I had my first shot of AZ in Khonkaen yesterday along with lots of other foreigners, I registered through expatvac. Also lots of Thai people there who were being given Sinopharm according to the nurse that injected me. Some of the foreigners waiting near me were moaning that they had received a 2nd email from expatvac saying Pfizer would be available from the 12th of September but they hadn't been able to change from AZ. Seems that some people will moan no matter what (and, just to be clear, I'm not directing that last comment at you). Personally, I'm just happy to have received a vaccination that offers some protection.
Well done you, nothing wrong with AZ vaccine. Over the long term, the latest data available, I understand, indicates that whilst initially Pfizer gives the greater protection, however, after about 5-6 months AZ is as good and doesn't lose the immunity it offers as quickly as Pfizer. Just have to be extra vigilant during that time.
I had many attempts to register with Intervac but was never successful.

To be honest, I'd take Sinovac now and then AZ once IN the UK. The risk of being unvaccinated is just too great, specially now with the Delta variant. The virus will find you...
With the greattest of respect you have ignored my comment that Sinovacis not recognised the UK nor is it likely to be in the medium term.

Where there's life there's hope!
Having read yeterday that the vaccine rollout was in first gear, I decided to do the rounds in KK to see if my luck had changed. And yes it has - no longer am I told 'falang must wait' instead I was overjoyed to know that it will be 'soon'. I asked what 'soon' meant and was told 'soon'.
To be honest I was offered Sinovac, but as it is my plan to go to the UK within the next 6 months, I declined as my family tell me I wil not be allowed into many places (Restaurants, pubs, cinemas etc) if I do not have a UK recognised vaccination.
AZThailand will be acceptable I am told and the liklihood of this being confirmed shortly is re-assuring. MrNA vaccines are also medically a no-no for me.

You are over 75, so why like me, did you not go to the walk in centre " Bang Sue Railway Station BKK. It is open every day 09:00 to 16:00 so not too late and only AZ being given. I got my 1st Astra Zeneca there and my 2nd booked for October. Regards and keep safe.
Fit as I am, I might find a round trip (Walk) of about 1000 kms a little tiring????. Thanks forthe thought anyway,

I for am not aware that “the UK does not accept Sinovac or Sinopharm vaccines” nor can I find any official reference to what that means.
I would be grateful if you would point me in the right direction.

I didn't know that but I do know that you don't need to have had a vaccine to enter the UK.
Agreed.

Should I sometime in the future be offered Sinovac, I will politely decline and walk away. I travel to the UK regularly and as I'm sure we are all aware, the UK does not accept Sinovac or Sinopharm vaccines.
Since it seems most likely that the UK will introduce a Vaccine Passport that will be neccesary to allow citizens to enter certain premises, i.e clubs, theatres, sporting events etc. I would not qualify forsuch a document if oneof my Thai vaccines is either of the aforementioned vaccines.
I have an intention to travel to the UK shortly so I will acquire my vaccination at that time should the announcement come to pass.

It just means you where given Astrazenic vaccine against Covid 19. If a complication or side effect occurs in in connection with the vaccination it would be U129.
It's a standardised code under International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD).
Many thanks for the info.

On the paper I received from the hospital that adminstered my AZ jab it shows a description of the vaccine as 'Covid-19 Vaccine (Astrazeneca)U119.
Anyone know what the 'U119' means, please.
Thank you

Do I think Thai immigration will mandate vaccines for expats?
I don't know.
But I think that when the vaccines become as easily accessed as in the U.S., perhaps they should!
Depends on the type of mask used. The FFP 3 type was found to provide 100 per cent protection to healthcare workers in the UK working with Covid-19 patients in the critical ward, according to a recent study by UK's Cambridge University Hospitals National Health Service Foundation Trust.
Additionally Doctors in the UAE have called for mass production of a three-layer face mask that gives more protection against the highly infectious Delta variant of Covid-19. It is known as the FFP3 (filtering facepiece) and provides four times the protection of the commonly used two-layer N95 mask, medics say. The FFP3 sits more tightly against the face, with three layers of protection to filter out 99 per cent of airborne particles.

Anyone contemplating travelling to the UK and who have received either the Sinovac or Sinopharm vaccines would do well to take a look at the vaccine checker published 15 Jul. You might be a little concerned or not!

'For foreigners aged 60 and over living outside Bangkok and the other provinces they can inquire about vaccinations at health offices and hospitals in the areas in which they reside'
Why is this 'good news for those living outside the centre of the Universe(Bangkok)'?
Of course we can enquire about vaccinations, but the answeris always the same 'foreigners must wait, Thais first'
Is no one listening in Control HQ?

you seem to be having much difficulty in obtaining a vaccine. May I ask where you live and are you over 60? If you are within a reasonable travelling distance of Khon Kaen, why not register with the Bangkok hospital in that fair city if you are over 60,however if you have one of the stated underlying conditions I don't think age is relevant, but I could be wrong. Appreciate that you may also too late.
Not much comfort currently, but I believe that there will be an improvement in the availability of Western vaccines Sept/Oct this year,so don't dispair. That is my 'unofficial' understanding.
