It's only going to get worst. The largest veterans organization in the U.S.  The American Legion is chiming in.

We haven't heard from the AMVETS or VFW yet.

I believe the days of the National Anthem and Jets flying overhead is coming to a close.

The American Legion blasts NFL for disrespect

Before you champion the American Legion .. are you aware that that org refused membership to Vietnam vets in '64?

I know, because a few of my buddies and I were denied membership at the AL post on Okinawa. Reason given was 'Nam was not a declared war.

I have been told that nowadays, they allow non-service members to join.

If a soldier does not stand and salute the flag at appropriate times he is put in jail.  Bet everyone stands at the Army Navy football game.

I served from '62 - '65 and honestly don't remember saluting the flag very often, although my memory of those years is selectively sketchy. In a military formation, you perform as ordered.

If you really are a US vet, you should know ..

1 - The oath you take requires you to obey all lawful orders.

2 - The Army/Navy game is played by academy cadets who have taken that same oath -- and would catch holy hell if they erred.

  3. Donald Trump hasn't always been a fan of the NFL. Has his experience as majority owner of the New Jersey Generals of the United States Football League left him bitter enough to strike out at the NFL?

New Jersey Generals of the USFL

Trump's mistake was encouraging the new league to make a bad decision by attempting to force a merger with the NFL.

"In September 1983, the New Jersey Generals were sold to real-estate magnate Donald Trump. sold to Trump for a price of between $5 million (Trump’s number) and $9 million (most published reports). So, clearly for like $8.5 million or something."

    Donald Trump USFL Football Team

"In 1985, the USFL voted to move from a spring to a fall schedule in 1986 to compete directly with the NFL. This was done at the urging of New Jersey Generals majority owner Donald Trump and a handful of other owners as a way
to force a merger between the leagues. As part of this strategy, the USFL filed an anti-trust lawsuit against the National Football League in 1986, and a jury ruled that the NFL had violated anti-monopoly laws.

In particular, the USFL claimed the NFL conspired to ruin the Invaders and Generals. The USFL sought damages of $567 million, which would have been tripled to $1.7 billion under antitrust law.

However, in a victory in name only, the USFL was awarded a judgment of just $1, which under anti-trust laws, was tripled to $3.[2]

This court decision effectively ended the USFL. The league never played the 1986 season, and by the time it folded, it had lost over US$163 million."

"When President Trump lashed out at players who kneel during the national anthem, he took aim at an organization that he's clashed with on multiple occasions."

I think I would always stand but I understand the reasons for the protest and I respect the reasons and the right to protest. Stevie Wonder just did a kneel. He's much more popular than corrupt sleazeball 45 will ever be.

45 is so wrong. Firing the protesting players is a horrible idea. Firing up already serious racial tensions is a horrible idea. Electing that clown in the first place was a horrible idea.

The NFL owners need to stand firm against being bullied by the Twitter troll in chief.

Many (most?) of the NFL owners are already making their feelings known.

45 does not 'own', 'invent' or have any 'input' to the national anthem or flag. They belong to the American people and disrespecting them disrespects every American, black or white, republican or dem, gay or straight and to say otherwise is ignorance

If "the national anthem or flag belong to the American people", do we not have the right to react to events related to what we own?

The majority of people will not stand for this on the field and if they vote with their wallet, attendance or viewing ship the owners and NFL most likely will stop it.

They can protest all they want off the field.

Not likely. Have you not noticed that the NFL, NFLPA and a number of NFL team do not support 45's "suggestions"?

Maybe you should wait for the next few weeks stadium attendance before carving your proclamation in stone.

This is the equivalent of refusing to stand up in the cinema during Thai national anthem. It is a cross between hatred for their homeland and bad manners verging on plain stupidity. I would have them all fired, until decorum returns to sport. Sad fact is these guys are not employed for their brains - they are just physically fit. I know a medic, physio trainer working for one of the UK's premier footy teams, he said they are all as "daft as a brush". They deserve a salary in line with your average WalMart shelf stocker.

1 - As far as I have seen, none of the NFL players have claimed they would not stand for the Thai national anthem being played in a cinema.

2 - Standing, holding hands over their heart, or even being present on the field during the US national anthem is a matter of conscience as well as freedom of expression.

3 - To "have them all fired", you would need the cooperation of every NFL club owner, the NFLPA, and some way to break all those existing contracts -- good luck!

4 - So some UK "footy" medic and physio trainer has run intelligence tests on thousands of US NFL players? Sure, sparky.

Yes exactly. Home Builders Association happy to hire illegals. Meanwhile American citizens inner city youth sell drugs and dream of being basketball stars.

Lets change this. Hire only authorized residents.  Wages will go up.  Opportunity increase. Crime goes down.  Simple.

Mexico has pleanty of need for building.  Let's them work there

    Um, okay?

So you reach out to those "inner city youth sell drugs and dream of being basketball stars" and hand out tool kits they haven't a clue how to use ... then show them how to use those tools ... then hold classes on hanging drywall,  finishing concrete, rewiring ... oh yeah!!! :partytime2:

  9. Seems to be a bit of irony here, IMO.  The recent storms have ravaged, and will apparently continue to destroy homes and infrastructure across vast areas of the Southeastern USA. Thousands of homeowners and businesses will be needing tens of thousands of skilled and semi-skilled workers who have experience in the building and construction trades.

Mexicans should be welcomed, even encouraged ... rather than symbolically blocked from and the affected area.

Those millions for wall prototypes would be better spent on recruiting and housing those workers.

Sure guys, and kids in remote villages grow up everyday meeting farangs on a regular basis - of course they do silly me

And those farangs that choose not to acknowledge fellow farangs when they meet, they stop and chat with said children.....sure they do......

And there are farangs regularly cycling on every dirt track, and back road in my area, of course there are, I've just been unlucky not to meet them, or maybe they are so afraid of having to speak to another farang they hide in the bushes until I pass

How could I be so naive to think a farmer in the middle of nowhere has not met hundreds of farang passing his way before me, indeed he probably speaks English! :w00t:

Not sure what it was in my one-liner that seemed to p____ you off. Anyhow, feel free to ignore my posts in the future -- as I ain't about to tippy-toe around.

Çurious ?? Was here in 72 1972 that is no looks of disbelief. No not all the time in Bangkok traveled up to E-sarn. And beyond people here like to belive they were among the first Farangs to step foot in Thailand! Reality check there was loads before you.

Yep, I did R & R in Bkk, ci. 1964. Lots more before me as well.

  13. After 21 years in TL, "owning" 2 remodels and building 1 new; I strongly recommend that you put the machinery purchases on hold and rent for at least another year or so year while you learn more about Thailand.

Reason is, you don't seem to comprehend many of the laws and pitfalls.

If you choose to forge ahead with your current plan, I wish you luck -- because you will need a tuk-tuk full!
