Elon Musk and his incompetent doge team
Patong2021 replied to OneMoreFarang's topic in Political Soapbox
It is not about defunding. It is about the creation of a massive security breach in the USA. Elon Musk is creating hundreds, if not thousands of people with a grudge, who may very well become enablers of foreign sabotage, espionage and even violence. The DOGE team has removed critical personnel from the US security infrastructure. This is following the plotline of a James Bond movie, with Spectre gaining control of the US government. -
Rising Anti-Israel Sentiments in Pai Following Tourists Misconduct
Patong2021 replied to webfact's topic in Chiang Mai News
Ok, so I mistyped. You know what I meant. And no, Thailand does not have an issue with israelis going back decades. You are presenting your own bias. On the contrary, Israel and Thailand have enjoyed a very warm relationship. That relationship has grown closer as Israel has come to depend on Thai labour. It is the muslim dominated parts of the world that has not had a good relationship with Thailand. In case you forgot, muslims consider Buddhists to be idol worshippers, the worst of the infidels. If you took the time to study the teachings of Islam you would understand why that is. Islam does not consider Buddhism to be a divinely revealed religion. The common view is that Buddhism (and Hinduism) have corrupted corrupted Christianity from its original monotheistic message, which was derived from Judaism. Islam doesn't just condemn idol worship and polytheism, but takes a hard line on the practice of magic or supernatural powers. Buddhism is said to be the source of the Sufi deviancy that claims that Sufis can attain supernatural powers through spiritual exercises. This results in an inherent disdain and contempt for Buddhists by Muslims. There are far more Europeans, and Australians per capita causing problems in Thailand than Israelis. -
Correct. Unless you are trained to deal with the mentally ill, you are wasting your time. They can genuinely be organically impaired such that they believe their delusions and cannot be reasoned with. The only way to manage them is through medication, or incarceration if they are violent. And then there are the those who are so emotionally immature and dysfunctional that they think they are being funny when they promote obvious lies and fabrications. They thrive on the annoyance and disruption that they cause. It should be obvious that when someone is denying the existence of the Corona virus, the person is not normal and should therefore be treated in the same manner as one would treat the more obviously mentally ill.

I am not disagreeing with your opinion that Thailand has high tariffs, but you picked some products where the higher costs are attributable to market characteristics and not tariffs. We all struggle with the issue of undergarments (and shoes too). I have just returned from the USA ,(Florida) and was flabbergasted by the cost of everything. Doritos used to be $2.99 for a big bag and now they are $5.29 (on sale). The cost is similar at Villa. I walked into a Target and was in shock at the prices on clothing. I needed a basic pair of sandals -flip flops, that I used to be able to by for under $7. at Walgreens or at Old Navy. I had to pay $18.99. I am sort of surprised to see that US food conglomerates, like Tyson and Orida are stocked at my local Lotus and they are priced competitively with the local Thai monopolies. However, the US government has this to say about Thai tariffs; High tariffs in many sectors continue to hinder access to the Thai market for many U.S. products. The highest ad valorem tariff rates apply to imports competing with locally produced goods, including automobiles and automotive parts, motorcycles, beef, pork, poultry, tea, tobacco, flowers, beer and spirits, and textiles and apparel. Wine imports are subject to a 54 percent tariff and six different taxes; taken together, the effective duty and tax burden is nearly 400 percent. Industry has raised concerns about the import tariffs on wine and disparate ad valorem taxes that appear to favor domestic white liquor. Despite Thailand’s 20-year Alternative Energy Development Plan (2018-2037), which aims to increase biofuels consumption, Thailand restricts the import of biofuels intended for fuel use. Fuel ethanol imports require approval and issuance of permits by Thailand’s Ministry of Energy, but to date the ministry has not issued any approvals or permits. Thailand originally aimed to phase out premium gasoline containing 10 percent ethanol blends (Octane 91 E10) by 2018 and octane 95 E10 E85 between 2023 and 2027, with the intention of making 20 percent ethanol blends (E20) the primary gasohol. However, concerns over sufficient feedstock availability in Thailand have repeatedly delayed the full transition from E10 to E20.

Trump’s Proposal for Gazan Relocation makes perfect sense
Patong2021 replied to Social Media's topic in The War in Israel
The Hashemites are a minority in a nation where a majority of the population identify as Palestinian. The King knows from experience the violence they are capable of. At some point, the Hashemites will be pushed aside and the Palestinian nation will take its rightful place in Jordan, uniting with parts of the West Bank of Israel. -
The go to excuse is always " mental health issues". Yes, it is reasonable to say that one has to be seriously screwed up to drive a vehicle through a crowd, targeting children. However, that does not mean the responsible party is mentally ill. Mental health issues are often intentionally confused with intentional actions and is a means to ignore a culture that teaches such actions are acceptable. Use mental health as an excuse to avoid dealing with an inconvenient truth that some cultures are inherently barbaric and cruel. It is a "normal" event for shiites and sunnis to bomb each other's mosques. It is part of some of their cultures to use the organically impaired ( aka the mentally retarded) and the vulnerable (e.g. depressed) as suicide bombers. It is acceptable in their community to lie, to rape infidels, to locate munitions depots below schools and hospitals and to hide missile firing positions in residential areas. The sad reality, is that we are faced with members of a community resistant to respecting the morals, laws and culture to the places they have immigrated to. They view the generosity of the host nation as weakness and their religion teaches them, compels them to exploit the host compassion and welcome to further their own culture and religion.

Ok. However, weren't you previously saying that the Trump collective would change all that? And no there isn't any evidence to support your claim that the 3 presidents you mention profited from their activity while in office. Trump obliges his secret service detail and white house workers to pay for accommodation and meals at Trump owned facilities when he makes his near weekly return to his home in Florida. Why is Musk allowed access to business competitors' files and contracts? Why was he meeting with Modi at the White House to discuss his projects in India? The MAGA collective would be the first to scream and claim criminal conspiracies if it was anyone other than the Trump cabal.

Tourist Brawl in Phuket Sparks Debate on Visitor Behavior - video

Get a grip. They behave like this back in the 18 & 19ieme arrondisements. However, back home when they leave their self created ghettos, they are typically fighting with the gendarmerie or harassing French jews. -

Ahh yes, the pride and joy of France. Let's see if the forum's pitchfork brigade will have as much venom for these people as they did for the mild incident in Pai. -
Rising Anti-Israel Sentiments in Pai Following Tourists Misconduct
Patong2021 replied to webfact's topic in Chiang Mai News
Not really. The jew bashers toss out this chestnut to provide cover for their hateful positions. The reality is that the people who claim to be non zionist jews are not really jewish. They neither practice the religion nor affiliate with the community. They are not a particularly large group either. They typically fall into three groups; 1. A small religious cult which does not accept the state of Israel, because they believe that there cannot be a state until the messiah arrives. 2. Marxists, Communists, Trotskyites and other extreme left wing political adherents and 3. Mentally ill people with low self esteem and self loathing. They know little about Israel or zionism. A jew typically follows their bible and their opening prayer has been the same since they were living in the Land of Israel thousands of years ago; "Hear, O Israel: the Lord is our God, the Lord is One." Israel is what that they are connected too, much as the Italian diaspora is connected to Ireland or Italians to Italy, Greeks to Greece etc. -
No one deserves it, but one can easily avoid the tragedy. It takes a special kind of stupid to approach an apex predator and offer oneself up as prey.

That system didn't seem to work with the Afghan nurses who claimed to be doctors and were boasting how they killed Israelis, then jews at the hospital in NSW Australia. The disgusting aspect of this event is that no one in the muslim community or the Afghan community has condemned the event. no unequivocal condemnations. Just excuses. The Imams are quick to claim Islamophobia whenever one of their own says there has been an offence, but they never step up when there is an attack like this.

The man was being polite with the invite. Nothing in wrong in not staying. Windsor guest rooms are described as a throwback to the 1970's, so it is understandable why someone might not want to stay. She is being civil in attending the dinner. It is not unreasonable that she not stay for the pajama party.

Chinese Tourists Choose Japan Over Thailand for New Year
Patong2021 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Not mentioned are the demographics of the Chinese tourists. Japan is attracting the quality tourists. No buffet attacking savages. No spitters. Just big spenders. The sources from which the article is taken, state that Chinese tourists in Japan spent about 1.73 trillion yen (US$11 billion). A lot of that spend used to be done in Thailand. Safe roads, clean air, quality food, reliable policing, potable water make even a low cost Japan visit a luxury experience compared to a visit to Thailand. And it is a good thing to as it helps normalize relations between the two and will allow a made in Asia solution to the psychopath in North Korea. -
The G7 member economies that the USA has declared financial hostilities with, will indeed step up to look after themselves and that will come with a pivot to China as you mention. Canada will be forced into selling more oil to China, and perhaps an eventual switch away from the USA. It will move to normalize relations with China and build stronger economic ties to latin america. The EU will normalize with China as well and look to replace USA trade with Chinese and Asian trade growth. The end result is that China's influence will grow, while the USA's shrinks. The USA is alienating both Canada and the EU. The impact will be seen in the decades to come as the USA's largest trading partners turn away from the USA. It won't matter to most Trump voters, because a large number will be dead by then. The influence of the USA will be like a fireworks that launches, explodes with great force and then comes crashing down in a puff of smoke.

Thai Baht Set to Weaken as US Tariff Tensions Escalate
Patong2021 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It will most certainly damage the Thai economy and some of the most economically vulnerable of Thais will suffer when they can't sell their products into the USA. The US agriculture and seafood lobby has been lobbying against Thai food products (seafood, rice) for years. Tariffs will be applied to Thai products. The assumption/hope that Trump and his plan sponsors have is that the foreign currencies exchange rate with the USD will crash and that the increased costs consumers will pay, will be offset by the depreciation of the exporter currencies. The Trump plan requires foreign currencies to depreciate, otherwise the tariffs will hurt US consumers and will cause inflation to increase. It is a gamble. The Trump plan does not take into account that the USA will be taking on multiple foreign economies at once. It might have had a chance to work if it was 1 or 2 weak economies at a time, but the Trump tariffs will attack G7 member economies at the same time it hits Thailand and India. You have been watching too many US war movies which present an historically incorrect version of events. The initial comment was made in respect to the USA saving Europe. The war with Japan is not germane. The battle of the atlantic was won in large part because of three factors; Air Superiority, Intelligence, and large numbers of vessels. The RCAF coastal command and RCAF Ferry Command deployed longer range aircraft after 1942. By 1944, every convoy had permanent air capability with the introduction of the MAC- merchant air capability that had 1 convoy include a vessel equipped with 4-6 submarine hunters. The pilots who flew off of these vessels were some of the most skilled pilots in the war, taking off from small decked vessels and flying in harsh conditions. The Allied Signals intelligence group broke the Enigma code. The Signals group was populated by some of the best and brightest British and Commonwealth sourced minds. The large numbers of merchant vessels that were organized into convoys were crewed primarily by British, Norwegian, Danish, Dutch, Canadian and Polish merchant seamen on mostly British and Canadian vessels. Norway had the 4th largest merchant marine capability in the world at the outbreak of WWII. Many brave Norwegians went with their vessels to Great Britain where they worked the convoys, with thousands dying in the process. Yes, the USA made a tremendous contribution and Europeans should be grateful, but the USA has a bad habit of claiming that it did everything on its own for the greater good, and that just isn't true.

Thailand Tops LGBTQ Tourism; Spending Soars by 38%

You are right. However, once the Europeans and Canadians start avoiding US products and traveling to the USA, it will impact the US economy and US citizens will get a jolt. Australia entered into the purchase when the USA was a reliable ally and its signature on a treaty or trade agreement could be respected. As the US attempt to bully Canada and to annex Greenland demonstrates, the USA can no longer be trusted and is not a reliable ally. Do not be surprised if Australia withdraws from the purchase agreement. Canada is shopping for new submarines too and Australia helps train Canadian submarine personnel. The two them might revisit the Europeans to source the new submarines. How incredibly arrogant. The USA did not enter WWII until Pearl Harbor and even then it took months to undertake direct action against Germany in November 1942. Until that time, the UK may have been on life support, but Canada was arguably the saviour of Europe. Canada and Newfoundland had 1 million people in uniform. It was Canadian munitions and food that sustained the UK for years, sent on European and Canadian ships protected by the 4th largest navy, the Royal Canadian Navy. Norwegian and Danish merchantmen were putting their lives at risk for freedom years before the USA joined the fight. Commonwealth nations Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Rhodesia contributed significant amounts of manpower and resources too. Commonwealth air crews were flying back to back sorties in bad weather and thick anti aircraft blankets over Germany in RAF and RCAF aircraft while US servicemen were complaining about the travails of basic training in sunny Miami. The USA entered the war because of Pearl Harbor and was content to bleed the British dry with lend lease and to watch the world disintegrate in hopes that it could one day dominate. Trump has picked a fight with the very nations that the USA needs and will need. the wake up call to the USA is on the way.

Pattaya's Pedestrian Perils: Crumbling Walkways and Traffic Chaos
Patong2021 replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
The school work was started 3 weeks ago. IMO poor construction quality. looks like they are trying to have this done for Songkran. I have never seen such watery cement and it is not poured on gravel, but direct on the dirt and is a fraction of the depth we see in places like Singapore, Miami, Lisbon etc. They were pouring cement during the peak tourist season in the block south of Market Village, and you don't need to be a genius to know what happened next: people walked into the cement. There are footprints through one stretch. They don't even properly mark off the work so the clueless people just wander on through. They are trying to bring in lowered sections at each end of the block. Unfortunately, they didn't take into consideration the width of child strollers or wheelchairs, so they are not compatible, They are not even standardized. I don't know what they were thinking. Doesn't look like there were engineers supervising either, otherwise the defects would have been addressed. -
I am told that the use of marking is for inventory management and loss. Marking the commodity is similar in concept to branding cattle and affixing inventory tags to livestock ears. It can also be used for best before purposes. As the tagged item ages, the tattoos deteriorate with skin and fat changes. A blurred and faded tat indicates that the commodity is past its prime. Trust this helps.
