It recently occurred to me that the weekly, usually Saturdays, Rooster column hasn't been around for a while, probably a year or so. What happened to the Rooster? Did he quit, was he fired, did he follow the legendary Night Owl, Bernard Trink, into the great beyond?

It doesn't really exist here, but it is probably one of the easiest country in the world to get a ride if you are a farang, better even a farang with a bicycle. I have been doing it for ages, and most of the time I get a ride in under 30 minutes. I don't do it to save money, but because of convenience. riding my bike in the countryside till I get tired, and then hitch a ride to my destination, which used to be BKK. No fun cycling into BKK. I often ask the driver whether he would have picked me up if it had been a Thai man, and 90 % say no way, too dangerous. The reverse happens in farangland, where I have spent up to 7 hours waiting for a ride. Farangs are scared of farangs, Thais are scared of Thais. I assume that the Turkish fellow didn't look " farang" enough, more "kaek" /Muslim. Also he tried to get a ride in the city, BKK of all places, which is much more difficult than getting one in the countryside heading back to the city.

Because they are mentally ill themselves. -
If you voted for the clown, you are much more likely than not, to be an ignorant idiot, low IQ, score high on the F-scale, a misogynistic racist... in short not a pleasant person to be with.

Phuket Adventure Ends Badly for Bag-Snatching Aussies

So there would have been a lighter sentence if a bicycle had been utilised in the commission of the crime? A Jogger would have gotten an even lighter sentence. A person in a wheelchair just a 100 Baht fine. Good to know. -

There are just too many bars, a massive oversupply of beer bars. If you want to lose money, open a beer bar. -

Finding Good Reliable Generic Drugs in Thailand
thecyclist replied to kingofallasians's topic in Health and Medicine
I found the bigger pharmacies near the central market in Phnom Penh fairly reliable. Never seen anything from Pakistan there, though. Lot's from India, Malaysia, and the more expensive stuff from France. -

And, most certainly, also in Rayong. -
Russian Tourist's Pattaya Adventure Sours with Luggage Theft
thecyclist replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
Maybe he was in the shower, or asleep. Ladyboys sometimes hide under the bed. There was a story, years ago in a Pattaya hotel , of a corpse "hiding" under the bed. The new guests were unable to sleep because of the stench in the room, and found the source of the stench right under them. It's Pattaya, anything is possible. -

Remember the olden days in Thailand?
thecyclist replied to swissie's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
That's exactly right. In the eighties the visa exemption was only 15 days, so very few long term farangs would do regular border runs. It was down to the Consulate in Penang for a double entry non-immigrant visa, which required no paperwork whatsoever. -
New Bus Routes Link Bangkok Airports to Pattaya and Hua Hin
thecyclist replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
I assume this will be in addition to the already existing Roong Rueang Suvarnabhumi to Jomtien route. Not much of an improvement, as Roong Rueang runs every hour. -
Have you considered changing your name to captain retard.? It would be more reflective of the inner workings/or lack thereof, of your cognitive potential.

Tourist Brawl in Phuket Sparks Debate on Visitor Behavior - video
thecyclist replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
Very little, if anything, to do with 'free' visas, unless you make visas so expensive that only his holiness, the supreme jerk Elongus Maximus Mask and Co can visit, like 20 mil for a one day visa. If you can afford a week in the overpriced pearl, you can afford to pay for a visa, and then do the fighting with a visa. A fighter without visa and a fighter with a visa, same fists, same punches, same brainless skulls. IQ tests before you are aloud in might help. By the way, the locals fight, and stab and shoot, a lot more than visitors. -
Thailand Ranked 106th in English Proficiency Out of 116 Countries

Yes you can tell how long they have been in the (farang) business by their English proficiency. I stay away from the ones whose English is very good. Too "contaminated". -

Singapore Philippines. Malaysia, are, of course way, way ahead of Thailand (the advantages of having been colonized by an English speaking nation. But Vietnam, really? They have even greater problems learning English, just like most farangs find Vietnamese even harder than Thai.
