It is a team effort, The staff has a job to do in taking and delivering orders. We need to be clear on what we want and give them time to do it without interrupting them. Nobody is deliberately trying to sabotage your meal, on your first visit.

OK: it is your fault. We are always welcomed. We are clear in our orders, fair with the staff, and pay our tabs, maybe with a little extra. We rarely have serious service issues and when we do, we work it out politely and give them time to fix it.

And let her handle it. She knows what is going on.

Thai restaurant service runs a little differently from what we are used to and it runs in Thai. I tend to start from the viewpoint that I am the foreigner and I am responsible for facilitating the event. It is not that hard once you realize that they want you to get your lunch and pay up just as much as you do.

Staff run off as soon as you order one thing. So you have to get up and chase after them to them the rest of your order. (in the case of western food) Never happens, no idea what you are talking about. 4. Staff deliver your food requiring that you acknowledge them and interrupting your conversation to do so but then run away like the devil himself is chasing them. They have a job to do, shut up and let them do it. While you are at it, get you phone off the table and put the laptop away. 5. Staff disappear or engage in a very noisy conversation with the fellow staff and never check on anything. If you want something, just call them over. 6. You could wait all day for them to bring your bill but they never will. You have to stand up like you are going to leave. just call them over and say Check Bin, Mai Khup. They will be happy to take your money. I know someone will say “oh no Thailand is not like that at all.” sorry. i don’t believe you. OK: Oh no, Thailand is not like that at all.
