sudan. Oh they DID paint them white with UN markings, re-did the upholstery on the seats, and put new, shiny tires on them.
  8. No doubt my Brother. Loads of Scotsmen (well, of Scottish decent) were probably involved in getting those ships off the bottom in 1941-42. John Paul Jones. BTW...I like Scotch ????
  9. I don't know squat about raising vessels, but with an average depth of 40-50 feet (where the submarines are desparately needed in the Gulf Of Siam), I doubt that raising the the ship will be too much of a challenge for a talented salvage crew. They are wise to farm it out. Pearl Harbor is about 40-50 feet deep & they salvaged a few battleships in December 1941-January 1942. This one doesn't even have bomb nor torpedo damage.
  10. Pretty close. I'd rank Yemen at the top of "worst run" countries I've visited, followed by Bangladesh. Cambodia comes to mind, and though I've never been to sub-Saharan Africa.....well Thailand ain't so bad. Probably in the top 20 worst run countries for sure though. The thing is, when government gets involved, well, whatever they do, do, they do it badly.
  11. Don't be making fun of the "National Shoe". You might be aressted for Lesse Majeste!
  12. During the entirety of WW2 the US Navy lost a total of three ships(destroyers/smaller ships, but bigger than a corvette) due to weather....it was a Category FIVE TYPHOON! 80 foot swells... 1944 meteorological technology.... A little chop sends this one to the bottom??? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Typhoon_Cobra
  13. Should have been dragged to the nearest tree. Tall limbs, short rope
  14. Should drag him to the nearest tree...????
  15. Ooo-Ooo that smell. (As Lynard Skynard said). I could smell Nana Plaza from Don Muang years ago. Smelled...like napalm in the morning.
  16. Mayhaps she built a house for the thieves in the past and only installed half roof and forgot to install the AC units?
  17. No lights would have saved my neighbor from getting dragged out of the bar by his ear (by his wife) once. He was groping.
  18. He also said "Don't smoke, don't run with scissors and don't stick your hand in the fan." I was at a place Isaan once, fan with no guard/shroudspinning away. I acted like a moth to the flame and slowly walked towards it with my hand stuck out. Several folks started "Yelling " Mai chai!" Guess you'd have had to been there.
  19. Som tam... Farang phone auto spell. Arrgh!!
  20. Lay off the toxic son tam! In Florida now, wishing like hell I had son original son tam. Poor me ????
