  1. Both Nissan and Isuzu are inferior cars compared with a few in their class. Currently best made Japanese car is Mazda.
  2. He’s very quick at highlighting where the cases originate doesn’t he? I’d multiply it by a hundred for cases that originated from within or through land borders.
  3. In that case, Well Omicron….I know what you’re thinking…. Do I have two AZ shots or three….well in all this mayhem to be honest I’ve lost count……do ya feel lucky punk?….well do ya? so go ahead make my day.
  4. To avoid parcels being struck at customs it is best not send superglue in post unless it is properly packaged
  5. Why wai? Usually, Thais don’t expect a farang to wai. The ridiculous ones are the tourists/newbies who although tryito the right thing in their mind make an ass of themselves in the eyes of Thais.
  6. Fairly consistent. It took them a couple of months to declare the original Covid outbreak too. Whether it is deliberate or due to inefficiency, eventually they realize that they’re not special.
  7. With so many aspiring racing drivers in LOS it’s surprising we don’t see too many in the real arena. Here’s is one. The industrial complex next to our village has a Kerry depot. Every morning you can hear scooters with loud exhausts entering the gate. Lewischai passes the few sheds to get to his, a narrow passage way resembling a pit lane that amplifies and echos the sound tickles his imagination. He revs high and low several times. Hopping into the orange truck, with modified exhaust also, he starts it up then comes the half a dozen revving in neutral. Drives back through the pit lane revving high and low with the mandatory wheel spin to warm up the tires perhaps? There is no pit speed limiter but he’s never been penalized before so it’s all good. Out he goes through the gate with a wheel spin to start the race. What about the residential neighborhood or other businesses? But It’s my dream he says. A land of dreamers with unmatched determination seems all too common in many circles in LOS.
  8. Looks like a swimming pool set up with a jacuzzi. If so, the blue pipes should be in the jacuzzi.
  9. All doom and gloom responses. Look at the bright side. Reduce or eliminate the sleaze factor and the country will be better off and good quality tourists will come. Just about everyone employed in the sleaze industry does not contribute to the welfare of the nation by not paying tax. Clean the slate and let them find honest work as some have been forced to do so and whether they like it or not too bad.
  10. This is a good opportunity to implement changes. I agree with changing the image of Thailand as sex capital of the world. With it we’ve seen the scum that have targeted Thailand as a destination from child sex addicts, drug dealers and other criminals. Red light districts exist in just about every major city in the world and Thailand will be no exception. Now that the sex industry is just about destroyed makes it a great opportunity as it would’ve been difficult to do that in the middle of peak activity.
  11. That hasn’t been my experience and research dealing with them. I can only go by facts.
  12. When I was in the market for a second hand cars I tried negotiating with lots of dealers. Non were interested. So I bought a new car. The only negotiation I could do was the accessories. Price and finance are fixed by the head office.
  13. A 40 year old tranny sex worker would have struggled to make ends meet (could do so literally perhaps) in good old days anyway. ????????????
  14. Not quite right when it comes to used car in Thailand. In fact dealers prefer finance over outright cash purchases. That is why you usually cannot bargain with the salesperson.
  15. Well I’m not seeing any corrections here just your beliefs which is fair enough and you’re entitled to them. Most Thais have ethnic roots to China and India and that’s a fact. You can figure the rest.
  16. Quite a few grumpy old men commenting about how bad Thailand is and how things will never change and all the negative stuff. If you’re not happy and believe Thailand is beneath you then pack up and go back to your better country. Nothing wrong with wanting better quality tourists and whether they get it sooner or later remains to be seen. This is their strategy. Remember Thailand has significant ties to nearby cultures such as Chinese, Indians etc and little to no such ties with farang lands and as such you’re not their priority. But coming from a “superior” culture makes it hard for you to accept that. Right?
  17. I disagree. Infrastructure is not just about the asphalt on the road. To me it’s poor designs such as U turns on main roads (little allowance to shield motorists during the turn); getting on U turn bridges that force the driver to merge quickly; lack of roundabouts and traffic lights where required and many more. These design faults combined with what has been described already including driver attitude (me first, poor risk management skills) create ideal recipes for disaster. How many times have you seen band-aid solutions after an infrastructure has been built such as placing plastic witches hats on roads to direct or force motorists to follow a path only to see them broken off or bikes riding between them to cross over……..and bang!!!
  18. I go there every year. Numbers considerably low. On a side note they asked me for vaccine certificate. Did not have on me. Rang the wife at home and eventually they let me in.
  19. One wearing a mask? How considerate. Was Joe Ferrari (pun) among the non-captured?
  20. Funny you say that. It also applies to traffic controllers around work. Number of times they have waved me through with a whistle and furious hand gestures only to stop because the guys who were supposed to stop to let me through ignored him.
  21. The wife is visiting family in a village in issan. Started a video call 7am this morning but could hardly hear her due to loud voice in the background. Is the TV on loud I asked? No, she replies with a giggle. It is the daily village message from the village boss who’s got a loudspeaker atop his roof. Today is about recycling she says. He’s about 500m away. That’s an effective way of getting your message across I suppose using sound equipment he probably got from an ACDC band garage sale early in the morning when everyone is at home sleeping or just woken up. Authoritarian system at work or just an innocent public service announcement? You be the judge!
  22. Most gold shops will not accept them. The ones that do will have to remove the impurities then add their metals back in to make them into Thai gold. As such it depends on the quantity and whether it’s worth the work and cost of chemicals. So you’ll get a better price in Europe as they can just melt them into something else without altering the composition.
