Congo Fever Sparks Heightened Checks at Suvarnabhumi Airport
Patong2021 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Are you really this ignorant? Hemorrhagic fevers are some of the most deadly infections in the world. Depending on the virus causing it, the mortality rate can reach 40%. What are bioweapon shots? Is this your attempt to dismiss vaccines? Again, another display of ignorance. With the exception of ebola, there are no vaccines. Nor are the magical potions that you might use such as ivermectin or bleach enemas going to help. These are deadly, painful and messy illnesses. Without the intervention of the WHO , how are you going to contain the spread of the illness? Congo has travel links to the world. All it takes are a few Congo nationals to infect the population of Belgium, and then the EU is infected and then places like Thailand. -
Did you miss "The Israel Defense Forces said its Oct. 26 raid knocked out Iranian missile factories and air defences in three waves of strikes. Researchers said that based on satellite imagery, targets included buildings once used in Iran's nuclear programme." https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/israels-strikes-iran-spark-interest-air-launched-ballistic-missiles-2024-11-04/

FYI: There are security issues when using public space wifi. Although calls may be encrypted, there are vulnerabilities with public free wifi. Then don't pay the monthly fee. Purchase a phone number as needed. Multiple e-sim options are available that provide a set number of calling minutes in the period selected. Otherwise, you will just have to pay the approx. $20 USD monthly cost to maintain capability. Alosim gives 1 GB for 1 day @ $4.50, with calling/ Global esim offers options of 1 day -30 days starting at $4.50 and 100 minutes of calling for an additional $10, with a separate phone number. You can structure it as a pay as you go format. The connect to local networks. In the USA, they usually are linked to Verizon, AT&T or T Mobile and will offer a local phone number. Honestly, I have a difficult time understanding why people are so cheap on this issue. It is a cost of being located in a foreign location.

Astigmatism as mentioned above is a deformation of the eyeball. Everyone has a different type of astigmatism because eyeball structure is different for everyone. Correcting the defect now will also treat learning difficulties because the kid is unable to see what the teacher is writing on a board or what other people are doing at a distance. It's great that the school identified the problem. There is no advantage in the school trying to game you. The services provided are at a predetermined affordable rate. Now that you know there is a vision problem, the child should be checked every year, because the vision will change as the kid grows and the eyeball changes shape. At some point, a proper full exam by a pediatric medical specialist is recommended to screen for other diseases of the eye that often accompany astigmatism.

most companies have alternatives to local toll free. One looks on their website, or sends an email to ask if there is a non toll free number. If you really need to call then buy an international esim that includes international calling. There are literally dozens of reputable firms available on the internet who provide international calling, some unlimited and some capped at 60 - 100 minutes a month, The cost is anywhere from 10 GBP- 20 GBP a month. I recently had to travel to the USA. I purchased a North American SIM for USD for $12 for the time I was there (10 days, 60 minutes, 10GB of data, 5G network. The reseller used the Verizon network. Most telephones can handle multiple esims. I have 3 now. I will probably add another for when I am in japan next week.

You can still deposit at the ATM. You will receive a deposit confirmation, You can then update your bank book . The reality is that very few people still use those books. They are expected to be eliminated in the not too distant future, so you might as well get used to electronic banking statements and phone apps that update after transactions.

Novelty hats can easily be made in the USA. Trump chooses to buy Chinese products manufactured in China. Perhaps it is because he prefers to do business with CHINA over the USA.

Did you miss the part about the fellow taking a swing at the Thai? Seems to me a bully got his just reward. -
No one in Taiwan favours government from Beijing. The Taiwanese have all seen what happened in Hong Kong. Air China is an awful airline and not even comparable to EVA Air. No it will not take over EVA. You are clueless as to the importance of Taiwan to the western world. Taiwan is critical for the defense of Japan, South Korea, and the Philippines. The loss of Taiwan is game over for US influence in Asia. It would also be a major blow to the US economy and national security. Taiwan is the source of a large part of the world's most valuable electronic components including core processors, modems, Wi-Fi chips, and premium optical lenses. The USA missiles and drones often rely on parts sourced from Taiwan. Taiwan is also a major supplier to the pharmaceutical supply chain. can the world afford to see China dominate critical manufacturing sectors? Israel took Iran down a few notches. I suggest 2 years. I have a feeling that the US midterm election is going to send a strong message to Trump.

Ok. However, you are one of the first who would use the insult sleepy joy. And yet you ignore the fact that Donald Trump dozed off during an important state occasion. He is quick to admonish the President of Ukraine for being modestly dressed, but himself showed great disrespect the the elder statesman of the USA.

I believe that both Trump and Vance have low I.Q's
Patong2021 replied to advancebooking's topic in Political Soapbox
You will not gain anything by insulting the intelligence of either Trump or Vance. They do not have low IQs. On the contrary they are intelligent, and are masters at understanding human behaviour. These men were able to succeed at what they did. There are many negatives that attach to both men, but unintelligent is not one of them. Trump has kept his real estate operation afloat for decades. Despite all the bankruptcies and legal losses, he is still going strong, outwitting and outsmarting his detractors. He followed his own gut when he would go off script and it worked. He knew his audience better than the media geniuses who were supposed to be experts. Vance was smart enough to get where he was. Both are ruthless. Trump is a lot smarter than you think and has a much better understanding of the US population and the electorate than all the ivy league political behavioural mappers and strategists. It is derived from his ability to promote real estate. In many respects the man has some admirable qualities. -
Macron gave a lesson in international diplomacy. A successful international leader will know his nation's place, its strengths and weaknesses and leverage what there is to advocate for their national interest. Sadly, Starmer fell flat. He was as pathetic as Trudeau. Netanyahu has perfected this skill. He is probably more pushy and aggressive than Zelenskyy, but he knows to never directly challenge Trump or to expose a Trump falsehood when together with him in public. Other successful diplomats play to Trump's ego; Orban is an expert. Putin is similar.

Trump fell asleep at Jimmy Carter's funeral. Will you be criticizing him for that?

35 Senate seats are up for election in 2026. There is a strong likelihood that that the Democrats will hold their seats, including the tossups in Georgia and Maine and flip 2 or more Republican seats. All 435 Congressional Districts will be up for election and the Democrats need to pick up only 3 seats. The DOGE campaign is hitting some districts who went Republican in 2024 hard. Places like Bucks county, or VA's 10th district have large numbers of laid off federal workers. Farm belt USA will soon see the impact of the cuts and the tariffs. The best is yet to come once military bases are closed. By 2026, it will be a somewhat different political landscape in the USA and MAGA will most likely be seeing some significant loss of influence in the House. Trump might become a very lame duck president.

Violent Night Out: Security Guard Assaults Tourists on Bangla Road
Patong2021 replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
The brawlers often lose their T-shirts and footwear in their altercation. Shirts can get ripped or pulled off. Other times, they will "throw down" and take off their Tshirt to reduce the potential for an opponent to grab onto it. -
Attaching themselves to a political cause allows people who would otherwise be nobodies because they are poorly educated and/or stupid and/or social pariahs and/or of limited financial means, in effect powerless, to feel that they have influence. Some are mentally ill, imagining a conspiracy lurks behind every corner. If you were to do a sociodemographic profile of the most vociferous of the MAGA collective, or the leftist collective on AN you would find many more similarities between their profiles than with people who are mostly centrists or moderate in their views. Ever notice that whether it is MAGA or the self proclaimed socially progressive leftist that much of what they claim relies on imaginary conspiracies? With MAGA it is a deep state run by leftists and pronoun people. With the leftists it is a deep state run by capitalists and bigots, even though they are as bigoted as those they oppose. Their positions are fueled by hate, jealousy and resentment.

Trump’s Proposal for Gazan Relocation makes perfect sense
Patong2021 replied to Social Media's topic in The War in Israel
It's a chicken and egg issue in the west bank. The Hamas and Islamic Jihad operatives have been active since the start of the Gaza conflict. They attacked civilians and non military targets. The Israeli's responded. The settler community has its faults, but it has been attacked multiple times, so its people get angry that Israel "doesn't protect them" and retaliate. It also serves the political interests of factions opposed to the PLA in the west bank and for the extremists in the Israeli government. Both thrive on the conflict. Both would be out of a job if the conflict stopped. -
President Zelenskyy has been targeted for death ever since he was elected President. The Russians have tried multiple times. You live with constant death threats in a war zone and see how tolerant you are of a bully who dismisses the sacrifice of Ukraine.
