  1. "There's a private prison in BK for the rich. Nice apartment..." Garbage. And any prisoners in any Thai jail can have food sent in, or ordered the previous day and provided through the prison, even the peasants.
  2. Which one were you in?
  3. Not normal and most likely false/inaccurate/exaggerated information or not the full story. I do know.
  4. If by "you" you are referring to me than perhaps you need to reread what I wrote as I never suggested that I would do it or had done it...... So if you did mean me then that is just a complete unfounded assumption and typical, IMO, of your non- ending irritating nit picking in this particular thread. "If by "you" you are referring to me..." No, I meant "one" but that word looks so pretentious. By "non- ending irritating nit picking" [sic], I presume that you're referring to the 100% accurate banking information that I posted, yes? Funny how contradictory (but correct) information here is seen by you as "never ending, irritating, nit-picking"! Point out where I've provided inaccurate information.
  5. Selective quoting again..... Particularly relevant selective quoting, in actual fact. Perhaps you could indicate what part of my comment was inaccurate selective quoting? They do ask for an address, that address will be checked and being UK resident is a specific requirement. If you can falsify the information that you provide the bank, if that's what you're suggesting, and it works, good for you.
  6. They make no check, you simply need a UK address for the card to be sent to, with no proof required such as utility bills that you actually live there. Don't be so naïve to think that a bank would not do any checks on an applicant's provided address! Regardless of that, Monzo won't allow new accounts from Thailand. Try to log in after they send a login email and the following message is generated (before any personal information whatsoever is supplied to the app)... "Unfortunately we cannot offer you a Monza account, We're afraid we can't go into more detail why we can't odder you an account. We assess every application using the details you've given us". Apart from downloading their app and providing an email address Monzo had no other information from me, yet my application could not go any further.
  7. But what happens if they are not happy for me as an existing account holder of over 40 years to keep my account whilst living in Thailand, they will close it and then i'm ........ That would be your problem entirely if you do not meet the requirements of the bank. The bank did not make you Non-resident, you did it yourself.
  8. How does that help anyone who wants to open a new account from Thailand when they require all applicants to be UK resident?
  9. works fine for me.....a debit/credit card is a debit/credit card when using t'internet, n'est ce pas? Revolut does not currently offer facilities for new applications from Thailand.
  10. Their second page does ask for a UK address, at which the applicant will be checked, obviously. Being a UK resident is not a "theoretical" requirement, it is an absolute requirement for a new account.
  11. If push came to shove, being a UK citizen wouldn't mean that you are UK resident for banking purposes, unfortunately.
