Would that have been the same Charles De Gaulle who liberated France in 1944, with a little bit of help from "Les Anglo Saxons" on the fringes of the whole business?

I thought it was low season from Summer until mid October or even the start of Novembers.
The Thai government will get more pressure when it is considered high season
and there are still no tourists allowed or are showing any interest in returning to
Thailand for this Winter. I believe that the Elite who have their money in many pots will
start putting the real pressure on the puppet government by December for sure.
Personally I do not see an improvement in this situation until September 2021.
At that time there should be a vaccine, and it will be known if it is pretty effective and long lasting.
Geezer
I don't think the Thai government do "pressure".

Sure. I have cooking appliances and always have something on hand to cook, but tend to eat out most nights of the week.
Perhaps the majority of expats tend to eat in most nights of the week. Maybe it's due to cost.
I rarely eat out at night, maybe grab a kebab if I'm on a night out. Nothing to do with cost, I'm a Northerner so have my main meal at dinner time (lunch) which I eat in restaurants several times a week. Tea (dinner) is usually something light. I have a fully equipped Western kitchen which I like to cook in but unfortunately the wife has dibs on it. Today had a takeaway of pasta, and king prawns in Bombay sauce for dinner and a cheese, ham and Branston wedgie sandwich for tea. The big advantage of eating in that order is its much more effective if you're on a diet. Nothing worse than going to sleep on a big meal.

For a family beach holiday - it's fine, more Phuket than Pattaya but without the scams.
Are you serious? Between the lucky lucky men and the time share touts its far more hassle. The beaches are few and far between too.

How about putting in some benches for the ladies of the night, some short time booths, even better some garbage cans!
The beach side of Beach Road would look nice if it were lit with red lights.

As soon as people sat down, they took their masks off and didnt put them back on until they left , they were all mingling by the salad bar without masks on .
What is the point of putting a mask on for ten steps (to your seat)?
Not true when I visited. Mandatory to wear a mask at the salad bar. Are you sure that you have visited Sizzlers recently?

Yet another response comment which is nothing more then an insult. The President of the United States does not suffer from any mental deficiencies other then perhaps a large ego if that is classified as a deficiency. He has had a remarkable life prior to being President - seems to be loved by all of his immediate family - and has done quite well as President of the USA. How does that stack up with your own accomplishments?
So its OK to question Bidens mental ability but not Trumps? Sorry to burst your precious orange balloon.

Don't know what a Warburton is but the Siamburi one are just as good as a Golden Crumpets sold in Australia.
They are very easy to make, have a crack at doing your own.

The ones at Siamsburys are very heavy with an unpleasant yeasty taste. I've tried making my own, even bought a special form from Lazada. Limited success, came out similar to Siamsburys crumpets. Occasionally see the odd pack of Warburtons in Villa but get sold very quickly.

Worldwide there is enough food production now and into the foreseeable future, the problem is insufficient distribution infrastructure, corruption and lack of political will.
Agreed. Its hell trying to get good crumpets in Thailand.

Many shisha cafes in the UK. Governing rules are the same as smoking cigarettes (ie outside only).

Republicans bombed targets in England because we had British troops on the border, no? I think the previous poster was suggesting we let the Irish fight amongst each other without the involvement of British troops. But I guess that would only be possible if NI voted to reunify Ireland. Which can't be far off.
If Cummings proposals are implemented, it would necessitate custom checks on the NI-Eire border ie a hard border which would be attacked by the IRA and on and on.

There are lots of interesting staying options nowadays and Thailand simply has been very less welcoming in past years for unknown reasons so why return In a hurry with a complicated visa structure no thanks !
I don't think that visas have anything to do with snowbirds not returning, apart from not being able to do border runs, its all about Covid. Would normally see them drifting back over the next month or so but with the travel complications I just can't see it happening. 2 that I am in touch with have abandoned their plans until October 2021.

Boris if you follow it through, wants shut of Ireland
If the Good Friday agreement is breached, which it's almost certain to do if Boris instigates Cummings' new plan, it will kick off again.

Nothing ,absolutely nothing to do with England, Boris has made it plain. Bog trotters want to battle it out..a pleasure
They won't be battling it out. Boris doesn't get to choose if the IRA choose to bomb the mainland, which they will if it all kicks off. You really don't have a clue.
