  1. Yes, that's what you said. It's wrong, but you did say it. "Sexual assault is an act in which one intentionally sexually touches another person without that person's consent, or coerces or physically forces a person to engage in a sexual act against their will.[1] It is a form of sexual violence that includes child sexual abuse, groping, rape (forced sexual penetration, no matter how slight), drug facilitated sexual assault, and the torture of the person in a sexual manner.[1][2][3]" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sexual_assault
  2. And in related news: How France surged ahead with heat pump installation A combination of grants for householders, subsidies for businesses and a strong domestic electricity market has allowed France to surge ahead with the installation of the energy-efficient heat pumps in homes, a new report shows. France has increased its rate of heat pump installation by 34 percent in the past two years, with 3.1 million pumps installed in 2021 and 2022 alone - a rate unmatched in any European nation. While France still lags behind the countries that were the earliest adopters of heat pumps - Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Estonia - it now has the 6th highest percentage of homes with a heat pump in the EU, and if present trends continue this will number will rapidly expand. https://www.thelocal.fr/20230719/how-france-surged-ahead-with-heat-pump-installation The article goes on to say that French installations of heat pumps outnumber UK installations by a mere 10 to 1 ratio.
  3. Revealed: Media Blitz Against Heat Pumps Funded by Gas Lobby Group Over the past two years, the Energy and Utilities Association (EUA) has paid a public affairs firm to generate hundreds of articles and interviews to lobby the UK government on energy policy. The PR campaign subjects heat pumps to intense criticism. Powered by electricity, heat pumps are currently set to play a key role in decarbonising heating and replacing gas boilers, which heat around 85 percent of Britain’s homes and account for 15 percent of greenhouse gas emissions nationwide. https://www.desmog.com/2023/07/20/revealed-media-blitz-against-heat-pumps-funded-by-gas-lobby-group/
  4. I've got some good news for you which I've reported elsewhere but you seem to have missed: Electric Car Batteries Lasting Longer Than Predicted Delays Recycling Programs "Electric cars have sophisticated battery management systems that guard the long-term health of their batteries. Most manufacturers offer battery warranties of seven or eight years or around 100,000 miles of driving, but there’s an industry expectation that EV batteries will last longer than that; they should outlive the cars themselves." https://www.forbes.com/sites/carltonreid/2022/08/01/electric-car-batteries-lasting-longer-than-predicted-delays-recycling-programs/?sh=6820966a5332
  5. What don't you understand about the fact that if there's an ongoing investigation their hands are tied. It would jeopardize the investigation for them to reply. Which the Republicans know and are counting on.
  6. Judge upholds the $5 million verdict against Trump in E. Jean Carroll’s sex abuse and defamation case The judge said the verdict did not mean that Carroll “failed to prove that Mr. Trump ‘raped’ her as many people commonly understand the word ‘rape.’ Indeed … the jury found that Mr. Trump in fact did exactly that.” Instead, the proof convincingly established, and the jury implicitly found, that Mr. Trump deliberately and forcibly penetrated Ms. Carroll’s vagina with his fingers, causing immediate pain and long lasting emotional and psychological harm,” Kaplan wrote. The judge said Trump’s argument “ignores the bulk of the evidence at trial, misinterprets the jury’s verdict, and mistakenly focuses on the New York Penal Law definition of ‘rape’ to the exclusion of the meaning of that word as it often is used in everyday life and of the evidence of what actually occurred between Ms. Carroll and Mr. Trump.” https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/judge-upholds-the-5-million-verdict-against-trump-in-e-jean-carrolls-sex-abuse-and-defamation-case
  7. Really, you got al link to a credible source to prove that? Or are you just confused? In fact "At the Ramstein meeting, General Milley said that Ukraine’s allies have trained 17 combat brigades and 63,000 Ukrainian troops have been trained by Western allies. The US has trained 15,000 of that total, according to Milley." https://www.kyivpost.com/post/19597
  8. You really ought to have looked up the meaning of fascism before you used it in your post. "Many experts agree that fascism is a mass political movement that emphasizes extreme nationalism, militarism, and the supremacy of both the nation and the single, powerful leader over the individual citizen." https://world101.cfr.org/historical-context/world-war/what-fascism#:~:text=Many experts agree that fascism, leader over the individual citizen. And once again the Justice Dept is not free to reply to these allegations before the agreement with Hunter Biden is ratified and while the investigation continues.
  9. It's about Hunter Biden, not "The Bidens". And right now the Justice Dept can't reply in detail to these allegations because the agreement with Hunter Biden has yet to be approved by a judge. And it may be that there are still ongoing investigations.
  10. Actually, you got the history wrong. The US agreed to withdraw its nukes in Turkey in exchange for Russia withdrawing its nukes in Cuba. "No one was sure how Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev would respond to the naval blockade and US demands. But the leaders of both superpowers recognized the devastating possibility of a nuclear war and publicly agreed to a deal in which the Soviets would dismantle the weapon sites in exchange for a pledge from the United States not to invade Cuba. In a separate deal, which remained secret for more than twenty-five years, the United States also agreed to remove its nuclear missiles from Turkey." https://www.jfklibrary.org/learn/about-jfk/jfk-in-history/cuban-missile-crisis I don't understand why you think Afghanistan is applicable to this situation. And you don't understand how, by claiming that the South China Sea is virtual Chinese lake, unpopular China has made itself very unpopular with nations bordering on the South China Sea.
  11. Your post was easy to understand and fun to read. For those who for some reason need an explanation of what you wrote, here is one: Basically you started out by referring to Kim and Trump trading insults. Then Trump segued (your spelling actually makes a lot more sense and is amusing to boot) into a bromance with Kim and in so doing undid 40 years of diplomacy and sanctions for an empty public relations stunt. Biden on the other hand understands actions speak louder than words and sent a meaningful message of where America stands via a nuclear submarine. With respect to your writing, don't change a thing. It's refreshing to see a little prose creativity in this forum.
  12. You're not just disagreeing with me. You're disagreeing with settled science. And not even climate science but basic physics. It's not a matter of scoring points against you. If you write something that is patently false, I will point it out. This is from the landing page of the World News Forum: "Any alleged factual claims must be supported by a valid link to an approved credible source." I am prepared to back up all my assertions with links to approved credible sources. Are you?
  13. It's a good thing you provided so much evidence to support your claim. Otherwise, one might suspect that you were projecting your own conspiratorial beliefs onto the bulk of the American people.
  14. As Stephen Colbert once remarked "And reality has a well-known liberal bias..." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_Colbert_at_the_2006_White_House_Correspondents'_Dinner
  15. More like Orban style. The head of the Hungarian govt has pretty much eviscerated democracy in his country by completely politicizing all branches of the govt.
  16. As that Al-Jazeera article notes: The operation, the first of its kind, is a risky one – but the potential leaking of the remaining oil in the deteriorating tanker that the Yemeni government purchased in the 1980s is even more so. https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2023/7/16/the-uns-yemeni-oil-tanker-operation-heres-what-to-know
  17. What does it mean that hydrogen is a "proven technology"? As apposed to what? So are EV batteries. Hydrogen is currently very expensive to produce. And most of it comes from fossil fuels. And it's very polluting. There is some promise in drilling for hydrogen and via green powered electrolysis but the technology is not there yet. The exploitation of cobalt miners in Africa may be well known, but what clearly isn't known to you is that there are widely used EV batteries out there now that don't use cobalt. Tesla says that its next generation of magnets won't need rare earths. And you're 100% wrong about car batteries having in proper recycling at this point. In fact, the big problem is that because EV batteries are lasting much longer than expected, there aren't enough of them to supply the recycling facilities. How world leaders get to where they're going is proof of what, exactly?

  19. Maybe you should share your thoughts with the NOAA. It seems they disagree with you: How does sea ice affect global climate? "While sea ice exists primarily in the polar regions, it influences the global climate. The bright surface of sea ice reflects a lot of sunlight out into the atmosphere and, importantly, back into space. Because this solar energy "bounces back" and is not absorbed into the ocean, temperatures nearer the poles remain cool relative to the equator." https://oceanservice.noaa.gov/facts/sea-ice-climate.html#:~:text=When warming temperatures gradually melt, cycle of warming and melting.
  20. Whaddya mean? Trump got to take a romantic bro stroll with Kim in the demilitarized zone. And he cherishes his connection with Kim so much that he stole the letters sent to him by Kim.
  21. And as I've pointed out before, he maintained contrary to what most legal experts opined, that Durham had 2 strong cases to make as a result of his investigation. We know how that turned out. He also strongly supported Aileen Cannon's determination that a special master should be appointed in the Mar-a-Lago case. Again, most experts pointed out how bizarre that decision was. And ultimately it got sneered out of court by a 3 judge panel including 2 conservative ones appointed by Trump.
  22. I'm sure that to you the state of my acqaintance with QAnon subscribers is relevant. But I fail to see how.
  23. Possibly there will be more of these TRUE stories. I certainly wouldn't put it past Kennedy to indulge his penchant for making nasty and false claims. His viability as a Democratic Presidential contender is a rightwing wet dream. How does a vaccine conspiracy theorist, and an absolutist supporter of the 2nd Amendment, pose a serious threat as a candidate?
  24. The case you cite is a civil one that has nothing to do with laws directed at hate speech. In that case the plaintiffs sued the Westboro Baptist Church on the grounds of emotional distress caused by church members' hateful speech when they were demonstrating near the funeral of a gay Marine. My original question was to ask what laws are there that ban hate speech. That was in response to a claim from a member who claimed that there were.
  25. Turley also thought that John Durham had strong cases to make. He also defended Aileen Cannon's decision to appoint a special master in the Mar-a-Lago case. So we know where he's coming from.
