  1. Chaengwattana Immigration yesterday (08.05.2015) was the busiest I've experienced, probably due to the number of public holidays this month. I've been here about 8 times previously doing simple TV extension. My 'usual' wait time is from 45-90 minutes.

13:15 arrived and I'm ticket 134 and queue is now at 44 -

This suggests that from 08:30 to 12:00 they were able to process 44 applications. In the afternoon they were doing approximately 16 per hour. Yeah, that's sixteen with two desks open

I was 134, arrived 13:15 and was processed at 17:45. Got my passport back at 18:45. There's were about 40 people still waiting either to be processed or to collect their passport after being processed.

    fyi

  2. thank you for all the replies and are enforcing in general what I have been thinking in a long time that the once good K Bank is now using very underhand methods to deprive you of your money! Any new ex-pats to Thailand avoid the once very good K Bank!

to be honest,if you have lived in various countries, banks are banks and will always try to push the premium services when opening an account - I remember the first time I was in the UK (Australia, South Africa, Malaysia etc...) and was opening a Natwest account - I just asked for and got the cheapest one available even if it meant the bank employee wasnt going to be my new best friend. Usually my annual bank fee with Kasikorn is 200, but last week I was charged 133 annual fee (not sure why)

  3. Hi

I posted earlier in the week seeking info on the benefit of the card. <deleted>

Today I got an email direct from Villa Mart, which some may find interesting

    Dear xxxx,

    • Convert to Royal Orchard Plus Air Miles
      • 4 Vplus points = 1 ROP mile
      • Just let us know your ROP member number and how many points you would like to convert.
We have checked your points balance and it currently stands at xxxx.
Please do not hesitate to let us know if you have any further questions?
    Yours sincerely,
    Customer Service Team
  4. You accumulate shopping points on the card at the cashier if you show the card at check out. These points can then be used as a rebate on your bill. My wife uses the card for this purpose, I'm unsure whether there are any other benefits.

Thanks - I check next time I'm at Villa - Even when u speak Thai, their employees are below average intellect, so kinda wanted to know before asking them

  5. I remember that Songkhran is celebrated at different dates at 2 different locations in Kanchanaburi - The first being where the farang tourist stay and then the main town.

    Or do I remember incorrectly?

Also any member can recommend where to rent a motorbike (simple scooter) in Kanchanaburi?

Also any member can recommend any quite places within say 50km of Kanchanaburi, guesthouse to get away from it all

    Thanks

  6. .If you don't like the way the taxi is going then walk. There is the Mo Chit BTS skytrain about A 5 minute Tuk Tuk ride from the bus station.Victory monument just A few stops from there.

English spelling is Mo Chit – No its not, ether of the versions are valid

Not sure of your question – there isn’t a question, it’s for users information

Is this a magic tuk tuk that can exit Mor Chit in a magic way? Otherwise the tuk tuk will still have to use the same exit as the taxi, still subject to the same road closures and will have to do the same 3km detour (unless its magic and can float).

And why would someone use a non aircon tuk tuk to get to the BTS station. If will cost at least the same price as a taxi.

  7. MorChit Bus Station - MorChit Mai

Just arrived here this morning and the taxi situation is a little crazy because of the massive road works that are in process. The taxis exit in the opposite direction from normal and end up doing a u-turn that adds about 3 km to the journey (I was heading towards Victory Monument).

If I was to arrive at MorChit anytime soon, I’d prefer to walk to departures and get my taxi from there. Zero queuing and already heading in the right direction.

  8. Clarification

I did the visa run March 15th

Myanmar Immigration will ask for 500 bath but I paid $10. There was no receipt issued. I hadn't used this boarder crossing for over a year and wasn't pressed to pay in bath as regular crossers are.

On crossing back into Thailand, as you approach immigration keep walking on the road and slip in halfway down the metal barriers wheres there is gate. A non uniformed guy ushered me to the front of the line and the process went as the OP said. I wasn't comfortable cutting the line but this is Asia and economic strength is rewarded. Otherwise it would have been plus one hour queuing.

  9. What are you wanting to do at the crossing.

just utilise my 3 rd entry on my Tourist Visa which expires on the 14th. I assume still $10 for the Burma visa. i appreciate my OP wasn't the most articulate, but was just wondering if any current problems etc...
