  1. Furthermore I was referring to public leaders. As such the public is entitled to scrutinize them in ways that we can’t individuals. A 70 year old public figure looks ridiculous in jet black hair and portrays a deceptive image to people outside and inside the country. Ironically in Thailand it is those old guys in jet black hair that the public dislikes the most. It says something about their character.
  2. As charming as drivers/riders pissing by the roadside on main roads.
  3. It’s a cultural thing. Jumping the gun and saying things without consideration to foresight. I see it at work everyday. And then reality catches up forcing them into face saving explanations on actions that were taken on a knee jerk reaction. We can’t change that!!!
  4. Not surprised. Have you seen a Thai man in a porn. The performance and size well below par. They don’t want their woman to have higher expectation. “If you can’t beat them……..hide them”
  5. Pornography is illegal. A poll in this case is an oxymoron. It’s in the same line as doing a poll on drugs and other crimes. The fact that it was done suggests there is significant interest.
  6. Not sure how sexist comes into it. I was focusing pretty much on Thai leaders who happen to be pretty much men mostly old (ish) who dye their hair. Very common here and very uncommon in western countries. Of course it’s a personal choice.
  7. Older men dye their hair to portray an image to onlookers of a younger person. One can interpret it as being vane, disingenuous, deceptive or in simple terms fake. Now have a look at men in position of power in Thailand. Is it fair to say that it is an exception to find one without the jet black hair color even for over sixties and seventies? Imagine a senior government figure in a developed country doing the same. Media will have a field day. How does this fare with the “fake news” policy?
  8. Sounds like a drama queen. Many easier and more effective ways to take your life. Doing it in places that can be seen by others such as bridges and buildings is often a cry for attention.
  9. COVID numbers have never been accurate in Thailand. Any conclusion based on quoted numbers cannot be accurate. Let’s move on.
  10. Another case of blaming everyone else but himself. Poor planning and lack of due diligence is own responsibility. Live and learn.
  11. Are you sure you’re disagreeing? Why stop there? How about great great grandparents for not being an example to great grandparents.
  12. My sister in law living with her parents and no husband has three kids and does nothing for them. Stays in her room all day watching tv and going out at nights. So much so that the youngest can go to bed only with grandma. To me in these cases it is the fault of grandparents who allow this to happen.
  13. Thank you so much for replies so far. Yes I’d like it to be a Thai website if that’s possible.
  14. I’d like to create a business website myself. Did one years ago in oz. What software do you recommend for a non-IT person and also advice on Thailand hosting. It will be in English and Thai selling packaged food domestically and exporting.
  15. I’d appreciate advice on two possible scenarios please: 1) I work for a Thai company. Thinking of starting a business partnering with two Thais. Married to a Thai but my visa is company sponsored with work permit. I’d like to know what I need to do in order to work and live in Thailand if I finish with my current employment. 2) can I remain as employee (two years left on visa and work permit) in my current job and start the new company?
  16. Why can’t wives understand. It’s only sex. We still love you and take care of you. Just let us have some fun for Pete’s sake.
  17. Having 10 first prize tickets makes it possible for up to 10 people to win. That was my point in relation to dilution. Perhaps a poor choice of words on my part. Comparing it to western lotteries I think it’s a poor value for money.
  18. So the two-set lottery has gone up From 200 to 220. Is it the case in your neck of the woods? What is it with the variable pricing on some numbers? My Thai friends say luckier numbers attract higher prices. Who decides that? Sometimes monks or rumors? Consistent with not doing things properly elsewhere, there should be one winner only for the first prize and not a handful which ends up diluting the first prize. Otherwise do a proper lotto system where you choose the however individual numbers there are and in case of no first prize winners it jackpots making it more attractive to buy. Thai lottery system is a hybrid with outdated paper system albeit great for dodgy operators. Going back on the computerized system deal that ended up with Thai government being sued for reneging on the deal is testimony to the influence of the underworld operators on government business. Having said that I still enjoy the punt every now and then. Do you?
  19. As some pointed out it varies which is not all that helpful to you. In our case I was in the country less than a year on work permit and wife not working. We got a loan for 4.5mil with 600k deposit. The seller is a wealthy property developer with connections at a bank and Land department. All we did was sign the loan docs in her name. Easiest way is to find a bent loan officer!!!
  20. Seen a few posts recently on bike and mods. I get the emotional and functional justifications. After all I also am one of those. The ones worry me are the removal of mirrors and using slick tires. Being a wannabe racer is one thing but curious how many fellow farangs have actually gone that far.
  21. Concierge: name? JB: bond (silent stare) JB: james bond aaaah how we missed it. Will watch it at iconsiam on imax this weekend.
  22. A Thai friend who comes from the south says it is in the interest of police and military to have instability in the region as they get paid “danger allowance”. Some of the conflicts are apparently instigated or fueled by such personnel to ensure continuation of this extra pay.
  23. This is not so much about visa it is rather about entering requirements into USA based on Covid. I have two doses of AZ and the wife has one Sinopham and one AZ. Both administered in Thailand. The son is 4 years old. Question is can we travel to San Francisco to visit family. I’m Australian and the wife is Thai. We’re thinking November this year.
