  1. Seems there are loads of companies here that all offer hi-speed interenet, however heard some are more reliable than others. Wanna be able to download movies, Lost, prison break and hopefully live sports streams such as the EPL and cricket.

What speed and what company would you recommend is the best for doing this? Thanks.

  2. Not looking promising as all England Home qualifiers fall under the agreement that the FA Cup come under, which as most of us now has been cocked up completely and left us without any cup coverage so far and all England World cup matches "Not available in Thailand" according to the ad on UBC!!!!

I have emailed head of broadcasting Stuart Turner to see if anything has been resolved regarding this, but I'm not holding my breath.

By all means drop him a line to vent your frustration [email protected]

  3. Mr Walen,

Thanks for the reply, yes I am aware quality is an issue. I would like to go with a reputable company like your own then risk my money with a new and possible "Mickey Mouse" company. But I also have to watch the bank balance. Yes, what you offer is good value for money, I never questioned that. two chunks of 14,000bht would be more manageable than one big chunk of 28,000... Hence the reason i asked the question.

Incidently CMU also offer a 1 year course for the same price as yours (again though full payment in advance) would a Thai course Cert from them look more favourable with prospective Thai Employers?

Rest assured I have watched the growth of your school with interest and fully believe you are doing a good job with your method of teaching. Once you open in Chiangmai be sure to let us all know and I will look forward to attending a demo class.

Good luck and all the best

  4. Hi,

I have recently noticed a company in Bangkok called Thai Language solutions.

They offer a 6 MONTH Thai Language course for 12,500 bht which also allows you to obtain a 6 month Education visa (an initial single entry extended by 90days at immigration)

One of my friends has enrolled with them on this 6mth option and obtained an ED visa without a problem.

However I live in Chiangmai and I cannot enroll with them. I know you are opening a school in Chiangmai soon. I would like to enroll with you when you do that but the fees for the whole one year are a bit much to pay in one go.

Will you be able to start offering a 6month course similar to Thai language solutions in the near future?

  5. Usually 20bht anywhere mate, although if from one end of town to the other and he has to go out there way can be 30-40bht. If inner city though always 20bht. I sometimes go from Lanna 3 condo, near Chiangmai Uni on Huay Keaw to my school near the train station and it's usually 40bht as it's at least a 15min drive and not many people go out as far that way.

Never paid as cheap as 15bht and never seen Thais pay that unless they have a small child with them.

  6. Looking at the table today and the FA may want to step up security if Swansea and Cardiff meet in the Championship play off and Millwall and Leeds make it in the league one play off!!!! :s

Nothing really against Boro apart from the fact they play the most god dam boring football in the Prem! Looking back as to when they had the likes of Emerson, Junhinio, Ravanelli etc.... should have been a springboard for better things. But never was... You just have to compare there dropping attendences with every other club and I think you would find many disillusioned Boro fans who have given up all hope!

  7. Well Manyoo are champs after Liverpool have thrown away so many points this season, fancy villa to nick 4th spot with liverpool and chelsea making up the numbers for 2nd and 3rd.

For me West Brom just haven't got the quality, and would love to see Boro go down.... Blackburn could well just scrape it to safety, Pompey are in free fall and could be the victim of poor board management. Stoke's home form may just see them safe, Newcastle could well bite the dust unless Owen comes back for them in top form, there defence is shocking!

So for me prem downers are WBA, Boro and Newcastle....

Coming up seems Wolves and Brum have got the class to finish the job, playoffs always interesting.... But If Burnley can put together I good run in I can see them being a big surprise package.

Charlton are doomed and Southampton are looking into the abyss! Think Blackpool will join them as they have never seemed to have recovered since the loss of Simon Grayson

The Mighty Leicester are walking League one, MK Dons or Peterboro could well nick 2nd spot. I Fancy Barry fry's men to take the 2nd spot with Millwall going up via the playoffs.

Gonna be difficult for the bottom 3 to claw there way out of trouble now. So Cheltenham, Hereford and Brighton will more than likely be joined by swindon which serves them right for when Paul Bodin cheated Leiecster out of a play off final victory when he dived over in the box after we equalised to make it 3-3! :o

League 2 It's tight at the top in this one, but Brentford and Wycombe are looking good, it's anyone from 6 to make 2nd spot but I fancy Bury to hold on with Exeter winning the playoffs

Sadly and unfairly Luton will be consigned to non-league footy next season. Although despite Bournmouth's 10pt deduction fancy them to save themselves and send Grimsby down with Luton too.

  8. Seems Lee Hughes picked up a few bad habits after being locked up for 3 years! Always rated him as a player but think Oldham will throw the book at him if recent allegations are true!

All kicked off at a meet the fans night. Hughes and club manager Sheridan had a falling out which led to Hughes putting Sheridan in a headlock and the pair of them having to be broken up by sercurity staff much the the shock horror of 150 Oldham fans who attended the event. Not the only trouble at the event either with apprently one or two other altercations occuring throughout the evening...

As bad boys in football go, Lee Hughes probably ranks as one of the lowest but it's not often that you hear of Players sticking managers in headlocks! More the other way around!

  9. No idea what has gone on.... Stuart Turner has gone very quiet, can only assume that he had no good news to tell and maybe some rights issues on broadcasting on the net.

bu all means e-mail [email protected] should you wish to vent your frustrations at yet another blank weekend!

If i hear anything in the mean time I'll keep you all posted for sure.

  10. If you're getting it from a feed via from the Fil' then more than likely on ESPN, at present no channel in Thailand hold the rights to the FA cup due to an almighty cockup with the distribution rights. However it may be on Thai TV or TRUE this weekend I am awaiting confirmation via my contact at the FA

  11. Hi all,

Heading to bali with my Thai gf in a few months trying to pick the best place to stay... Don't like the sound of Kuta much as it sounds like Phuket on steroids, people trying to pull you into their shops and hawkers trying to sell you steering wheels or a 2nd hand band aid! :o

Want somewhere with some nice relaxed bars and restaurants but not too dead. Heard some good reports about Nusa Lembongan... Can anyone recommend anywhere else on the island that would be good? Any hotel names too would be great.

    Many thanks.

  12. Maybe a silly question but surely this doesn't effect extensions on tourist visas? Technichely on this visa you're just a temporary resident and have no fixed address. Surely you would be able to get your 30day extension at any immigration office? This must apply only to those who hav an O B visa or a workpermit for the 90day report, ye?

Only asking as I'm in Chiangmai at the moment, on my departure card I wrote that I am staying at the Bossotel. Due for my extension 21st March but maybe on an island then and want to go to Rayong or Trat to do my extension.

  13. Mr Walen,

A few questions regarding your course and visas....

    1. Bored of going to Laos for my visas, is it possible to obtain the ED visa in Phonon Phen now that the consulate manager has changed there and seems to be a bit more friendly. Surely as I would have the docs from your school it doesn't matter where I go.

    2. Once I have obtained my ED Visa I know I have to report to immigration every 90days to extend the visa. What if I want to go on holiday? Do I go to immigration in order to get a re-entry permit?

    3. If my 90day report is also due while I am travelling on my holiday is it possible to go to immigartion before I leave to obtain the extension so my visa does not run out while I am out of Thailand and also obtain the re-entry permit at the same time?

    4. This leads to my next question; I intend to enroll on your course in June. I may well do some travelling between March - May and this will lead to me missing some lessons. Does this mean that I have lost these lessons for good? Or can I just pick up from where I left off.

E.g I go on my travells after lesson 64 and miss for example 20 lessons do I carry on from lesson 64 from when I left or have I lost out on the 20 lessons I missed while I am away?

I look forward to your reply.

    Thanks

  14. Mr, Walen

Hope you are well, your advertisment keeps saying chiangmai school coming soon, just spoke to a girl in your office who didn't have a clue as to when you will open and when I asked her is it likely to be soon she said "Maybe next year!"

That doesn't sound soon to me.... Care to shed any light as to a possible opening date???

  15. Hi Thinking of enrolling in a Thai course and getting an ED Visa. Been Laos thousands of times and fancy a trip elsewhere to obtain it.

Now Cambodia has appeared to have a change of consulate manager thinking of maybe going Phonom Phen, or maybe Hong Kong or even Beiljing, heard some consulates can be more awkward then others. But surely with education enrollment docs in shouldn't really matter where I go, should it???

  16. Sorry for starting a new thread but the old one has become clogged up and this is new news!

My Source has given me the full details of who owns the rights in Thailand I assure you these are the people depriving us of our coverage!

    dear Clive,

below is the company address and phone number. Its website is Thai language. you can visit at

    You know what to do!

  17. This gets more interesting by the day.... Jintana at the Nation Newspaper has informed me of the Thai company that M-League sold the rights to... It beggers belief that they have been sold to a company with NO previous experience of distributing events through the broadcasting media!

    dear Clive,

The name of the company is either ADAMas or ADAMUS incorporation as I read from Thai language. (There is no english speling from the story I read). It is a media and entertainment organizing company. They organised many foreign concerts to Thailand for example Korean heartthrob Rain. This is its first time that they bid for the football matches' broadcasting rights. My reporter is trying to contact the company.

    jintana

Anyone know who organised the RAIN concert? If so now is the time to start hounding them out!

  18. Seriously guys A) I know for a fact stuart turner is doing all he can to sort this. :o The likes of the british press won't give two hoots about a few of us who can't watch it here....

Sit tight... Fingers crossed it'll be sorted soon. I'm trying to find out which Thai Co. bought the rights from M-league of maybe they are part of M-league.

If we find this out then we can expose them and hound them til something is done

  19. The plot thickens! A reply below from Jintana of the Nation newspaper.

    Dear Clive,

in fact a THai company won the rights to broadcast all the matches I mentioned in my article. It is not the M-league but I'm not sure whether the company is related with the M-League or not. We are trying to contact them. If there is any develpoment I'll let you know.

By the way, I watched the liverpool match from ESPN via the internet. It's a bit complicate as you have to install net-tv client software first. I can give you the link for the next match later. THey will put the link just before the match kicks off.

    all the best,

    jintana

God knows who this company is! But seems like the FA are doing their best. Now it's getting some press coverage something may get done

  20. SGB has seemed to found the correct contact details for M-league, they seem to be the owners of Esprit Media and Astro, who are the cable company provider for Malaysia.

Searched high and low but no e-mail addy for M-League or Esprit Media, have contacted ASTRO to see if they have any details and also spoke to Jintana of the Nation newspaper to see if they could do some digging.

I'm sure this will be sorted before the 5th round. But I'm intrigued as to what M-League are playing at, having bought the rights and not distributing them seems completly bonkers to me!
