Israel and Hamas fight house-to-house battles across Gaza
placeholder replied to CharlieH's topic in The War in Israel
I haven't tried to discredit it. Just noted that the name of no Israeli has been attached to it. And I can find no trace of the IDF issuing a press release to that effect. -

In an article where no names are mentioned. And "limited success" is one of those phrases that could mean anything up to basically a failure. And once again, this "liimited success" does belie claims of a careful inspection of the soil conditions. -

Most countries have their own central bank. Not sure why you think this is relevant in this case. What does having a central bank have to do with having access to the world's major financial system? -

As far as I can tell, that's not what they've been proclaiming publicly: https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entry/idf-trial-of-flooding-hamas-tunnels-with-seawater-was-successful-toi-told/#:~:text=IDF trial of flooding Hamas tunnels with seawater proves successful%2C ToI told,-By Emanuel Fabian&text=The IDF's trial run of,Times of Israel has learned. -
Actually, you're wrong. Voters clearly are feeling it. https://www.axios.com/2024/01/19/us-consumer-sentiment-index-umich In a way, this poll reflects what Americans already were believing believe about their own economic prospects vs the prospects of the economy as a whole. Several different polls from different organization have results that show more Americans are optimistic about their own prospects than are pessimistic. But when asked about the economy as a whole, they were still believing it was in bad shape. Do I need to point out the contradiction here? This is like the results that educational surveys come up. When asked about the state of education as a whole in the USA, more believe it's in bad shape. But when asked about their local school systems, they mostly approve. And there's this from the Fed. https://chippewa.com/news/nation-world/business/economy/us-economic-outlook-optimism-americans-wages-outpace-prices-inflation-slows/article_23756d5b-1578-5ef4-98d2-41df316dc88d.html#:~:text=A recent survey by the, highest level since June 2021.

As I already pointed out, despite the alleged careful surveys of the soil, the flooding isn't working out so well as far as flushing out Hamas goes.Given that that is the case, why should we credit the rest of their claims? -

Given the confession that flooding was much less effective than hoped for, clearly, the process was not suited to more tunnels than that IDF's alleged inspections diagnosed. Keep in mind that the IDF is a party to this conflict and their claims of how they proceed are reasonably subject to skepticism. After all, they have yet to allow outside journalists in to Gaza except under very stringent and highly controlled conditions. -

Then why are you posting in an article that's about those theories? It does explain the irrelevance of your comments, though. -

It's actually about the bizarre right wing conspiracy theories.. Not about a critique of her person or the quality of her music. Do you endorse any of those conspiracy theories? -

There might be a difference between claims and reality? As for me editing my post... I guess to you reducing the size of the headline caps counts makes a post totally different? Because that's the only change I made. And I did it because I know the mods disapprove of oversized fonts. -

Well, I guess that makes poisoning the groundwater, OK then? The thing is, pipes can be replaced. Soil, not so much. -

Of course, you assume that they do make careful analyses on the soil. Seems dubious. Israeli Military Confirms It Has Begun Flooding Hamas Tunnels On the whole, however, the project has had limited success, the officials added. Despite large volumes of water being pumped, many of the tunnels are porous, resulting in seepage into the surrounding soil rather than a deluge through the passageways. https://archive.ph/mpwLW https://www.nytimes.com/2024/01/30/world/middleeast/israel-flooding-tunnels-hamas.html -

I looked up your quote which you failed to provide any link for. And now I can see why you failed to provide a link. Here's the rule: Any alleged factual claims must be supported by a valid link to an approved credible source. https://aseannow.com/forum/158-world-news/ There's nothing credible about the sources your info came from. -

Well, then, it shouldn't pose a problem for you to explain it instead of responding as you did. Given that you were knocking the cost of govt provided healthcare as opposed to private health care, I think it was reasonable of me to construe the line you were following. -

Israel is certainly not targeting children because they live in Gaza. In fact, it is not targeting children. However, because children live in Gaza they are getting blown up. America, for one, has been persistently pushing Israel to use more targeted methods that are likely to result in fewer collateral deaths. -

That article you linked to doesn't support the 10x figure. I'm not saying it's false but nothing there to support it. And given that the elderly are virtually universally enrolled in Medicare, you think that might have something to do with whatever disproportion exists? And finally, the systems other countries use to keep costs down are almost invariably described as socialistic by right-wingers. -

First off, an inept attempt at deflection. This is about lunatic right wing conspiracy theories concerning her. And when has Taylor Swift ever threatened to leave the US if Trump got elected? Pavlovian thinking much? -

It looks like the threat of US retaliation might have had an effect. Time will tell. After deadly drone strike, Iran-backed Iraqi militia claims its pausing attacks on US forces A pro-Iran group in Iraq says that it will halt its attacks on US troops, after Washington pledged a “very consequential” response to a drone attack that killed three of its soldiers. “We’re announcing the suspension of our military and security operations against the occupying forces to avoid any embarrassment for the Iraqi government,” Kataeb Hezbollah writes on its website. The United States blamed “radical Iran-backed militant groups operating in Syria and Iraq” for Sunday’s drone strike on a remote Jordan desert base near Syria and Iraq. https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entry/after-deadly-drone-strike-iran-backed-iraqi-militia-claims-its-pausing-attacks-on-us-forces/ -

I don't know what post you are referring to. In the post that you originally replied with, there was only a link to a haaretz article.
