  1. I wonder if the brothers were high. Weed is legal in Thailand not in New Zealand.
  2. Meh, they can always get a job in their dad's company.
  3. Well, some people can act crazy while they are on holiday. Some people try to jump into their hotel's pool from their balcony.
  4. Reports say the brothers started shouting at the cop after stopping. The cop started recording them on his phone and then the brothers attacked him.
  5. I assume they like bars, restaurants and clubs. Not beer bars or gogo bars. They do like shopping malls like Terminal 21. According to Stickman's restaurant owners, the biggest spending group are the Chinese. Do you live in Phuket? There are a lot of Asians in those expensive seafood restaurants.
  6. Probably living off that Asian money. Malaysia was the top source market for foreign tourists to Thailand in 2023, with 4.4 million arrivals, followed by China with 2.7 million arrivals, Singapore with 1.9 million, and India with 1.6 million.
  7. Perhaps Phuket locals are really tired of farangs taking the piss. Well, there are plenty of non farang tourists. I think Phuket/Thailand is really trying to court them.
  8. I'm really thankful that the Phuket Governor came back from Germany to handle this mess.
  9. Now I'm really curious to see if the Day brothers spend any time in prison. Parent's millions vs national loss of face.
  10. Their parents have given away over 1 million dollars (not sure if NZD or USD) in political donations. They also sold an education business for 10 million. Makes me wonder about their net worth. The Thais might want to add a couple of extra zeros to your number.
  11. The "internal" safety in the Glock line is to prevent accidental discharge from like dropping the gun. It is disengaged when pulling the trigger. A fine weapon.
  12. Also, Thais are keenly aware of social media. I remember joking with my Thai driver in Phuket about not wanting to be on Facebook for the wrong reasons. Thailand was home to 49.10 million social media users in January 2024, equating to 68.3 percent of the total population.
  13. True, the right of a person to use force in resisting an illegal arrest is not unlimited. He may use only such force as reasonably appears to be necessary to prevent the unlawful restraint of his liberty. State v. Allen, supra. See also State v. Glenn, 198 N.C. 79, 150 S.E. 663. And where excessive force is exerted, the person seeking to avoid arrest may be convicted of assault, or even of homicide if death ensues, 4 Am.Jur., Arrest, Sec. 92, but in no event may a conviction of the offense of resisting arrest be predicated upon resistance of an unlawful arrest. State v. Allen, supra; State v. Belk, supra; Prosser on Torts, p. 165. But Americans really know what happens if you try to resist a cop, legal or illegal arrest.
  14. I did some research into Thai police official gun carry and found out that Thai cops have to buy their own guns. The Thai cops can buy whatever they prefer and can afford in Thailand. Even if the gun doesn't have a safety their holster should have a retention system. Also, cops should be exercising trigger discipline (their finger should be outside of the finger guard until ready to shoot).
  15. False misquote per Wikipedia. Also this case is from 1893, lol. Internet meme[edit] Plummer v. State, along with Bad Elk v. United States,[14] is cited in Internet blogs and discussion groups but often misquoted.[15] The misquote is that "citizens may resist unlawful arrest to the point of taking an arresting officer's life if necessary" although the Plummer quotation is a fabrication because the quoted text does not appear in the text of the Plummer opinion.[16] Several other sources note that Bad Elk is no longer good law,[17] what one legal commenter stated was a "bizarre, irrational or merely grossly wrong understanding of law...."[18] Modern sources describe Plummer and Bad Elk as applying when there is an unlawful use of force rather than when there is an unlawful arrest; under contemporary law in the majority of U.S. jurisdictions, a person may not use force to resist an unlawful arrest.[19]
  16. Ok, so the brothers' parents have money money. "Retired Hamilton multi-millionaires Laurence and Katrina Day say Governments should be forced to listen when the public speak via referendums and they've given $675,000 of their own money to Colin Craig's Conservative Party's election campaign in support of that belief. Electoral Commission filings yesterday show the couple tipped another $500,000 into the Conservative Party campaign war chest, adding to the $175,000 they have previously donated to the party. Mr Day, who received more than $10 million for his share of a private training organisation when it was sold recently, yesterday indicated he'll be giving more to Mr Craig's party and said: "Watch this space."" The cops should be aware of this by now.
  17. The "true story" is the one with the best video. Yeah, I think Thai police is a bit embarrassed right now.
  18. Those two clowns claimed self defense against a police officer. Has that successfully worked in any country after putting a police officer in a headlock and taking away his gun? It is resisting arrest in all cases, in all countries.
