Defiant Trump turns up at $250m New York fraud trial to blast 'scam'
ozimoron replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Mar A Lago is not a private residence. Trump paid around $10 million for it. -
Exactly what I do on the rare occasions I need it to sleep.

Two former federal prosecutors on Sunday mused about what might happen if Donald Trump decides to go to someone like Elon Musk or even Vladimir Putin to pay of his massive fraud judgment out of New York. Former federal prosecutor Joyce Vance also took up Weissmann's concern and added, "Imagine a president openly beholden to Musk, Putin or MBS." https://www.rawstory.com/trump-putin-pay-off-legal-debt/

I said that "understanding" the science is basic civics and that is why it's now taught in schools, much to the chagrin of the religious right. Scientists and doctors have done the research so you don't have to. All you need to do is accept what they concluded, that's the civics part.

Surge in antisemitism in UK worst for 40 years

To be clear, claiming that you "dislike" all the people of a certain religion does constitute racism. -

I didn't tell you who to like. Just don't come on here with blatantly racist posts and not expect people to call you out on it. -

They aren't races, or a dozen races in this case. I don't like mushrooms. They aren't a race either. Can you see where this is going? -

One man's limitations is another man's bigotry. Sorry, I l have little time for those who don't understand the fundamentals of issues they comment on. Understanding that gender isn't binary is basic civics these days.

The Investing Year Ahead

I'd go with Lulu's. YOLO. Right now, what doesn't look pricey is oil. Pullbacks from it's current price of 0.77 look like a gift. I think the ME issue won't go away anytime soon. -

Islamophobia is racist. Own it. -
No, I'm saying that a person can be born with traits of both genders along a scale, like 1 to 100 if you will. Almost nobody hits either 1 or 100. The preponderance of genetic factors which determine sex can vary widely, both hormonal and physical, not to mention mental... Some identify as asexual and some as both sexes. Human behaviour bears that out. A failure to understand that requires a reluctance to want to find out. That said, those those who comment without that understanding can be assumed to have an ulterior motive.

No, it's only Islamophobic to attack Muslims, not the religion itself as is the case with every religion. -
Yeah, I see I got confused by the litany of litigants. The best would be a partnership between E Jean Carroll, George Conway and Mary Trump. Then they wouldn't even need to change the signage. But I'll put my money on the state grabbing it for the 355 large they are owed and moving the CIA headquarters into it. The possibilities really are endless.

Even better if it became Stormy Towers. An 87 million down payment should interest any bank if she was so inclined. Failing that, Nancy could buy it with the profit from her insider trading on Tesla. Even better would be the two Georgia campaign workers if they get their money from Giuliani in time. The piece de resistance would be Taylor Towers of course. The mind runs wild with possibilities, all delicious, like a Thai smorgasbord.

How many millions of baht does one need to retire in Pattaya?
ozimoron replied to advancebooking's topic in Pattaya
I think 50K per month is on the money as well, at least for Pattaya. Much less than that would be a life of relative misery. Right now, expect to pay 15,000 a month rent for decent long term digs in Pattaya so that brings it to 65K per month. Right on the minimum non O visa requirement. Last night I watched part of a video by a well known YT'er who claimed he could live in Bangkok (with a partner) for $970 a month. I got a bit suspicious when he mentioned carrying around a portable water filter and sharing his internet by personal hotspot with his partner. I killed it right there. -

That's because she's rather unsupportive of Muslims. The enemy of my enemy is my friend to borrow a phrase. -
Trump is dominating the primaries. That doesn’t mean he’ll beat Biden

Thou spake too sooneth. The unfortunate but inevitable (always, bar never) side effect of high employment is inflation because of wage pressure. Inflation is always a side effect of wage pressure. In covid times, it was difficult to get people to work, in part because of stim but whatever, the result was wage pressure followed by inflation in its heels. Now there is high wage pressure and looming prospect of war at a time of peak wage pressure will be a squeeze. Right now, unless I'm wrong ( I usually am ) the price of oil is about to rise significantly which will also put pressure on inflation. The overheated US economy and the driving season is going to push oil prices and consequently inflation. In my opinion. All those predictions of a recession and cutting interest rates is all but gone now. -
The amount of conspiracy theories backed by George Soros must be at least nine times his total net worth. No mention of the Koch Brothers or other notable right wing billionaires who are actually contemporaneously accused of major corruption, bribery or massive political donations to dark money pools. Dare I mention the Federalist Society. Nah, crickets.
