Sattahip fire could have been avoided
If govt officials actually did their jobs? inspections approvals etc Police involvment instead of Police fund raiding......, doubtless the owner pays them the "monthly fee"
They just dont care ...............like most Thais..........rinse and repeat over and over, they learn nothing and never will, see it in their daily driving habits, narrowly avoiding a rear end collison only to repeatedly do the same 100 metres donw the road.

No you haven't been building houses out in the 40c sun for 10 years, sorry. It might have taken you 10 years to do some simple building project others could do in a couple days (as shown)
You have shown 1 simple project
Pretty arrogant of you to compare that to someone who spends their entire life out in the direct sun cutting crops
Not sure how laying tile indoors is the same thing?
Odd thing is there is no photos of you doing anything?
Wait you want the whole ten years shown...... well ok, well house 6 years ago includes 100metre trench to main house, concreting round the pond by hand, mixed by hand before had concrete mixer, footings for electric gate, footings for ONE of the FOUR houses I built on this plot, building the house for my staff who then left, all they did was mix and tidy still me laying block welding etc.............you want more ok interiror of the staff house after painting tiling etc...........still more , never satisfied eh, talking <deleted> as ususal like many with no idea, one of my two wells all done by me except for the hole drilling, all plumbing by me....... thats just a fraction and then theres the garden 6 rai covered in stone 6 inches deep.yeah that was real fun 20 tons a day spread by hand in a barrow took me months and months, but hey you MUST be right one person could easy do that lot in an afternoon right i mean its only 20 ton a day, day in day out..notice the drainage ditches again did 4 panels a day by hand, re roofing one of the houses with metal sheet..so before you comment feel free to come down and have a look at what "one small project" is.....finally an overview of 10 years almost single handed...4 house 400 trees and associated pipewrok for watering.........yeah easy peasy 10 minutes in an afternoon should do it.............pah you know nothing

Sadly it's indicative of how little there is in the way of real topics/posters here at the moment if you take away the news stories and these sad attempts to generate interest.
Thats beacsue any decent poster over the years has been weeded out to align with their ideologies...

Does anyone know what the latest traffic situation is?
We're due to drive to Suvarnabhumi airport from Hua Hin today and Google is saying 3h 48 min avoiding "road closures on route 35.” (normally takes less than 3 hours).
Anyone driven that way this morning? Is it still closed?

Heres where many make the mistake with ME that I tell them (staff) what to do..I dont Im out there doing it, day in day out for over 10 years, building houses, digging trenches, laying block ,welding roofs, weeding, in 40c sometimes where you burn your knees on the steel but closing in on 60 its getting harder for me, saying that the youngsters have no gumption.
You get used to it and its NOT that hard you just get on with it, first thing I look for in new workers is calloused hands like mine, often theyre puppy soft so i know they havent done any manual work. Its me doing the work the staffs only job is either to mix the concrete ( concrete mixer) and bring it to me or cleaning up tools after Im done.
Only thing I couldnt do was the rendering which I got some locals in for.
Some of the recentish things Ive done built a garage 12 mx4, did everything and finally laid tiles . None of them have much in the way of skills I just want someone to keep it tidy bring and fetch stuff pass me things so their work is often watching me and nothing else, until I need a new mix or cleaning up but its me laying the tiles grouting putting up ceilings etc.

Must have been richer them most .
Many people can only afford bamboo huts .
Bamboo huts where you can see through the "wall"
Those block houses would be luxurious for some and BTW , not a good idea to use one of those stoves inside , can cause death
And those "poor" ALL have a phone, never seen staff without one ever.

Do you really think these folks can afford to travel?
Do you really think I have no experience............right now theres a huge amount of those "poor" conning employers that if they pay ther travel fares down they will come mostly for farm work, read ome of the facebok "wanted " ads for workers............guess what, they get sent the money and dont show.
As I mentioned I have had people on this forum tell me they have someone good for the job, Ive paid the fares down, theyve been useless.
When they do turn up "if they do" they arrive with nothing, want paying daily, which we do, they get through about 2-3 months max then off they go...........later youll find out they have no job again form relatives in the village.

I would think that Thai construction workers would really want the U.Ks health and safety measures and drivers would prefer road safety measures and the whole Country would want breathable air .
The U.Ks economy has been up and down in the last 100 years , as have Asian Countries economies .
The Thai cost of living is just expensive for Thais , those earning 350 Baht per day , as the U.K cost of living .
Thais pay less tax, , but just look at their terrible roads and pavements and schools and everyone taking bribes to supplement their meagre pay , because tax payers don't pay enough tax
No, what Thais want is everything the UK has without the costs

Which are those laws that you are referring to ?
I would say that the citizens of nearly all Asian Countries would prefer the U.K's political system , rather than their own
Start with health and safety, they may well want a different political system but the facts are whilst Asian economies have boomed the Uk's has stagnated. and is in decline for more than a century.........would Thais also want the UK costs of living the Uks laws enforced particullarly on the roads, would the Thais like to finance that through tax as many here dont pay tax at all. The UK is over regulated and stifled to death.

I believe Thais and especially Isan people is not used to work full time, they are used to work seasons, and work little bit here and little bit there, like stray workers ???? A cultural thing
There seems to be an element around here that they work 2-3 days get enough money for beer spend the next 3-4 days drunk then quit, rinse and repeat

Try 200 baht a day where we live in Isaan
You think every area pays the exact same?
And "if" thats the case why dont those looking for work travel then? Theyre lazy + Issan isnt all of Thailand either...Wife is from Issan she knows the scre with the locals up there, she knows all too well including many of her bone idle family.
Seems plenty of replies here are seeing what I see in regards to employment of Thais in general and their work attitude.
As a ps Id be more than happy to take any of those 200 baht a day workers, reality is they probably want 200 to sit on their <deleted> all day.

A: Starmer is only one of the opposition’s leaders.
B: the tories electing truss as party leader won’t be a miracle, just an act of self destruction.
Let’s hope an early election is called before she does too much damage to the U.K. though.
#gotruss
As the UK has been dying for over a century I doubt it will make any difference whose in power, stifled by laws restricting anything whilst Asia laughs at it for its correctness.
