The scenario which you outline however seems to me, however desirable a candidate Evan McMullin may be,  completely undemocratic, because it would entail a candidate with a vastly smaller share of the popular vote than either Trump or Clinton ending up as President.

First, thank you for your civil response.

    But, to call the political process in the USA "democratic" seems a stretch due to the existance/mandate of an "electoral college". Further, the scenario outlined in the linked article sets out the procedures required by the Constitution's 12th Amendment;

"dictates that the top three presidential vote-getters’ names are sent to the incoming House, with each state delegation getting one vote. The top two electoral-vote-receiving vice presidential candidates are sent to the Senate."

As to rigged, the Urban Dictionary suggests:

    rigged

    1. The word rigged is used to describe situations where unfair advantages are given to one side of a conflict.
    2. Describes the side of the a conflict that holds an unfair advantage.

There is much unfair in the US political system.

    How is it coming along?

You don't appear to have made any progress.

     Hello RobbieJohn,

At this point I'm still fumbling about. I'm going to let my mind settle, then start from scratch.

I do have a working machine with W7 on it, but it has a number of shortcomings. The new box is to be my "Dream Machine".

The GB website has a video of how to configure a flash drive.  I'll watch that a few times and try to make it work. ;)

  3.  Okay, since you won't leave this alone, let me address a few salient points:

    1. Re the false trail you are sniffing concerning which 100 series MB link,  I believe that ALL Gigabytes series 100 mainboards require the same drivers.  So I'm not sure why you enmeshed yourself in that issue.

    2. Please allow "Thaidown" his own say in this if he chooses --

    3. In my question to you as to whether you had got as far as installing Windows 7 to the new machine, you replied that you had installed it to the old machine!

Okay, a bit of logic --  If I had already installed W7 on the new machine, why would I need drivers?

    As for your insults .....

    I see only twelve; http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=5521#dl

Choose Driver and then the OS, you'll have twelve from which to choose.

On that page, visited 20 seconds ago, I don't see any links, just:

Most hardware/software vendors may no longer offer drivers to support Win9X/ME/2000/XP SP1/SP2. If drivers are available from the vendors, we will update them on the GIGABYTE website.

Jui-Jitsu then wrote: Have you actually installed Windows 7 yet or have you yet to create the bootable USB drive with the USB Drivers, as instructed?

I have W7 installed on my older box. Couldn't get the USB to take the formatting.

Thanks for the info,  Maybe because already into the season but the web page definately said $99, good to July, 2017.

Sounds like that is for the regular season and does not include the playoffs and Super Bowl. After subscribing for 3 years, I recommend it.

  6. I have a nice new box with some pretty nice bells and whistles that I am having difficulty setting up W7 64 bit.  Problem apparently is that I don't have the drivers (or correct drivers). I did download some from Gigabytes' site, but my box doesn't see the thumb drive they are on.

I could use W10 but after trying it on my old machine I really don't like it. And I sure as heck don't want to pay Bt 6,000 for a system I don't like.

I also want to run a dual boot with Linux (Zorin or ?).

Mostly I email, surf and play a few oldish games -- yep, I'm old -- RR Tycoon2, Civ 2,3,4,5 - etc.

Would I be better off installing Linux the adding a dual boot and fight another skirmish?

  7. I love all this talk of "farang price".

Why don't some people just learn a bit of the language, grow some balls and stop hiding behind their wife?

On the other hand, maybe continue as you are. It's always good for a laugh.

I always get a chuckle from expats who make silly assumptions. rolleyes.gif

  8. Khon Kaen city is a lot more compact than, say, Korat or Udon.

Lots of housing estates, most of which are only a short distance to the core of the city.

Mittraphap Road (Route 2) splits Khon Kaen, and the area east of there is widely regarded as the preferred place to live.

The most popular estate amongst westerners is Piman Chol 2, located just by Beung Kaen Nakhorn lake. In view of it's popularity, the rental prices seem to be more expensive that most other estates, and a similar property elsewhere could be quite a lot cheaper.

Wherever you choose, you will not be far away from all the amenities you need, but the main question would be, what is your rental budget ?

Providing your budget is quite reasonable, you could come and have a look at the city, and rent in an area that you think is suitable to your needs.

Thanks Thaiduncankk that's interesting, i'm looking for a detached house fully furnished with 3 bedrooms for 15-20.000 THB

You can see some rentals on DDProperty.

  9. Khorat is the nickname, it's proper name is Nakhon Ratchasima

    Very good!

Now, do you know the proper name of Bangkok?

Clue: It is the longest city name in history.

Not only do I know it, I can sing it (badly). wink.png

  10. It did not do Elvis any harm.

You would not pretend Elvis did his military service like any other grunt ?!?!?! he had privileges you could not imagine !!!!

but he had all the possibility's to avoid it, and he didn't use them unlike ...Bush !!! or Clinton !!!.....for that,.. respect !!!

    Best regards.

You should get your hate straight or ID the correct "Bush."

George H.W. Bush -On September 2, 1944, Bush was assigned to take out a radio station located in the Bonin Islands. In the course of the action, Bush's plane was hit with enemy fire. Though the plane was on fire, he completed his strafing run on the targeted Japanese installation before flying towards sea to bail out offshore from Chichi Jima, a Japanese-held island near the more well-known Iwo Jima. He was rescued by a Navy submarine, the USS Finback. A genuine hero, Bush was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and three Air Medals. He was discharged in September 1945 with the rank of lieutenant (j.g.) source

  11. You can never get a taxi in Sukhmvit easily. You need to try several before the driver condescends to take you. I usually if I am going out of the city get the BTS as far as possible then get a taxi. Never have any problem then. Taxi's down Sukhumvit obviously get too much money if they can say no to a fare

Same as I personally experienced numerous times since late '90's.

Can be many valid reasons for refusing a fare. Shift change is a big one. Getting stuck in hours of traffic for a Bt xx fare.

And, very honestly, why shouldn't a person be free to decide when, where and how they work?

In answer to your question, wouldn't it be nice to tell your boss that you weren't going to work the hours that you were employed to do in the first place, that you weren't going to work in the place that you were employed to work in, and you were going to work the way you wanted to?

Don't forget your coat on the way out!

That's a pretty convenient spin on what I wrote. Do you not understand the concept of a 2 shift or 3 shift taxi operation?

re. " .. the hours that you were employed to do.."

In many cases the drivers are employed to work a shift. If the work significantly longer than their shift, they actually take compensation away from the next driver.

re. ".. you were going to work the way you wanted to .."

In some case the driver is a sole owner/operator .. i.e. own boss.

re: ".. In answer to your question .. " "Don't forget your coat on the way out!"
Since you made this personal .. I tried to find a coat but all mine have been lost, misplaced or tossed out after almost 20 years here, so despite your rude "invitation", I think I'll stay a bit longer.

  13. "Their experiment impressed the judges by reducing the temperature from 28 C (room temperature) to 5.5C in two hours and 20 minutes."

Sorry to be a bit cynical, but:

Then you open the box to remove an onion and pump for another two hours and 20 minutes?

I wonder how much heat is generated by that two hours and 20 minutes of pumping.

  14. Is Netflix limiting content by date of airing, or .. ?

I am a fan of "Suits" and watched some catch-up episodes on Netflix. The presentation is great with no buffering, good picture, etc .. but Netflix programming ended with season 4.

Seems strange as I can watch a number of season 5 episodes on Kodi/Genesis. I'm wondering if they do likewise on other content. They don't seem to do that on "Madam Secretary".
