  1. Can someone suggest a shop to replace a watch battery in Pattaya. The places I have tried so far want to take the watch and send it away. Its a two minute job so I just want to pay and get it done.
  2. Well 60 days with an extension should be fine. If yesterday's checkin had failed then I would have just given up and toured Australia. Its only a stubborn streak that forced me to keep trying to travel to Thailand given the cost/ paperwork / effort needed. If I had realised in advance how difficult it was I would not have tried. If there was a way to extend the trip given my details ( 55 / retired ) then I would. But I was just keen to travel after a couple of years of lock down.
  3. Not sure I understand your question ? If I want a 30 day extension then perhaps .. and then a two month stay should be enough
  4. Well I booked my flights with kiwi.com - a mistake that I will not repeat. So when I was bounced off of the first flight I lost the inward booking but still had the return flight. This is what I showed as a flight out of Thailand. I booked it with a change option and "insurance". It turns out due to kiwi.com's small print it was not changeable and the insurance is some sort of non functional service - but thats another story.
  5. Visa / visa exempt makes a difference ? ( just interested )
  6. Yes I mean a flight out of Thailand .. its the first thing that the Scoot staff checked. Luckily I had one. But my point is that this was an airline check-in requirement - not something checked when I got to Thailand.
  7. I just flew from Auckland to Bangkok on Scoot. The Scoot check-in staff seem to be over efficious compared to Thai immigration for boarding requirements. For instance they require return flights and even though I had a Thailand pass they were checking details like hotel booking pcr test. I managed to get here having first been rejected from my connection in Melbourne and forced to wait there for 14 days and book another flight. It seems that Scoot VTL ( vaccinated travel lane ) agreements with people passing through Singapore means that in order to travel you must have spent the last 14 days in an agreed list of countries. i.e Australia / UK / .... Anyway I eventually got here after much expense and hassle. But the check-in process was harder than any of the paper work checks along the way. Just waiting on pct test results now .. anyone know how long that takes ??
  8. My first application was granted immediately, however having been unable to travel subsequent applications submitted in exactly the same way are taking days. Under review status.
  9. Thailand may ease entry requirements but the feeder countries that passengers transit through, for instance, Singapore have very strict requirements. So its not just about Thailand's requirements but the limitations imposed by transit countries and the border restrictions of source countries. Its making travel costly, complicated and difficult to manage.
  10. Yes I was looking at this today .. Im feeling rational today .. but I was ready to jump over the Scoot counter yesterday. Scoot staff need to have some customer relations training for when they reject travelers. They dont seem to give a sh*t.
  11. I think it might relate to Scoot's own rules and their VTL or vaccinated travel lane requirements. I assume that these are agreed with the Singapore government. Scoot did not expand upon their rejection details so I am assuming. They did talk about tier 1 and tier 2 countries. But that was from their own manuals. So I am left confused. https://www.flyscoot.com/en/announcements/vaccinated-travel-lanes-flights I think that this is what they are referring to is the list of tier 1 countries listed at the top of this page.
  12. Yes Im trying to decide options .. perhaps I will just cancel the trip and travel Australia. But I wanted to explore all options. I dont want to miss some obscure rule and be rejected at checkin again.
  13. Yes exactly, but my question relates to flight requirements for Thai Pass / immigration. I assume a return flight is needed but just checking.
  14. Yes I made the mistake of booking through kiwi.com, I will never do it again. I booked their insurance and option to change flight details. They nickle and dimed me on payments to book seats etc. So it was quite expensive. When I encountered a problem their insurance it turned out was just a service that did not offer refunds. Also if I wanted to change the return flight details I would just need to pay full flights costs. Err no thanks.
  15. Yes I entered Australia to wait 8 hours to board the next flight. It was not an issue with Thailand's requirements. It was an issue with Singapore's requirements for transit. I needed to be in Australia for 14 days before being able to transit through Singapore. New Zealand is a tier 2 country not tier 1 from Singapore's point of view. There was no issue with vaccination, I received my pcr test in time and verified this with an Australian temporary visa to pass through Australia as a Kiwi. Its getting complicated and expensive to fly now. I just wanted to check whether I needed to book return flights for Thailand Pass ? Or I could just book a one way.
  16. I had applied to Thailand Pass successfully and was due to fly from Auckland to Bangkok on 24th Nov, Auckland -> Melbourne -> Singapore -> Bangkok arriving on 25th. I had done all of my research and thought I understood all of the rules. The first leg from Auckland to Melbourne went OK and I entered Australia. However when I tried to board the Scoot flight to Singapore I was told that I needed to have been in Australia for 14 days prior to boarding. So I missed my flight and lost my hotels bookings etc. I am trying to decide whether it is feasible to try and re-book and wondered whether Thailand Pass requires a return flight ? In the event of another problem I dont want to lose return flights as well. Im thinking of cancelling the whole trip but just exploring options.
  17. ooh thats clever arick, got any more thoughts ????
  18. Arcadia properties sent me an email which seems quite good, and the pool seems big in the pictures. It seems that booking.com must take quite a cut because it is much cheaper to go direct.
  19. I like to swim for exercise and I wondered which Pattaya / Jom Tien / other (?) condo's had good pools for swimming lengths. I mean 25m plus. It doesnt have to be a lane pool but just sufficiently long. Just looking for local knowledge. Thanks
  20. I have the same issue, travelling next Wednesday. Will do my pcr test on Monday morning and pray it arrives in time. Given that my travel time from NZ is 32 hours also hope that there are no flight delays.
  21. Why do many of these destinations ( Thailand, Bali ) keep saying quality tourists only ? In reality they will all be competing for a small flow of tourists for years to come.
  22. Why is the government regulating taxi costs ? It should be the job of the market to do that. Supply and demand, when there are no customers prices should fall. And also they are legislating for minimum values ( minimum fee + cost per minute ) so they are not trying to protect the consumer or tourist.
  23. I made an asq+ booking in Bangkok through Agoda and received my Thailand pass but the hotel I booked with are ignoring all of my enquiries about airport pick up and pcr covid test which doesnt seem good. So if I have to rebook I wonder whether anyone has any suggestions for reliable / good asq+ hotels in Bangkok ?
