  1. I like so many of us am keen to get registered to have the AZ vaccine as soon as it is available.

I note many Provinces are making it possible for registration to take place and some if not all, are advising dates and times when the actual vaccination will be administered, particularly Chiang Mai who are very pro-active.   Yet here in Khon Kaen all enquirries I have made i.e Private Hospitals and the Amphur, are met with ' we don't have any vaccine and don't know when we will get any.  I accept that availablity is currently an unknown factor, but there is nothing to stop them registering people as other Provinces appear to be doing.

So if anyone can enlighten me as to why Khon Kaen appears to be behid the curve, I would welcome the input.

  2. I managed to register using the currrent App for a vaccination.   I received a reply which asked for my current address and age.   I am soon to be 83.  I was then required to choose which hospital.    At the end Iwas informed (No choice) that I would receive the Sinovac vaccine and was required to agree or not to that vaccine.   Needless to say I declined.

This vaccine has not been tested onpeople over 60 plus the Thai PM declined his shot of Sinovac and waited instead for the A Z vaccine.

I will now wait until the Private hospitals are offering AZ, which I understand could be in the period June to August 2021 (Hopefully)

However, none of the Private hospitals in the Province which I live (Khon Kaen) can offer any information on the subject.   All my phone calls and visits are met with the same 'sorry no hab vaccine' and 'no register names'

i think the trip I did not want to make to the UK is fast approaching!

Only the $100k Covid is required from the UK with existing retirement e

I had this confirmed by email yesterday (13 May 2021) by RTE London, they added ' please print the insurance certificate and all pages of the terms and conditions on the COVID coverage and medical benefits (some people were refused to board the flight because they could not show that their insurance meet this 'requirement).'

    from OP Tanoshi:

'May I enquire if your married to a Thai and have an extension of stay based on marriage.

It does make a difference regarding the Health Insurance requirement'

Answe/Question: I am married to a Thai National and I have a Non Immigrant O visa based on marriage issued inThailand,  plus a  yellow book and a Pink ID Card.  This changes the necessity for General Health Cover?

I note on another thread on the same subject, General Health Cove rwas not required to get a COE from RTE London.

    Many thanks

The embassy website states that the 40/400k baht medical insurance is required to get a certificate of entry (COE). It has to be valid for your length of stay which would be the day your re-entry permit expires.

Immigration Khon Kaen say for Re-Entry, Health Insurance not required.   Only required for New Applications.   Anyones guess as usual!!!

  6. I am planning to go the the UK in September this year to visit my family and will hopefully return early November.

I am aware of the requirements to be able to return but I am unsure of the need for Health Insurance.   I have read the RTE London instruction ( re para 7) which states that 40/400K health insurance is required for O/O - O/A visas.    However my local Immigration office have told me that as my yearly extension is based on Non Immigrant O, that apart from Covid 100,000 US$ I DO NOT REQUIRE to have health Insurance and that the RTE London blog para 7 relates to NEW applicants only.

There was an exchange of opinions in April on this matter beween Unon Joe and OP JMN.  UJ was of the opinion that health insurance was a requirement whereas JMN said he had confirmation from a named Thai official at the RTE London that it was not a requirement for returnees.

Perhaps the answer is dependant on the interpretation of the requirement by the respective RTE embassy.

I have always personally funded my own health even when living in UK, never used the NHS, and at 83 do not want to change.

Whilst respecting the contributions of both UJ and JMN, I would be grateful to hear the actual on the ground experience, both with RTE London and Immigration at Suvarnabhumi Airport from any one who like me is the holder of a Non Immigrant O extension, when returning to Thailand.   Was a health insurance 40/400K a requirement.  Third party reports not required.
