Maybe you have to re-read my first post. I'm not on overstay but I will be in late Dec,when passport and visa expire simultaneously and new passport hasn't arrived yet.

I don't think you understand the nature of the problem Dr. If I overstay say by 10 days and show up at immigration with my new passport, my nationality is irrelevant. They will treat me like every other nationality What difference would it make if I'm Lithuanian, Hungarian or Mexican? Zero. Either they will throw the book at me or let it pass.

Nationality is totally irrelevant. The issue will be on Thai immigration's hands, if indeed I overstay. Good grief.

Embassy and country name are irrelevant No ..they don't keep the pport when you apply. My problem is that I will probably over-shoot the expiry date and be here in legal limbo until the new one arrives.

Yes I do have my passport with me. My embassy is not cooperative...I doubt that I could get a temporary document either.

Obscure EU country Sorry..can't disclose the name. Passport and non-O (ret) expire late Dec. I was delayed by some personal issues... Tried to book an appointment with the embassy today and the earliest slot is in 50 days😱 Normally no more than a few days. My only worry is immigration...overstay fine, no problem Btw...could I get busted/deported in the interim period?

Hi. Anybody had an issue with old passport ending and new one still not arrived 😲 Uncharted territory. I'm not in that situation yet but it looks likely.

Update....I can. use it for groceries etc Still cannot use it for Lazada or AliExpress . Visited a true shop for enquiries.. I was told it takes 3 days to ...... couldn't make out the rest of what she said.😄 Thanks for all the answers.

I need it in case of an accident...as you mentioned. Couldn't care less for a police fine. Also.....People who say they gave registered bikes with no problem.. Not in my province. Not without work permit...or residence cert.....or a Thai Mrs. I have none. Btw...I have decided to keep my current bike for a time. Thanks to everyone who contributed. Over and out. 🙏

I can take it home on the day of purchase alright. The question is what kind of insurance cover I get for the interim period until I get the permanent number plate. Any ideas?

Yeah..the bike is a repo'd one so the green book is probably not available at the moment. It didn't occur to me to ask to see it. They do have the number plate though. Any idea about the insurance cover during the interim period? @Rchardi_Smith....I have to buy at this particular shop because it's the only one that carries that model for many miles around. Re:Farang ownership... impossible out here in the provinces without a work permit or a 'cert. of residence' or wtf they call it. Thanks

Hi all Buying a second hand bike. The shop insists on registering it themselves ,at a cost, and a 1 month waiting period 😱 Btw the bike is from a different province. I believe I can do it myself in a day as I have done it before. Any ideas? Also....if I agree to let them do it, what insurance cover do I have during that period? If any... Advice appreciated.

When buying a used bike from a shop, how long does it take to register with the DLT? ...If it takes more than a day, how do you get insurance for this interim period?
