Hi,your post could have been my post.I am also in the Uk waiting for my 2nd jab then want to return to LOS via the Phuket Sandbox  thingy.

    I am also on a retirement visa that expires 8/4/22,with a re-entry permit.I am 72.

Most of the COE form seems straight forward but again like you i am confused about the insurance. The 100,000$ covid insurance is not too bad but at our age the 400,000 baht +40,000 baht one is pretty expensive.

I know Ubon Joe has already replied to your post but if you are still reading this Joe could you please clarify exactly which insurance to buy because i would hate to buy an unnecessary policy, thanks in advance,KP.

I thought the Phuket Sandbox scheme was only for tourists and not for people previously living in Thailand who want to return to their house/condo.  Grateful for clarification on this point.

You are exaggerating the situation in Indonesia. What I read a dozen (that’s 12) fully vaccinated healthcare workers are in hospital. That’s from a total of over a million vaccinated health care workers. As this is a very high risk group it’s expected to see some breakthrough cases.

More than 350 doctors and medical professionals have contracted Covid-19 in Indonesia despite the majority of healthcare workers having been immunized with Sinovac, officials said Thursday, just over a month after officials praised the shot for wiping out the disease among health workers.

Dozens of these were hospitalized, officials added, leading experts to question the effectiveness of the Chinese shot, particularly against the infectious Delta variant fueling the country’s outbreak.

The above is an article published in Forbes magazine.  So no exaggeration and whereas you  emphasise it was only a dozen (12), the article quotes an Indonesian Officials as saying 'Dozens"

I have friends in Isaan in their 70's who have successfully completed the two doses of Sinovac.

Your irrational fear of Sinovac has left you unprotected.

    'Irrational - unreasonable

not logical or reasonable.- illogical -groundless - baseless - unfounded'   I fail to comprehend how my decision to avoid Sinovac qualifies for the word 'Irrational"

I’m not aware of any age restriction or recommendation for the Sinovac vaccine - its better than not taking it.

Are you allergic to something in the AZ vaccine?  IF so, Sinovac is your only option at the moment/

Then you will not be aware that way back in March this year the Thai PM cancelled his Sinovac jab and opting at a later date to have the AZ vaccine and the Health minister saying that the reasoning was that Sinvac was not suitable for people over 59.   I accept that this decision has recently been reversed, but I would suggest it is a reversal caused by neccesity rather than sound medical advice.

Additionally serious questions are now being raised in Indonesia and Chile regarding the eficiay of Sinovac.    https://www.forbes.com/sites/roberthart/2021/06/17/chinas-sinovac-vaccine-under-scrutiny-as-covid-soars-in-highly-vaccinated-countries/?sh=56f575131444

The Allergy I have refers to the Phizer and Moderna vaccines.

    Where in Issan?

I know of many expats living in Issan that have already received a vaccine.

Khon Kaen.  I have been to Srinagarind Hospital - no  vaccine but contact again in August.

To Khon Kaen Government hospital - no vaccine.  Foreigners must wait.

Kranuan Goverment Hospital - no vaccine and Thais before Foreigners.

Mor Prom - I will get sms - this was at launch of Mor Prom and I'm still waiting.

The Intervac site and we all now what a disaster that has been.

I have a Yellow House Book and Pink ID Card which have had no effect.

I have also been to both Bangkok and RAM hospital in Khon Kaen, prepared to pay, but both say that they  are not getting any AstraZeneca, and on medical advice because of Anaphylaxis reaction, I currently cannot receive other acredited vaccines.   And no I would not take a Chinese vaccine because it is not recommended for over 59 years of age.   If it's not good enough for the Thai PM, then it's not good enough for me!

  6. Whilst the 'other' variants have been, in the main, dealt with, the Main area of concern now is the Delta variant.    Putting too much emphasis on being 'vaccinated and protected' whilst true where the initial variants are concerned, will lead to more people being infected by the Delta variant if we let our guard down because it is not known if the current vaccines can deal with it, and current indication from PHE is that efficiay of these vaccines is quite low, in the absence of relevant data.

Ipsofacto Phuket and Pattaya are placing too much hope on being 'vaccinated' and expecting 'hordes' to arrive from the UK and Europe where the Delta variant is racing away and infecting thousands daily, and in the unlikely event that hordes' do arrive, they could spread the infection amongst the Thais they come into contact with simply because the Delta variant is far more transmissible.   The fact that front line people in those tourist areas have been vaccinated will be of no help if the current vaccines are not effective.  Plus what about the people who have been unable to be vaccinated because of this Governments incompetence!

The Thai Government's vaccine roll out has been, as we all know, a total and utter failure.    The number of people in Thailand who already have the Delta variant is unknown because testing is only done on a small percentage of people.   Surely the Thai people would not accept a further crisis for the Government, caused by allowing the Delta variant to be imported unknowingly, by tourists from the UK or Europe, which would exacerbate the current infection and death rate in Thailand, as it surely would do.

Until a new vaccine is available, it is a 'lose lose' situation and Thailand should remain cautious and watchful.

  7. Having given up on trying to register on line, I decided to visit two hospitalsto see if I could register with either.     One  hospital is local to where I live, the other is a large hospital in the main city of the Province.   I was told I could register by both and I did register with the large one.

However I was told that vaccination for me, by both hospital, would not be before the end of the year, as they had instructions that Foreigners must wait and Thai people must be vaccinated first.

I will not shoot the messenger,.   However seems very xenophobic to me.

    HI,

    Given this recent press release:

"On June 11, Thailand’s public health minister, Anutin Charnvirakul, told the press that he had met with the French Ambassador to Thailand and that the embassy was discussing the process of importing 10,000 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine for French nationals aged 45+ in Thailand.

Anutin said that the department of Disease Control agrees to the basic principle and that the vaccines could arrive by at the end of June.

He added that ANY country which is able to take care of its citizens can import vaccines which are registered with Thailand’s FDA to inoculate their nationals.

Anutin said an inoculation provision by an embassy can be undertaken at any medical facility and does not need to be on embassy grounds.
    "

And also, Boris's willingness to supply for foreigners, in the UK and abroad.

Could you ask the British government to supply some for British citizens here?

    Thanks

Don't hold your breath.  Remember we all left the UK and as far as the UK Government and British Embassy are concerned, we have ceased to exist or be of any concern.  But that dosn't stop them charging us Income Tax!

I am weeks away from my 83rd birthday.  I live North of the city of Khon Kaen.   Just attempted to make an appt on the intervac site.   Got all the way to 'select hospital'  Only three choices and all in Bangkok.

Perhaps knowledge of other parts of Thailand were not taught to the programmers when they went to schools or maybe they didn't go!

  10. This happened to me last week.  All items were from Lazada.  It involved two agencies, namely LEX and Kerry.

The first was an Iphone and they wanted 11,000thb.  The second delivery was by Kerry and was three packages containing under arm brief cases.

    All deliveries were refused.

  11. Roll out to begin on 7 June 2021 for 18 to 59 year olds.  Sounds to me that they will be getting Sinovac albeit this report is about the delivery of AstraZeneca.     Couldn't be that the Minister is being disengenious, could it? Nah he's a politcian and poilticians don't tell porkies, particulaly Thai politicians, do they?

That's okay for Phuket, they get the un-wanted Sinovac...

A friend of mine in Khon Kaen sent a message in Line to me yesterday showing a letter that had been posted locally asking for all foreigners to register for vaccinations from June 1st as they will be included in the vaccination programme within the province... I wonder what they will get?

As for my province nothing said yet... so I'll wait for all the Sino-whatever to be used up and hopefully get AZ in a month or so, I'm happy to wait for July.

Where's is my letter Mr Postman?

  13. Sign up for Covid-19 vaccination?   Not if you live in Khon Kaen.   That's my experience as at 1 June 2021.

Went with a Thai speaker to local hospitals yesterday and either they didn't have any vaccine, which I can understand, and were not registering or as one in particular told me ' You cannot register because you are a foreigner and must wait until all Thai people have registered'.

This is in complete contradiction of the Thai Governement instructions, albeit it is not scheduled to commence until 7June.

The reason I went yesterday was because Thai friends have already registered at their particular hospital here in Khon Kaen.

The Private hospitals merely say 'No vaccine- maybe October or November'.
