Why not just remove the nipple ring, or buy a new complete set.

A simple letter from a lawyer, setting out the terms of the loan, and requesting immediate repayment, or ongoing legal action usually does the trick. Your debtor must be made aware that if it goes to court and you win, they must pay all YOUR legal costs, expenses, court costs as well as their legal costs.
But beware. If the loan contract specifies an interest rate higher than the maximum permitted by Thai law, then you will almost certainly lose. I believe the annual maximum interest rate is around 15-18%. If that is the case, then I would suggest a lawyers letter as above, but not following through if the debtor ignores it.

Hi Bums
The helicopters having an MOT so I need to find this place by road tomorrow.

It's a wee bit further to Buriram than Prasat. Suggest you allow 20 minutes!
Boy, you guys are really bad on directions. It's 20 minutes alone from surin to Prasat. I live in Korat, so too far for me, unless I'm passing through one day. I was in Prasat on monday, and looked for Gary's place. We were going to have lunch, but followed the directions on this forum, and still couldn't find it.
Barry
Hi Barry.
You've hooked on to something of an in-joke here. Dave reckons he can do Surin to Prasat in 10 mins hence the helicoptor reference. Buriram is around twice the distance from Surin to Prasat, which explains the 20 minute suggestion.
Gary's is easy to find. Coming from Korat, turn right off the 24 at the Prasat traffic lights going towards Kap Choeng. After about 100 yards/metres, turn right into the area containing shop houses. Go the the 2nd row, turn right (as if going back to the 24) and Gary's is just down on the right.

Was coming to have a look-see at the Uni girls, rather than drink coffee. Under the circumstances, will give it a miss today and look in next month.

You can not be registered in the housebook. It is only for thai people.
If you are a Thai resident you can have your name in the blue book.

When my son was leaving Thailand a few years ago, he threw his shoes into his bag and departed.
Upon arrival home in the UK, he found a big toad in his shoe - very much alive.

Hold your horses lads. We're all getting hot and bothered for nothing.
There won't be any girls, tight black skirts or otherwise. It's University holiday time!
We need to defer for about 1 month.
-
To ensure a good turnout next time, why not try out the Coffee Connection, the meeting timed to coincide with the cessation of University studies. Who needs beer when there may be dozens of university students in their white blouses and tight black skirts?
It's not far from Surin so name the day Dave. Did I hear next Monday?

Maybe the police will also join the scheme, reducing normal no receipt fines by 50% for those who do not break any laws!

Hi
I live 5 minutes outside Surin and 10 minutes from Presat.
Dave
Didn't realise you had a helicoptor Dave!

Dev? never heard of him!
Now had you said Ena Sharples.............

Some people are easily pleased whilst others are not. 22 years ago when I first came to live in Thailand, I rejected my then wife's suggestion of living in her village 30kms from Korat and chose Pattaya, (or rather 7kms down the coast) For the first 8-10 years it proved to be the right decision, but as Pattaya grew and grew, and my peace and quiet on Pattaya's doorstep became invaded I could not wait to get away.
I now live in a small village some 3kms from Prakhonchai, 44 kms from Buriram and 65kms from Surin. It's quiet and peaceful, I have a nice house and garden, yet I can go and drink and eat in several places in Prakhonchai when I want, and good food shopping is available around 30 minutes journey away. This suits me fine, and it seems to suit many of my good friends in the area also. I have grown out of discos and nightclubs (apart from the occasional once in a blue-moon night out with the lads!), so do not need to be near a big city and nightlife.
You can never have exactly what you want wherever you live. For me more restaurants would be nice as would a better choice of health-care facilities should I ever need them. But that would mean living in or near a large city, with all the noise, crime, traffic etc that goes with city life.
I have found my Oasis.

Explain. I see thousands of (relatively) unarmed protesters on one side, and hundreds of heavily armed soldiers on the other. The only diffrence might be reluctance from soldiers to actually carry out order, but their leaders dont seem to share that reluctance. You have all the potential for hundreds killed right there. There is an incredible bloodlust by some posters on this forum. You all blabber on about how this would be cracked down in a western country. Guess what, protesters shot in this manner would see the press go ballistic against the responsible for shootings. And thats whoever holding the gun, and orders that gun to be fired and in extent the government in power. Its disproportional use of force, no less.
Agreed it would be disproportional use of force. So what Mr xminator would be your solution. Continue to do nothing, send the troops back to barracks and watch the reds overrun the country?
-
.
It all boils down to waiting until a politician makes the only decision available, and authorizes the military to shoot people.
In any demonstration, regardless of whom the protesters are, when negotiation fails water cannon needs to be employed, followed if necessary by rubber bullets. This seems to work effectively in most democratic countries.
-
Any reasonable person would question now why the government will not simply call elections. They would rather many people are injured and possibly die, ahead of them being reasonable and stepping down and simply calling elections.
It is doubtful at the present time that if fresh elections were called, neither sides followers (PAD and red shirts) would respect the result, and there would be yet more demonstrations.
Either the current government must flex its muscles (rightly or wrongly) and put down this chaos, or the military must take over the country. And if that happened, it would likely require 2/3 years minimum before responsible elections could be called.
-
Most of these people are ordinary folks and are unarmed. They are not equipped to fight an army. What would you do in this situation? They are protecting themselves in a reckless manner, but parking the vehicle there is hardly an offensive act. The other side has APCs, tanks, machine guns, etc... that is no way to quell a civil disturbance.
So what way would you quell a civil disturbance? As some give up, they are replaced by others upon the urging of Thaksin.
-
That's easy. After the courts did their work, there weren't new elections to replace the outed MPs.
I think you will find that there were elections to replace the outed MP's (around 30 or so) and Pheu Thai did rather badly.
And I think you will find that when the Democrats formed their government they OPENLY bribed Peur Thai members to switch allegiances.
Regardless, the fact remains that despite vote buying. Pheu Thai did rather badly in the by-elections. And when any party wants to form a coalition, don't they all bribe and/or offer inducements to other parties and their members to join up. It's politics!

I for one enjoy these meet ups where ever they are held Surin/Buriram or anyother place. My be the next one could be at Time Out Never been but would like to It appears to me that the time of these meets are of great importance with some liking the midday and others liking late afternoon.
Timing is indeed of great importance, but so is location. Time Out is a great place, but rather remote. Most weekends sees upwards of a dozen farangs from around the area, and that in itself could constitute an un-arranged meet.
Note that Time Out will be closed for 1 week from 20th April. Ludo and Yai are having a well deserved holiday
-
I dont really care where we meet as its always a drive from Surin for me and I am unsure of the facilities in Buriram
Dave
Dave
Whilst you don't care where the meet is, it seems that the main Buriram group don't care about a meet at all! Unfortunately you're banging your head against a brick wall.

just because the present government were not in power during the pad crimes does not absolve hem from the responsibility of prosecuting them, they allow them to dictate when they will answer any charges, and even promote one of them to foreign minister.
sorry mate, i don't want to enter into an argument but their inactivity in dealing with pad makes anything they do now against the reds appear bias and pretty much confirms they supported the actions of the pad.
also the previous government did clamp down but in the usual thai slip shod way of doing things, too little too late.
the dems are now reaping what they helped sow, its the thai mentality of imediate gain without thinking of consequences later
I agree entirely that all law breakers should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law - red, yellow or whatever. But just because nothing appears to have happened to the PAD as yet (although I believe prosecutions are in hand) does not mean that it's OK to let anyone else break the law. 2 wrongs don't make a right.
-
The yellow shirted PAD may have taken over the airport but as I recall they did not close it down. The decision to close operations was made by the Airports Authority of Thailand. The red shirts however did close the roads in Bangkok. That in itself is a criminal act. They also allegedly held some of the leaders of other Asian countries hostage inasmuch as they could not leave their hotels in Pattaya.
So we are not dealing with like for like.
the yellows blocked the roads to the airport, the yellows also blocked roads round government house
OK at least - finally, (albeit shutting the stable door............) - the present government have the balls to take action against law breakers. Thats more than the former government did!

Since everyone seems to think there is little you can do, may I suggest you engage in some daily harassment of the debtor, preferably when it will prove most embarrassing to him.
