  1. Do you think people using such imagery as she did ought to be in charge of educating younger generations?
  2. Facilitated how? Does the ICRC have information regarding the other 200+ hostages? That was a Hamas PR stunt.
  3. It's not a choice between optimal solutions, and the distance involved is not great. If it was safe enough, they could have been airlifted.
  4. The same ICRC that wasn't all that active/vocal about demanding checking on the hostages?
  5. Question is whether the feline squad would do any good vs. a burglar..... On topic - our dog was sort of a communal street dog, one of the neighbors being a vet everything was taken care of without charge. When we took her in to our new house, he did the spaying free too. Even nowadays need to pressure him to charge full price for treatment - not super cheap anyway for a decent clinic, but no robbery either. OP - there are several NGO's (some in Chiang Mai too) that may help for free/donation. Not up to date on that, but should be easy enough to find. 10K sounds like way over the top. Another option is to check with a government pet hospital (if we have one here, there must be one in Chiang Mai) where the prices are fixed and reasonable.
  6. One would probably be wrong. Israel got extensive experience with this in many international situations. But even if that's so, it wouldn't be an issue (other than, perhaps, political) transferring babies or patient in critical conditions to Israeli hospitals. There's a;ready a contingent of Gazans receiving medical treatment in Israel that got 'stuck' there after 7/10. Article linked much earlier in topic.
  7. I think @thaibeachlovers's posts more and more resemble what he'd like to happen rather than what is happening. To anyone slightly familiar with recent history, the meeting was as per script. A whole lot of condemnations, declarations, statements - but bottom line, very little of substance, no action and not even much unity. Abbas 'grown a pair'? How? It's pretty much a stock speech he gave, nothing new. Like it or not, the Arab/Muslim world's choice is not to unite against Israel, certainly not on behalf of the Palestinians. That the poster is eager for them Arab/Muslim countries 'to take action' is more like a fantasy, some wishful thinking. They can't act in a united manner over pretty much anything - that's not news either. An Israeli minister threats Lebanon, Hezbollah and Iranian leaders threat Israel - guess which one makes it to @thaibeachlovers's post?
  8. That should be a motivator considering the candidates.
  9. It's like the new tax thing, calculated backwards.
  10. ...And may God have mercy on your souls.
  11. Oh dear.... "theblether is typing..."
  12. Nope, more like eager to know if there's a point at which you would consider the protest illegitimate, or at least, wrong.
  13. Against Hamas doesn't mean pro Israel.
  14. Allow me not to trust your memory. There are various polls, taken by different bodies, at different times and different wordings.
  15. Yeah, but the West Bank is ruled by the PA. Whenever Israel (or rather it's government, right wing parties, illegal settlers) do something like that, it just further undermines the PA, and bolsters support for Hamas. Plus, it's wrong. Another thing it does is chip away at support offered by the USA and other Western countries. Maybe not the best time for this, eh?
  16. So unless there a verified account of all protestors chanting the 'river-to-the-sea' bit, it's on?
  17. Yeah, so if a political or public figure was to inflame the situation whilst the march/protest was on....would that detract from the protest or just the person in question? Do organizers and key speakers represent the protest? It's objectives?
  18. I think people chanting river-to-the-sea make their views clear, even if they couldn't point to the river on a map.
  19. Once upon a time, when we was young, innocent and with little knowledge of such things cheerfully went into a Feyenoord joint after an Ajax win. The sounds of the door shut and barred, then pain. Lessons learned, dues paid.
  20. If the protest, for example, brings a key speaker who goes on to incite the crowd, or if the lawlessness goes beyond what police can handily deal with. Just two easy hypothetical examples for problematic situations. But you've basically made it clear that for you the answer is never. Alright. Each to his own. I'm sure there are trouble makers on both sides. Agent provocateur working for/against which side?
  21. Wonder if he's got Shams the puppeteer behind him.
