This does not solve the tailgating issue that happens in thailand if one doesn’t understand the concept of safe breaking distance
correct its the old BS of speed is the be all and end all when really its just a money making govt scam. You can drive perfectly safety at any speed if distance is kept, except in a dense area where with the amount of traffic these days is impossible anyway, speed for conditions

But the government claim that over songkran the numbers are higher, so it doesnt add up. And it doesnt add up that it is lower over songkran because it is not lower, it meets the yearly average, that means the same not lower
either way, it does not add up!
Your maths aint mathingid say yours isnt adding up and using their figures which we both know are false but we have to use you cant mix an match theyre saying 40 a day during songkran which is the gist of this argument and then yearly 20k proving by their figures songkran is safer regardless if they say its more dangerous they give out the numbers proving it isnt, they deal with a populace who havent a clue in many cases.
their figures say 40 a day in songkran and 54 out of songkran making songkran safer. and the latest figures back that up, now up to 200 over 5 days and its been like that every year since forever, go back to last year and check and before excepting covid.
nothing more to add.

My Colorado is 4WD and we do have a farm up far NE. I also enjoy going off of the beaten path.
I got stuck on our farm once. But then I put it in 4WD and continued on my way.
In Rayong, the Chevrolet service is at the MG showroom on highway 36.
The Chevrolet service center that I went to in Phuket didn't seem to be associated with any other brand.
yes almost all old chevvy centres are now another brand but retain the servicing side, there arent as many as Toyota ect I think 79 nationwide.

Dead going to hospital doesnt count? I hear that may times, Can you substantiate it? I am not necessarily disputing it, but I have never seen it be more than hearsay
Yes, you dont get my point, you are agreeing with me, despite the fact you appear to be arguingreplied above

That is my point, if we use the 20k number, then they really dont add up
but it DOES add up that SONGKRAN has a lower death rate than a normal day.

I have heard that many times, but never seen any proof of it, do you have any proof, or is it just hearsay? , but agree the numbers are likely to be higher than stated. If you base it on the WHO numbers, this week is lower than average, If you base it on the Thai numbers, this week is exactly average, despite the Government saying they are significantly higher, that dont add up either way
no one has the "real numbers" and the who are as useless.

They most certainly do in Chonburi.
well did they sell chevrolet before? and you did say Ford dealers meaning all. To be fair the info is available for servicing online anyway by all garages although for the full info they have to pay for the files etc I guess, even so you can download a colorado service manual albeit the 2008 2016 model but bar body panel changes a lots the same. Id rather buy a newer model say 2017-18 than a 15 year old plus model of anything, his choice however. Ive seen colorados with over 500000km on, the engines fine

I don't think it is wise to recommend Chevrolet. Since it left the Thailand. 🙂
I regularly hire this guy to work on my house. When Chevrolet was leaving the Thailand he bought one with some huge discount, something like 50%. That car is parked in front of his house for the last 12 months, because it broke down and nobody can repair it. And even if could, it would cost more than is the value of the car. So he went and bought on leasing Hilux Vigo as his working vehicle. While Chevrolet is parked in front of house as decoration.
Plenty can repair them, ALL the old Chevvy dealers who now do GWM can do it they kept the Chevrolet service centres open, all of them. Also many parts are interchangeable with Isuzu d max except the engine

Looking to replace the ancient Isuzu farm truck with something a bit newer. I know that condition probably trumps the brand when buying second hand, but my experience has been all cars and motorcycles, so I'm clueless about diesel pick up trucks ... so wanted opinions on what types of trucks I should be searching for on Marketplace? That will help narrow the search, then we can buy on condition/price.
Basic 2-door manual would be fine. 4 wheel drive would be nice, as would auto, but not essential. No need for a hard top or cover. Ideally standard spec with no fat 'racing' wheels as it will need to drive on farms as well as local roads. Budget around 150,000 to 200,000 THB.
First thought was a Hilux Vigo for reliability and spares availability, but they look to be higher cost than an equivalent age and condition Navara or Ranger. Isuzu and Mitsubishi also seem to hold their prices well, so if I want better condition for the cash should I go for a secondary brand?
I guess a turbo is less desirable when buying a clunker farm truck? Is manual or auto preferable for older trucks? Any brands to avoid, such as Chevrolet?
Tips/suggestions appreciated.
If you are looking for low mileage and fairly new 4-5 years old take a look at the Chevrolet Colorado as they discounted them when they left Thailand and there are some good ones out there with one owner for 250k. Parts easily available engine is good avoid the automatic some of them fail, guess many will say toyota but they hold their prices. 2018 250k https://www.one2car.com/en/used-cars-for-sale/chevrolet/colorado/flex-cab-ปี-11-16?page_size=25

I dont get your point, govt claims 20k year headline says 160 /4 days =40 day my point 20k a year =54 day, the figures are crap whichever way you take them, songkran is safer, The govt says 20k year the govt says 46 in four days.................i bet the 4 days death rate is way more accurate than the yearly, i bet the yearly is way UNDER reported.
Dead going to hospital in hospital doesnt count
For years the figures reported during songkran are actually lower than the average day

Thai government themselves say these are the most deadly days of the year.
They talk rubbish 99% of the time, its about 20k a year but most likely higher , that = 54 a day. Congestion its not about BKK all roads are crap at this time , main road to Hua Hin like a tortosie, same as for going up North Loei etc 162 in 4 days =40 a day
-

None of these numbers seem to add up, According to the WHO, there are about 20,000 road fatalities a year in thailand, which works out to about 55 per day. 162 over 4 days is 40 per day, and yet it is pretty certain that the numbers are higher than normal over the Songkran week. Even if we take Thailands official numbers for 2022. this works out to 40 per day, which is exactly on par wth the daily average based on Thailand own numbers, yet even the Thai government say it is higher during this week. It doesnt add up, Someone is doing something dodgy with the numbers
disagree, the first 1-2 days roads are so congested you cant go fast so reducing the fatalities, then the next few days theyre so drunk they cant drive, then you get the traffic coming back, so holidays should be less dangerous
-
They could solve the ageing problem in Thailand if they only let 60+ years an up drive for the next 5 years

Well perhaps they should also be spending some money on a budget to educate people about online scams. Never click a suspicious link, never give your login credentials for any account to a stranger, and always verify a claim, or a company with a secondary source.
Just today I got something telling me that a package couldn't be delivered, click on this link, and I ignored it, as usual. I guess a lot of people don't have the wisdom, or the discriminative facilities to do that.
I almost got caught on a recent scam, there are many ways they scam , had a compliant with Gulf Air, sent them an email, they send you an SR (service request number and say wait) 4 months an no answer so went to their facebook page and asked them there and like many others who had no reply they ask for the SR number. I gave them the number and they said they will check.
The scam works as scammers go to the facebook page, see your sr number and then send you an e mail saying "complaint gulf air@ gmail.com" the email address just shows as "complaint @gulfair" Gulfair would notn use a gmail acc but they hide that in the reply heading.
They then apologise and offer you a 30% reduction in tickets and to go tell them what dates you want to book for. You reply to the email with dates, they send you back a proper ticket BUT when you check the code online it says "flight not found"
Of course they ask you to pay by either credit card , paypal of another way. Then when you go to that payment it says credit card not working erroro401... use another way ie paypal as its as good as cash. I didnt pay after checking flight number and rechecking their email address.
The scam works because Gulf Air rarely answer e mails and people look for other ways to contact them like I did thru their facebook page thus revealing the real SR number for scammers to use back to you.
