  1. Really? In that case it must be a bad bet for engines in ICE vehicles to last past 5 years or 60,000 miles.
  2. Studies of Older Electric Car Batteries Another EV that’s been on the road many years is the Tesla Model S. It launched in 2012 so battery scientists have a lot of data. Maarten Steinbuch, who shares community-sourced Tesla data, suggested in 2020 that drivers can expect faster decay in the first 25,000 mile with a much slower decay to 175,000 miles. https://www.recurrentauto.com/research/how-long-do-ev-batteries-last Also, the cost of replacing car batteries can be a lot lower if a refurbished battery is used: Nissan, for example, charges more than $12,000, but recently the company has offered a refurbished battery pack in Japan for less than $3,000. https://www.consumerreports.org/hybrids-evs/your-ev-questions-answered-electric-vehicle-faq/
  3. Well, as the data accumulates about battery life, it's becoming clear that they also mostly last far beyond the the guaranteed limits. So, just like it's common knowledge about engines, it's also becoming common knowledge about batteries. As the market grows, and it's growing very quickly, this will be widely understood.
  4. Powertrains warranties for ICE vehicles typically expire at 5 years or 60,000 miles. I guess nobody will buy an ICE vehicle nearing 5 years or 60,000 miles because they're afraid the engine will fail.
  5. Has it occurred to you that there's a reason why countries bordering Russia want to be members of NATO? Israel is not a permanent member of the Security Council so it couldn't have thrown "all Palestinian resolutions into the shredder."
  6. Mohammed also said "Respect the people of the book" in reference to Christians and Jews. Until the mid twentieth century large populations of Christians and Jews prospered in Arab countries in the middle east. Did Muslimis just discover the passage you cited less than 100 years ago? It's easy to pick passages out of the Old Testament, the New Testament, or the Koran to justify all kinds of horrors. And in fact, history is littered with those examples.
  7. Surprise, surprise!. Tina Peters Blames Election Fraud for Finishing 3rd in Colorado Primary Mesa County, Colorado, Clerk Tina Peters, who was indicted in March on multiple charges related to a breach in her county's election system, blamed voter fraud for her third-place finish in Tuesday's Republican primary for Colorado secretary of state. Peters, who received 28.3 percent of the vote finished third behind winner Pam Anderson, who had 43 percent, and Mike O'Donnell, who finished with 28.5 percent, according to results reported by the Associated Press. Peters' defeat was somewhat of a surprise as she received significant support from the Colorado Republican Party Assembly and Convention, which backed her with 60 percent of the vote in April. https://www.newsweek.com/tina-peters-blames-election-fraud-finishing-3rd-colorado-primary-1720206
  8. Really? Near Kherson, Ukrainians regain territory in major counteroffensive With Moscow concentrating its efforts on taking territory in Ukraine’s eastern Donbas region — battering cities, towns and Kyiv’s troops with a near-constant barrage of artillery fire — Ukraine has been able to make steady gains in the south. Village by village, more of the strategically important Kherson region is returning to Ukrainian control — another sign that Russia’s forces might be overextended with a front line that stretches about 300 miles... It’s the only position the Russians hold west of the Dnieper River, and a prime position to launch any future offensive down the Black Sea coast to the major port city of Odessa. https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2022/06/29/ukraine-kherson-counteroffensive-russia/
  9. Actually, not. Thailand annexed the Sultanate in 1902. In the Anglo-Siamese Treaty Thailand actually ceded part of that to the British. 'Ratifications were exchanged in London on 9 July 1909,[3] and the treaty established the modern Malaysia–Thailand border. The area around modern Pattani, Narathiwat, southernmost Songkhla, Satun, and Yala remained under Thai control, where decades later the South Thailand insurgency would erupt. Thailand relinquished its claims to sovereignty over Kedah (Thai: ไทรบุรี, romanized: Saiburi), Kelantan (กลันตัน, Kalantan), Perlis (ปะลิส, Palit) and Terengganu (ตรังกานู, Trangkanu) which entered the British sphere of influence as protectorates. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anglo-Siamese_Treaty_of_1909
  10. No, the province didn't belong to Malaysia. It was an independent Sultanate that was forcibly annexed by Thailand. Actually, a modus vivendi had been worked out between the southern provinces and the govt of thailand until Thaksin came along and tried to bring the south to heel. He should have let the arrangement alone. Still, it would have been better if Thailand hadn't annexed it in the first place.
  11. Actually, there already is a thread about EV's that allows for unrestricted criticism. https://aseannow.com/topic/1246109-ice-vs-ev-the-debate-thread/ And apparently you believe that you and your fellow believers get to own this new one? Persecution complex much? Typical.
  12. Billionaire oligarch called 'Putin's favorite industrialist' says 'destroying Ukraine would be a colossal mistake' Oleg Deripaska, a billionaire aluminum tycoon and close Vladimir Putin ally, spoke out against the war in Ukraine on Tuesday while speaking with local journalists, suggesting there would be no winner following Russia's invasion, Reuters reported. "I'm troubled by how quickly we abandoned everything that was achieved (economically) in the '90s, then we abandoned everything that we achieved in the 2000s, and now we are sitting and waiting for victory. https://news.yahoo.com/billionaire-oligarch-called-putins-favorite-222054162.html
  13. Do you understand that you are supporting the argument that progressives support concerning the "living constitution"?
  14. How much is my Model 3 worth in resale and trade value? The Tesla Model 3 holds one of the highest used car and EV resale values. Specifically, the 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021 model years have the most retained value to offer owners. Cars.com reports that the Tesla Model 3 is worth 12 percent more in resale value than in 2019. https://www.motorbiscuit.com/tesla-model-3-could-shock-you-with-its-resale-value/
  15. You expect people to spend half an hour viewing a car dealer dispute the science behind climate change? It is to laugh.
  16. Here's some news that might assuage those with doubts about the prospects for battery improvement China’s CATL Announces 1,000-Km / 620-Mile CTP 3.0 EV Battery China’s Contemporary Amperex Technology Company Limited (or CATL for short), the world’s biggest EV battery manufacturer, has just announced a technology breakthrough that bumps up the energy density of the cells it produces... They have now managed to bring its energy density up to 255 Wh/kg. Charging times have dropped too, with CATL noting that with this new tech, charging from 10 to 80 percent will be possible in about 10 minutes, or as low as 5 minutes with a ‘hot start’ which we presume means preconditioning the battery beforehand. https://insideevs.com/news/594134/catl-qilin-new-high-energy-density-battery/
  17. You would rather I invented something? If that's what you're after, there are already already more than enough members eager to accommodate you in that way.
  18. Actually as I pointed out above it was conservative voters who in August of 2021 registered a sharp disapproval of Johnson with a 36% drop in popularity. Are these the "very same people" that you're referring to?
  19. Tagged at the end? Isn't it part of the same sentence? Maybe this could be a problem for a special type of dyslexic person.
  20. You might want to look up judge David Carter. In a civil case being brought against Trump he thought that it was likely that Trump had engaged in a criminal conspiracy
  21. There are electronic toll systems for major highways in the USA. So it really isn't going to be much of a problem. Local roads are usually maintained by county or municipal goverments. Sometimes the State shares revenue with them, other times local taxes cover the cost.
  22. Does it tell you anything that the major manufacturers of EV's are having trouble keeping up can't keep up with demand as things now stand?
  23. The presenter starts out by claiming he's no expert. So why should I spend 26 minutes listening to him? There are experts and reports about the findings of experts that can be read in considerably less than 26 minutes and pack in a lot more information.
  24. Why would batteries have to last for 30 years. Do people expect ICE vehicles to last for 30 years? EV's are less damaging environmentally than ICE vehicles https://cleantechnica.com/2022/02/22/yale-study-puts-the-kibosh-on-ev-emissions-myth/
  25. Out of an abundance of caution. Keep in mind that this technology was very news and there wasn't a lot of data about longevity out there.
