  1. it is disgusting to charge more because of a persons race...thats exactly what it is.
Although I am not happy with the system: race is not involved. All Asians officially pay more, some may get away with paying Thai prices on occasion, but officially also Malays e.g. pay the non-Thai price.
  2. I have not been on a visarun for years, but does F1 not still charge 1,000 Baht?

But even so, a price comparison of a 1/2 day visarun by bus with a trip of a few days including 2 flights is a strange comparison.

  3. I agree. It's not expensive but only in comparison with the 1700 baht visa run offers here in Pattaya which includes lunch. There and back in a few hours.
If you compare it to the 1,000 Baht visa runs to Ranong the 1700 Baht from Pattaya are expensive. And Ranong is a full day (also including lunch).
  4. Opening a new account should be easy with the mentioned SCB and Kasikorn (I hate SCB in Chalong BTW, very unfriendly), but a name change is a big problem.

Closing the old account and opening a new one is by far the easiest solution.

  5. In general I don't agree with Maximum Security and think he is scare mongering. But he has a right to say what he thinks and feels, and if he happens to be in the business (probably because of his feelings regarding security), no problem.

  6. It seems to me a normal low season.

Every year I also see messages on forums of people claiming the low season is quieter than the year before. If that were the case every year, there would be nobody on the island by now.

  7. It would be nice to know who is broadcasting what. My UBC subscription is up for renewal next month, and would not mind a cheaper option.

I do know though that with UBC I get: British Premier League, F1, Moto GP, NFL (partly ESPN/Star, partly UBC), a couple of baseball games a week, some Italian, Spanish, French and Dutch Football, plus besides sports e.g. History Channel, CNN, BBC, Discovery and Nat Geo. No winter sports though like skieing or speed skating.

What do the cable companies have to offer, anybody knows?

  8. In theory those using the 400K pre 2006 are considered 'grandfathered' for future years, but I heard that in Phuket the 40K income/month is now THE requirement.
Last time I renewed, in March 2008, the 400K in the bank was sufficient, there was no need for additional proof of income. That was for an extension of a 'grandfathered' visa.
  9. When Desjoyaux has build my Pool i have seen its absolut true that they have a lot of Experience,in Phuket too!!!
I believe you there. I have said nothing about them being not professional or in any other way no good.

I just believe, as I wrote, that: "over 40Years Experience Worldwide" is nothing else than a sales pitch, and adds nothing to the quality.

  10. The Company has over 40Years Experience Worldwide.
And do you think any of that worlwide experience is used on Phuket?

Don't know the company, but a comment like this is typical sales talk and has nothing to do with the quality.
