Vietnam Ranks Phu Quoc as 9th Friendliest Destination
Danang is not Hoi An, although they are close. I loved Danang, and found the people there much more honest. Also, my visit was 9 years ago, so things might have changed. Hoi An is a lovely place, and even if you still get overcharged, you should visit, it's a small town, you can see all the sights in a day or two.

Vietnam Ranks Phu Quoc as 9th Friendliest Destination
That is true, of course. So would love an update, because it is probably the most beautiful town in Vietnam, and almost a must visit. But friendliness is not worth much if it's used to rip you off. In the Mekong Delta area, where I live now, they are both friendly and honest, as far as I can tell.

Red void stamp in passport
It doesn't help at the border when entering the country, but the embassies (unless something has changed recently) are/were not connected to the immigration database. So it helps with getting a visa. In the past, it was usually possible to get around 6 or 7 TV until they put a red stamp under your visa, saying that you have been doing this for too long and that they might (meaning will) refuse your application next time. That's when I always got a new passport and was able to start over again The embassies are under the foreign secretary, not part of immigration.

Bus Bangkok to Pattaya
Both, the Ekamai and the Morchit bus go to the north Pattaya bus station, not Jomtien.

Brits behaving very badly again!
Not so sure it was really that much better back in 90s.Pattaya has probably 20 times as many tourists now. So the "per capita" figures could be similar. Plus, with the ubiquitous smartphones, recordings, and postings on social media these incidents become much more "visible".

Rayong Immigration 90 day report question
I always go in there in my cycling shorts. Never been a problem.

Rayong Immigration 90 day report question
I don't know how it works for the 90 day reporting, but for extensions chances are that you will have to go in the morning to be able to get a number and join the queue. I was in there twice in December just after the lunch break, and the queue was closed. The second time, after a lot of begging, they said OK, but I would be last. So I sat there from 1 to 5 pm. And there weren't many Lao/Cambodian. It was farang /Chinese/Korean. Most of them I assume, work in Mataphut, so might not be much better during off season. You would think that with the much bigger, new immigration office things would be faster than in the crammed old one, but the opposite seems to be the case.

Thailand Denies Airport Extortion Allegations
I cycled the 25 km on the new, wide Hun Sen Boulevard, crossing the Xi Jinping and Mao Tse Tong boulevards. Surprised that they didn't name the new airport after one of the dynastic leaders, Hun Sen or Hun Manut. Maybe Hun the third will have an airport named after him.

Vietnam Ranks Phu Quoc as 9th Friendliest Destination
Yes, people on the island are friendly, and surprisingly honest, considering the number of tourists. But the survey is BS, there is absolutely no way that Hoi An tops the list, unless it has drastically changed since I visited in 2017. It is the rip off capital of Vietnam, nowhere else that I know of, do you get cheated as much as in Hoi An. Hanoi could be second on the dishonesty list.

Kristi Noem: Six headlines that defined her turbulent time in office
Not enough. She has to be investigated, and hopefully incarcerated for corruption, unlawful conduct, and lying under oath. This could happen as soon as Jan 27, when the Dems take over Congress. The question is, will his orangeness pardon her?

Red void stamp in passport
You are definitely more likely to come under scrutiny, be questioned, and denied entry than someone with a similar visa history who doesn't have such a stamp. Now might be the time to get a new passport.

Do you approve of tatts on a woman's mammary glands, buttocks? How about nipple, labia, tongue piercings? 😜

Immigration Tighten Visa Rules to Combat Transnational Crime
I think he is talking about visa extensions at immigration offices in Thailand, where the red tape is truly remarkable, and results in waiting times of hours just for a 30 day extension of a Tourist visa.

Thailand Denies Airport Extortion Allegations
Had the same experience last month at the new airport in Phnom Penh , except that the luggage arrived almost instantly too, much faster than Suvarnabhumi. Especially the bicycle, oversized baggage, at Suvarnabhumi I wait on average 30 minutes, Techo airport it was 5 minutes.

Thailand Denies Airport Extortion Allegations
Sufficient funds yes, hotel accommodation sometimes, but clear travel itinerary not required for most countries, and is a joke anyway, as backpackers, bikers, and a lot of ordinary tourists want to explore the country freely and rarely have a clear itinerary. As a matter of fact, Thai authorities don't really care about your travel itinerary either.

Thailand Denies Airport Extortion Allegations
That "charge" (bribe) they call a stamp fee, and is usually 5 $ on top of the 30 $ VOA fee. Happens at most land borders, not at airports, but they don't /can't deny you entry if you refuse to pay the bribe, they just make a scene, and in some cases "delay" the issuance of the visa.

A small Tip goes a long way!
Yes, Pattaya attracts scumbag from abroad, but also from all over Thailand. Thais kinda know or assume that Pattaya is full of dumb farangs that can be scammed, cheated, taken advantage of in some way. That attracts those Thais that are more than willing to use and exploit others for financial gains. From ladyboys that pickpocket or Rob Indians, to barworkers that "love" a dozen different "fiances" from 4 different continents, to shortchanging 7/11 cashiers, which has never happened to me outside of Pattaya.

German Tourist Heartbroken as Thailand Trip Axed
Doesn't this depend on your ticket? If you book a refundable flight wouldn't you be able to get a refund. If you booked a flight that allows rescheduling, I assume you would be able to fly on a later date.
