Five minutes outside of Chiang Mai, all English and falang culture disappear. As long as you are OK in real Thailand it can be very nice. We live in the country south of Chiang Rai and I am the only falang for 20km.

And I have seen a lot of spalling like this. For cement mix you MUST use the acrylic addmix. The premade crocodile stuff is much better. Leave joint gaps so the grout will do it's job. Plastic spacers really help at this.

You can buy from other provinces but the paperwork is a little more complicated. Dealers will do it for you but it doubles the price of your PCX/N-Max. It is best if you take a Thai with you for the buy and registration that knows the system.

It took us about an hour to go through inspection and registration. You need to take the vehicle with you the first time. We had the full insurance already but it was easier to buy a second compulsory policy at the motor office for a few hundred baht.
