I drove to the hospital.

For me JAN 2023. I fronted at Bangkok Jomtien hospital with what I thought was dehydration. Front desk asked for my passport and insurance card and then was plonked into a wheel chair and rolled in A&E. Soon became evident I had severe pneumonia in both lungs with my blood oxygen level at 66%. Within minutes a lady arrived requesting a deposit be paid before treatment would start. I woke from an induced coma 2 weeks later in a different hospital as my insurance refused to cover expenses and as I was unconscious I could not provide further funds to cover the costs which were growing by 100k per day.

if they did that and was made known to the public/tourists the numbers will rise sharply as people will stop obtaining insurance. If a tourist is unable to pay their bill (and the governments covers it) that person should be blacklisted for 5 years.

Bangkok Jomtien Hospital same. Jan 2023, Self admitted, gave them my insurance details but when it was found my condition required ICU they wanted a chunky deposit upfront.

I do not have a pink card. what do you mean by collecting Thai social security ? I have SS and it has covered my hospital bills (millions over the years).

my licence is in the safe at home, with my passport. If pulled over by police I tell them I "no hab licence"...... can go either way, stooged for 200b cash or waved on. 200b cash is cheaper than the reason I gave them to pull me over !

Take the redundancy payout and walk away. Had a similar situation. Employed at BOI company 2006 to 2017. Never a warning and always good performance reviews. Called into HR.... got told the news we are making your position redundant effective immediately, 1 month notice but clear your desk today. Told to sign some paperwork within 2 weeks and we will give you an additional 3 months salary on top of the full redundancy payout. Cha Ching !

Yeah flick a wedge to an agent then toddle off to a bar for a frothie. Bank account will take the agent an hour or two to open. No brainer.

I changed from 33 to 39 in 2017. Was straight forward, no pink ID needed. In 2019 I changed back to 39. to be fair though in both instances the respective HR depts of each employer did the leg work.
