The arrangement you are referring to here are hardly routine. I'm sure some appropriate secluded space in some federal prison somewhere can be found and secret service agents can continue to protect the president. It actually should be a lot simpler to provide security for him in a prison with separate quarters than at Mar a Lago with guest s and workers constantly coming and going. And let's not get too carried away about the power of the secret service. It's not the pretorian guard.

Durham report finds FBI probe into Trump-Russia ties was flawed
placeholder replied to Social Media's topic in World News
More nonsense. As even Durham acknowledged the investigation was not predicated on the Steele report. Durham has also violated prosecutorial norms by continuing to maintain that the 2 people he unsuccessfully prosecuted made false statement. He didn't even qualify that by writing "alleged" before "false statements". Durham fails to find fault with the 2 parties who most disgraced themselves in the course of this investigation: William Barr and himself. -
The Upper Atmosphere Is Cooling, Prompting New Climate Concerns
placeholder replied to onthedarkside's topic in World News
Well, even though the research isn't from an unbiased left wing University, as those of us capable of reading past the headlines know, but rather from a study published in PNAS from a researcher at Wood Hole Oceanographic Institution, it still provides undeniable evidence that the rapid rate of warming the earth's atmosphere is now experiencing is human caused. The fact that the upper atmosphere is cooling while the lower atmosphere is warming is proof of that. Of course, if you can offer a rational hypothesis in opposition to that, and not one raoted in accusations of bias and dishonesty, please share your ideas with us. To help you formulate your alternative, you might want to start by actually reading the article rather than continuing to offer nothing but Pavlovian reactions to headlines and publishing venues. -

They can stay right where they are but just go slower. Lots of other people invested in real estate and such on the strength of Disney's plans. And there will be less jobs than there otherwise would have been. And Disney is letting people know it. Lot of Republicans are making their unhappiness with Desantis known too, He's overplayed his hand. But he doesn't know how to retreat. There was an interesting story a while back about how Desantis fired someone he suspected of going behind his back to the press. She is a very well connected long time Republican apparatchik. Not only did he fire her, but he made sure that no other Republicans in the state would hire her. Now she's working for Trump. DeSantis tried to bury her. Now she’s helping Trump try to bury him https://www.seattletimes.com/nation-world/nation-politics/desantis-tried-to-bury-her-now-shes-helping-trump-try-to-bury-him/ There is something seriously wrong with Desantis. HIs guiding principle is vindictiveness. -

And what's this got to do with the fact that the Desantis is deploying the resource of the State of Florida to punish Disney for publicly criticizing the government? -

I don't think that's true. It's been up to localities to decide. I guess now you think it should be up to big gubbamint to decide what the standards should be? -
Well, the MAGA movement was defending Texeira as some kind of hero. Let's see how the latest revelations affect that MAGA-world is rushing to defend Jack Teixeira, the accused Pentagon leaker who allegedly dumped secret documents online to impress his teenage gamer buddies "Tonight, the news media are celebrating the capture of the kid who told Americans what's actually happening in Ukraine," Carlson said. "They are treating him like Osama bin Laden, maybe even worse actually, because, unlike Al Qaeda, apparently, this kid is a racist." While making the case that Ukraine was actually losing the war, Carlson shared bogus casualty figures from an altered version of one of the leaked documents that misleadingly slashed the number of estimated Russian casualties in the war. https://www.businessinsider.com/maga-world-defends-jack-teixeira-the-accused-pentagon-leaker-2023-4 White, Male, Christian And Antiwar’: Marjorie Taylor Greene Defends Suspected Classified Documents Leaker. In a tweet on Thursday, Greene identified Teixeira as “white, male, christian, and antiwar” and said this makes him “an enemy to the Biden regime.” The Georgia lawmaker then implied that President Joe Biden’s administration was “the real enemy” for “waging war in Ukraine . . . against nuclear Russia without war powers.” Greene defended Teixeira’s leaks, saying he revealed the truth about “troops being on the ground in Ukraine and a lot more.” https://www.forbes.com/sites/siladityaray/2023/04/14/white-male-christian-and-antiwar-marjorie-taylor-greene-defends-suspected-classified-documents-leaker/?sh=27b750dc5523

The Upper Atmosphere Is Cooling, Prompting New Climate Concerns
placeholder replied to onthedarkside's topic in World News
As the scientists involved with this research noted, if anyone, contrary to reason, needed any further proof that the global warming we are now experiencing is human-caused, this should put an end to that. If solar cycles were responsible, as a few recalcitrant diehards and the millions who subscribe to their views maintain, then the atmosphere would be heating throughout. But, as even the early models in the 70's predicted, as the troposphere warmed, the rest of the atmosphere would cool. Which is exactly what is occurring. -
Yes, he should have disclosed those vacations. But he didn't get a free private jet trip to get there and back. Or, for that matter, use that friend's private jet to fly around the country. He didn't have his friends buy some real estate and not disclose the sale. Nor did he have that friend fix up the property and let his mother stay there for free. Nor did he have a friend pay tuition for a child whose legal guardian he was.

Great article about how Trump has managed at the CNN Townhall to make things a lot legally worse for himself than they already are. For one thing, he acknowledged that he was at the White House just before he left office when he took the documents. That means he willfully took the documents. If he hadn't done that, he could have assigned responsibility to his aides. Also, if he had claimed that the items were in his office in Florida as his term ended, he could have claimed that he didn't move them. That defense is shot too. This also means that the venue of the crime was in D.C. Not Florida. So no chance of getting fangirl Aileen Cook as his judge. So much evidence of his cluelessness. https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2023/05/trump-mar-a-lago-classified-admission-cnn.html
