  1. Went to a grammar school and learned that, if I didn't know the best phrasing within a few minutes, I should totally re-word the sentence to something that I knew made sense. For example, I might write: That reminds me of yesterday, when my friend and I were playing.
  2. You think a significant number of people were killed by ventilators? Why were they on the ventilator in the first place? Too may assumptions and inferences from things I've not implied. I'm not from the US. Fauci worked directly or indirectly for Trump. I'll give him some credit for at least having the balls to show us how much of a nutter Trump was for suggesting we get injected with bleach or disinfectant, or irradiated with massive doses of UV. I tend to believe the doctors and nurses that were working on the front line and seeing what COVID did to previously healthy people first hand. There were many such cases all across the UK media (left leaning, right leaning and closer to central). The flu this was not (to another poster). Actually there we would be similar, except that I'm on to other things now as I don't have the time to polish my hindsight glasses and shout "I told you so" while denigrating the majority of the world's medical experts with no personal credential greater than a boy scout first aid badge.
  3. ... and the reverse is equally impossible to prove, so what is your point? Do I believe medical experts or some random conspiracy theorist on a minor forum who is apparently "seeking the truth"?
  4. Effectively it already is. The manhole cover would almost certainly show where it was from and any merchant with even half a brain would know that it was stolen. It's the same with cell phones. Really simple to tell if the phone belongs to the seller or not, but that doesn't stop it being easy to sell stolen ones. I don't know the specific law here, but buying known stolen goods is illegal in many places. The person stealing a manhole cover should be held responsible for all accidents related to it, on top of the theft. If someone falls down the sewer and dies, it's manslaughter.
  5. Last year I did the "tell the Fast Track IO that you want a re-entry permit" and was told how to get there after the Fast Track stamp. This year I didn't bother with Fast Track, just went through the left most departure area and straight to the re-entry desk. I was there at around 1am though and could already see that the queues were low. In all it was probably faster than using Fast Track.
  6. If Pattaya is at #12 then I would expect to see the sand in Gandhi's flip flops at #11.
  7. I believe that the country is linked to your payment method. Are you using a US credit card?
  8. Spider most likely broke it down into 8 painless bits.
  9. A decent investigator could get a very close estimate of the speed based on the damage etc. Looking at what's left of the Fortuner's rear end, he was for sure travelling. Those XMax and the like are ripe for tuning. Obviously I've no idea if that is the case here, but it's not difficult and not that expensive to make them go considerable quicker than stock. A friend of mine bought one a few months ago and spent another 150k to make it go "faster". Each to their own.
  10. He very clearly answered your annoying, repeated question. What he didn't do was to give you the answer you wanted to hear, which was "yeah you're right and I'm wrong", probably because you're not.
  11. Riding straight into the rear of a stationary vehicle while clocking around 100mph is a pretty good indicator. Regardless, RIP. At least it would have been instant.
  12. I would agree with you on the semantics, except that Trump says "They're poisoning the blood of our country". (https://www.reuters.com/world/us/trump-repeats-poisoning-blood-anti-immigrant-remark-2023-12-16/). He has said this on more than one occasion. Trump would appear to have no issues denigrating others for acts that he has no issues doing himself.
  13. Yay. The wannabe hub of hubs is now listed as a hub. Even if it's for something they don't want.
  14. Last 2 times I hired a car in the UK using my Thai license I didn't need an IDP. I had bought one online just in case though. June last year. Green Motion, offsite near Heathrow. Beginning of this month, Enterprise / National / Alamo at Heathrow.
  15. I've recently moved to an area where I'm told to expect it quite frequently. Nakhon Nowhere, very north eastern Isan. Previously I lived on the dark side east of Pattaya. Full days without power were in the region of once a quarter, mainly due to new developments and upgrades - lots of new properties being built in that neck of the woods. My average bill was in the region of 10k baht per month. Then it probably isn't a factor for you to consider.
  16. For me, the monetary ROI on solar is only one of the considerations. I'll be installing solar because the quality of power delivered in parts of Thailand is very low (voltage fluctuations, power cuts etc.) Damage to electronic items and the knowledge of no (or at least greatly reduced) days without power should also be factored. Admittedly those might not be factors for others.
