" There are two Filipino teachers to teach English ", well yes, sort of !!
There are many highly skilled Filipino English teachers here in Vietnam and the highest qualified, by a large margin, ESL teacher I've met, in 12 years of teaching, was also Filipino.

"Coral planted on closed Phi Phi"
Coral is an animal. Is it possible to "plant" an animal? ?

One can't help but be impressed that a Thai expert used a word like "sisyphean", a word the you wouldn't expect a native speaker to use. It must be rare for a Thai academic in a scientific filed to have an interest in Greek mythology.

Why would anyone in China buy products from Thailand online when the same products would almost certainly be available for sale in China at a more competitive price?
Lazada is the largest online retail market in Thailand, much as it is in Vietnam where I'm currently living. Most of the products listed on the Vietnamese site are sent from China. I presume it's the same in Thailand. Why?

Does he have to spend every second of every day looking remorseful just in case someone takes a photo??

"The kindergarten is planning to open a legal defamation case against the Facebook user."
I'm not usually a great fan of Thai defamation laws since they're often abused but in this case it does seem like an appropriate reaction.

This also helped reduce Thai prison crowding.
!,082 prisoners transferred since 1990. 1082 / 27 = 40.07 each year.
Less than one prisoner a week. That clearly has a dramatic impact on Thai prison overcrowding. Or does it?

Meanwhile, from another source, The Mirror dated 16 April 2018, "Ant McPartlin fined £86,000 after admitting drink driving in two-minute hearing".
Now that's what I call a punishment!!
His weekly income is 130,000 GBP.

Nowhere in the article, either in English or Thai, does it say the the husband and wife are the parents of the two children who were beaten.
Why would a journalist omit such and important fact from the article?
Any thoughts, anyone? Any other sources that clarify their relationship?

The irony is that Thailand only counts deaths at the scene rather than deaths in hospital as a result of a road traffic accident so the real figure is probably much higher than this already outrageous figure.

interesting they call in the media first, before the police
Although the media here don't investigate as much as the media in the west they are definitely much more able to investigate a situation such as this than the police are.

My MIL was a teacher for 30 yrs... She would force left handed students to write with their right hand, as it was too much trouble to teach left handers :)
Lets pray that there is reform and progression in the near future !!!
I've been working in government schools in Vietnam for 10 years and haven't seen a child writing with their left hand. Here they're also forced to use their right hand. They also learn cursive writing from the start. No print writing. It's crazy.

Would you like to explain a little further on your comment as to why he would necessarily know there was someone jammed under the front of the van. Very doubtful the poor bugger was calling out, and very unlikely it would impede the driveability of the van.
Let me explain it for you. The driver is quoted as saying that he went over something. He check behind him but nothing was amiss.
If he went over something then checked behind him and nothing was there, didn't it occur to him that maybe the thing he went over was stuck under the van?
Does that help you to understand. why he would necessarily know there was something under the van?
Glad to be of service. :-)

Great to hear that she is not going to lose her leg.
In an Australian article her mother said she no longer has a femur. If that's not losing your leg, I don't know what is.

Seems to me like the whole village needs razing to the ground whilst still inhabited.
Would you, personally, be prepared to go and kill every member of the village? If not, who do you think should do it? Or was that another example of hyperbole, all too common on ThaiVisa?

Strange comment since this accident involved a Chinese national.
Although strictly speaking, you're right, he was not a Farang, he was Chinese; don't you think that petermilk was using it in a much broader sense meaning that he was non-Thai?
Was his comment so strange that you couldn't get the gist of what he was trying to say?
Sometimes pedanticism is not a good trait.

There is no such thing as British English.
There is loso and hiso English in the uk, plus many languages in between, plus many dialects.
The neutral English is Kiwi English.
And no, I am not a Kiwi.
But I love them.

Sickening footage
The video footage itself is not sickening. It is obviously stupid but not sickening. It's the resulting death of the baby that's sickening but that's not visible on the video.
Clickbait title.
