1. my god, is this woman serious, she wants the army bunkers to have pink cutains and soldiers to not carry weapons, what a wacko. I can see it now, the reds attack the army and they throw flowers at them in defence while the reds blow them away with the weapons yl takes away from the army.

Someone needs to stop this woman before she totally screws the country, sorry, she has already done that, make that, someone needs to stop here before she turns everyone into "pretties" like her.

Why didn't you read the OP before you posted?

"When asked about the premier's concerns, Prayuth jokingly said he might have to think about decorating the bunkers with flowers or hanging pink curtains."

You should apologize to the forum for your misplaced rant.

  2. i am referring to those IN pattaya and those IN bangkok

    simple enough thumbsup.gif

    Unfortunately it's not that simple.

Is it a girl in Pattaya with professional qualifications working in a management position in a multinational company or is it a girl in Pattaya working as a waitress in a cheap Thai restaurant?

Is it a girl working as F&B manager in a 5 star hotel in Bangkok or is she a high school teacher, or is it a girl working on a stall in Chatuchak market.

    Do you see?

Every visitor or foreign resident in Thailand will have a different answer depending on their length of stay, reason for being in Thailand, demographic profile and dozens of other variables.

  3. Late Monday morning the sea turned brown at Lamai Beach. Now no one swimming. What is it? I know what it looks like but it doesn't smell just looks awful. Any clues from someone who really does know?

Yes. The answer is simple. The central and regional governments decided long ago to refuse to invest in waste water treatment. Nearly all sewage here is pumped directly into the sea. So, what you are swimming in is a mixture of salt water and excrement. Yes, that is the reality, and all tests have shown a ridiculously high level of human waste. Swim in the sea on Samui at your own peril. The fabulously irresponsible authorities are sucking this island dry, and giving very, very little back to to the tourists who spend their hard earned money there. I am afraid Samui has seen better days. It is not moving in a positive direction.

I came to that conclusion in 2004 so I left, after 5 years living there.

  4. "According to reports, the number of foreign visitors in the medical tourism category currently exceeds 1 million persons a year, valued at over 30 billion baht."

Let's assume there are exactly 1,000,000 visitors spending exactly 30 billion baht. That means these big spenders are spending 30,000 baht each. That's less than US$1,000 per head. Hardly something to write home about.

Why do Thai news sources have such problems with numbers, especially, but not in this case, statistics?

Can you imagine the impact investigative journalism would have on Thailand if they introduced it to the pantheon of skills being adopted by media outlets here?

  5. Cowardly to the core, like the whole rotten, corrupt group of inbred mutants that is the Shinawatra family. GET OUT NOW and never come back. Go to your puppet master in Dubai and you can both rot there together.

Are you Thai? If not, you must have very strong ties to Thailand to be so passionate; or did the Shinawatras do something to you or your family personally?

It's good to vent sometimes, isn't it?

    Christ, harm you...seriously mate?

She will check your passport anyway.

    Man up.

She can't check my pasport if I never see her again. I want to break up with her for good this time.

    Tell her the truth ?

Telling the truth is not an option.

You can't tell her the truth and you call her your girl friend? That's not a terribly good basis for a relationship. I suggest you break up with her now and then you won't have to worry about her wanting to go to the airport anyway.

    Man up!

  7. Lots of girls think the way to show it is to be pathologically jealous.

Even if deep down they know and expect, even accept that most of us just can't handle monogamy, they're afraid if they show you they accept it that you'll think they don't really love you.

Goes the other way too, if you let them know you're OK with them fooling around, it takes a lot of convincing that that doesn't mean you don't really "love" them too.

These deeply ingrained cultural mores are a real challenge to overcome.

"most of us just can't handle monogamy" - Do you have research to support this claim?

I'm 51 years old and have never cheated on a girlfriend.

  8. Finally, they get some action on this kind of stuff now go on for others. He must have known the documents were not issued legally.

There's such a fine line between legal and illegal here; who knows? What was legal in 1985 may now be illegal and the powers that be may have retrospectively enforced current regulations.

It would be foolish to speculate without all the facts to hand.

This quote did puzzle me a little bit, however, "He has tried to produce his land-right documents." He either can or cannot produce the documents. To try to do something implies that a person is not 100% sure that they will be able to achieve their aim.

So... does he have the documents or not?

Did the court see them and reject them as illegitimate or has he not been able to produce them.

    It's all a bit vague.

  9. If the article wasn't so obviously written for the PTP it might be excused as something written by a first year psych. student. It is professionally incompetent and demonstrates both a complete lack of understanding about suicide and mental health in general. How demeaning, and ignorant of both the farmers who died and the grief now being experienced by their families.

    Hi Tim,

I happen to be a first year psychology student. I can't quite see the connection between the article and studying psychology. Would you care to elaborate? Are you suggesting that I am likely to have a complete lack of understanding of suicide and mental health because I'm a psychology student?

You could have chosen a more appropriate simile.

  10. I was wondering why some of the OP's posts appeared to come from radically different viewpoints.

And there was me thinking he was just another bipolar <deleted>.

(isn't allowing someone else to use you account a bit of a forum rule bend?)

Bipolar disorder is never something to make light of. You should choose your words more carefully.

I suspect you meant schizophrenic <deleted> which is equally inappropriate but slightly closer to what I think you intended.

  11. Who should be responsible for the government’s failure on overdue payments?

The highest percentage of 35.92 named the caretaker prime minister, followed by the Cabinet at 32.33 per cent, the commerce minister at 16.58 per cent, the anti-government People’s Democratic Reform Committee at 9.85 per cent,

There will always be people with lower mental capabilities, in the Thai society.

People can always have their own opinion, right or wrong. No need to bash them because their opinion is different from yours.

Your comment is totally out of line.

I see your point Newcomer but the problem here is that there are many people in Thailand who have uninformed opinions. Their opinions are based on hearsay and biased media reporting.

Granted, the same could be said of many countries but the government here deliberately prevent the majority of the population from developing informed opinions by limiting their educational opportunities or by simply lying. When you're not taught how to think for yourself, and too often do not have access to the Internet it's difficult to generate an informed opinion.

  12. The SOE, an act of parliament, trumps the Constitution?

Yes, Chalerm, they teach you well at that university of lower education, Ramkhamhaeng.

Well, Sir (with the in-pronounceable handle ?) Ramkhamhaeng is most certainly NOT "a University of lower education". You obviously have no clue as to what you're talking about.

You've never seen, listened to, or read Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy? What planet have you been on? Zaphod Beeblebrox is one of the lead characters. The one with two heads.

Here's his name written phonetically to help you pronounce it. /ˈzeɪfɒd ˈbiːbəlbrɒks/

never heard of it either, what country does it hail from?

Written by English author Douglas Adams. Originally a radio play on the BBC in 1978. Then a book in 1979. Part of a "trilogy" of five books. It became a TV series in 1981 and finally a film was released in 2005.

    Hope that helps.
