The bailout was for a disastrous real estate investment made by Jared kushner. It could have taken down the entire kushner family. This was while kushner was playing interlocutor between the Saudis and the qataris. Just one of many victories for the Trump family.

This is the same oil that Trump pushed so hard for in support of the Keystone 2 pipeline. Take away the oil and the US actually runs a positive trade balance with Canada. I remember when South Park ran an episode with the theme Blame Canada. At the time it was funny because blaming Canada was such an absurd idea. It's still absurd but not so funny.

Unlike members of the MAGA mind meld, Europeans don't deny that tariffs will be bad for business. But they understand it will be bad for everybody. Remember that Trump's understanding of tariffs can be diagnosed by his claim that China not US consumers will pay for the tariffs.
