Looking for wooden salad / BBQ tongs flip 360 degree
MrJ2U replied to ChristianPFC's topic in General Topics
Thanks. I actually need those also. They don't scrape the Teflon pans. -
Yes be good to know. Was it crowded. It must have been very tough for both cities with the bridge closed for so long. Even when it was open the expected surge in tourism, industry, and what you'd expect at a border crossing never really materialized as envisioned. They make crossing the border a bigger hassle than it has to be. Thats military rulers for you.

If you get extraordinarily large amounts of rain no matter how much you prepare they'll be flooding. It's better than a drought. Anything they do is mired in corruption and isn't built well. Recently there was a report of flood walls built with cardboard and a thin sheen of cement to resemble a decent wall. Of course it broke and flooded kilometers of land and villages. This looks like ominous!

Are you talking about one of the satellite dishes that all the Thais use for free TV, PSI? (mostly paid advertising) If so a new one would be cheap as there subsidized by PSI from advertising. Satellite TV is declining with the advent of high speed internet. Better off getting yourself an Android Box and download KODI, a IPTV, or other multiple apps. With the box and WiFi you won't have any more bills from the Cable/satellite company.

If they don't contact you You'll have to contact the police and make a report. You'll need to report it to the Samui dept closest to the agent. I imagine you aren't the only one in the position with this agent. Perhaps the "trusted" person took the passport in retaliation for being fired. Or you could report it missing or stolen and get a new passport. Very unfortunate.

Why Don't Thais Care If Their Kids Die
MrJ2U replied to Bangkok Barry's topic in Family and Children
There usually hit by bad drivers. -
Where is there office located. You may have to go directly and confront them. Bring your texts, IM's, and tracking number from the last mail with the passport sent to them. Sorry to hear of your problems. It's unfortunate that Thailand makes it so difficult to get foreign teachers when they absolutely need them with there education system amongst the worst in the world.

Lots of rain in October and the seas can be not as clear or calm because of weather. School holidays next month. Everything gets expensive. Prices are reasonable and its busier than the last two or three years. For a little extra try to book something on or close to the beach. You mentioned Agoda. Maybe get an idea but you'll be better off booking directly with the hotel. Especially if you need to make changes and there more inclined to give the better rooms to people who book directly through the hotel. Four Points by Sheraton is directly opposite the beach and has a great breakfast. Theres definitely cheaper options!! Amazing it was like 2,000 baht last year, but of course it was COVID-19 and barely any tourists. If you do, sign up for Marriott its free. You'll get points and perhaps a free upgrade. a

Marrying a 17 year old Thai girl in the village
MrJ2U replied to Adumbration's topic in Marriage and Divorce
Years ago I probably would have been looking for property in Chonburi. (Pattaya or Jomptien). However I've been staying in in Hua Hin and enjoy the vibe and have some friends there. I'd like to get into golfing and there's some descent schools. Lots of restaurants and close to Bangkok. Enjoy your week! -

The girl most likely has an IQ a bit higher than the man boy. Issan education. Nothing to write home about. -

Marrying a 17 year old Thai girl in the village

We're totally comparable. I like Issan but I personally miss some falang friends, beaches, food choices. My wife and I have come to the conclusion that for our kids and ourselves we need to move on to a city. We're looking into moving to Hua Hin. We can come back to this place to visit her family (or my wife can). As I'm writing this our electricity is out once again. Infrastructure another thing lacking in our area. It's frustrating. -

Workers still make 200 baht while the family that owns the contractor makes a mint. Issan not really huge a expanding prosperous area with skyscrapers and large complexes even for contractors. They usually depend on government buildings and highways. When they widened our road they hired locals at 250 baht a day. The Contractors rented one of our houses for the Supervisors. They ended up skipping out on rent and the electric bill. There no incentive to pay people a living wage in Issan. They'll take 200 baht without a complaint.
