  1. Today is only the eighth day, the Immigration website says to wait for 1 month (it rarely takes that long, though) before contacting them with your registered mail receipt. https://www.immigration.go.th/?page_id=1666
  2. Of course, but the comparison with other banks' rates at the same time can be made which is what he wants to do. Although the exchange rates will change, the differentials between the individual banks' rates will probably not change in any significant way for the same transactions.
  3. Wow, a 65-year old single adult on holiday has been out of touch with his family for five days when the article was published. What's the panic about?
  4. The OP did not ask about proof of consent, did he? No, and I did not say that he did.
  5. "Despite what anyone might decide is or isn't the legal age for sex..." The age of consent is not "something that anyone can decide", it is laid down in law and that age is 15. That is the answer to the question that was asked and that question did not include any qualifications to consider. It's a fact. Bear it in mind.
  6. You left out the important bit No, I did not leave out anything relevant to the specific question, the legal age of consent in Thailand is 15. The term 'age of consent' specifically refers to the minimum age at which a person is considered legally competent to provide consent for engaging in sexual acts and that's what he asked about.
  7. No, I am not condoning underage sex (I have specifically posted that I do not condone it), I am answering the OP's question - the legal age for giving consent for sex in Thailand is 15, it is not 18 and any age difference has no relevance to the legal answer to the question asked, the legal age is still 15. You may not approve of Thailand's law on the subject but your opinion does not affect the answer. If you believe that the age of consent for sex is 18 in Thailand, please produce some evidence to back your claim.
  8. The OP's question was "What is the legal age of consent" (in relation to his friend's situation), that's all, so the answer to his question is cut and dried in that context...it is 15. That is all that I was commenting on.
  9. I don't understand what do you mean. I talked about the case we divorced only. "I talked about the case we divorced only". Huh? I don't understand that "sentence" which makes no sense. "I don't understand what do you mean". Huh? I do not understand what it is that you say don't understand.
  10. The OP did not ask about consent, i.e. whether it was given or not, he asked specifically about the legal age to give consent for sexual activities, which is 15. If you have something that states just that the legal age to provide consent for sex specifically is other than 15, please provide it, without throwing in qualifiers such as parents, consent (apart from the age for) and child prostitution, aspects that I have not commented on. You also need to read the Prevention and Suppression of Prostitution Act 1996, as to what aspects of prostitution are illegal in relation to the OP's question. The OP's friend, for example, would not be committing a child prostitution offence simply by giving her money.
  11. It is not illegal, as the link that you provided, ironically and clearly, confirms. I am not giving advice, as you falsely claim, I am answering the OP's question, nothing more. From your own link... "What is the Thailand Age of Consent? The Age of Consent in Thailand is 15 years old".
  12. I am not advising him that "having sex with a 15-year old is ok" as you claim (neither do I condone it), I am saying that the age of consent for sexual activities in Thailand, not other countries, is 15, which it is.
  13. Prostitution is completely illegal in Thailand as is pimping and even paying for sex from a sex worker- see the 1996 suppression of prostitution act, I'm not posting it again. Prostitution is not "completely illegal" in Thailand but certain specified aspects of it are such as pimping or paying for sex from a sex worker in certain establishments amongst others. I'm well aware of the Act, more so than you clearly are, so there's no need to re=post it...you could read it carefully, though, and try to understand what it states.
  14. ...but not the age for sexual consent, which is 15. And it is very easy to confirm that.
  15. You need to check the specific law relating to the OP's question and then, perhaps, you could quote something official that states that the legal age of consent for sexual activities is 18, as you seem to be suggesting. I won't hold my breath.
  16. He will be jailed if 15yo as you suggested. Why when the legal age of consent for sex is 15, which it is? You need to to understand that Thai law makes a distinction between laws regulating sexual activity, as outlined in the Penal Code, and laws governing marriage and family matters, detailed in the Civil and Commercial Code. The legal age for consenting to sexual activities is set at 15. Legal adulthood, on the other hand, is acknowledged from the age of 20 onward. While the minimum age for marriage consent is established at 17.
  17. Can you explain? As far as I know girls are not allowed to work in gogo-bar when they are under 20 for that reason. And in some areas, i.e. Nana, this is now enforced. If I give a girl money to have sex with me, that on it's own is not illegal by either party. Sections 5-14 of the Prevention and Suppression of Prostitution Act 1996 explains the offences under that Act. The age restrictions for working in a go-go bar do not indicate the age of consent, it indicates the minimum age for working there. The minimum legal age to enter a bar or club is also 20. Girls working in go-go bars are (officially, anyway) not providing sexual services in the bar, that would make those go-go bars brothels. That some girls may do, illegally and on the quiet, is beside the point and no go-go bar manager/owner would ever publicly admit that sexual activities take place on their premises.
  18. But we all heard about the american teacher pedo and the german guy who flew back to germany. Both with 16 yr olds and in trouble. There was more than just the age of consent for sexual activities in those cases you refer to.
  19. Prostitution, i.e. paying for sex, is not illegal, certain specifics of the activity are, though.
  20. duh. read above. He saw the id card. Cant get better evidence than that. Duh. An ID card doesn't provide "evidence of consent", it just confirms a person's age.
  21. In Thailand the age of consent is set at 15 years old. The term "age of consent" specifically refers to the minimum age at which a person is considered legally competent to provide consent for engaging in sexual acts. Individuals below this age do not possess the legal capacity to consent to sexual activities.
  22. That sort of comment never gets old or loses it's hilarious originality, does it?
  23. ...and so you should if you're living in the property as your home and you're married to the debtor who took out the loan for the family's home.
