Bangkok Bank ATM cash deposits denied
Lorry replied to dayo202's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I deposited a bit into Kbank today, no problem. But I am not surprised. I mean, just think about it, a foreigner, dirty looking, smelly and sweaty, whose name is dayo - he can only be an unscrupulous money launderer abusing poor innocent Thai banks for his nefarious deeds. -

Finance Foreign Nationals Face Account Bans in Bangkok Bank Crackdown

You ignore that most Thai authorities, including banks, usually use the label "tourist" for every foreigner who doesn't have a WP. (Even PR does not exist in the views of some Thai bureaucrats, there are some hilarious posts about this) All those smug posters full of schadenfreude who think they are safe with an retirement visa, they really think in the eyes of Thais they are something better than a tourist? Remember, what the banks really have always wanted was a WP. BTW, even tourists may want a coffee at Starbucks. Starbucks doesn't accept cash. I bought spring rolls yesterday, could only pay by scan (prompt pay). -
Finance Foreign Nationals Face Account Bans in Bangkok Bank Crackdown

There are no "rules". A foreign friend of mine has been locked out of her account without notice. She has now been to the branch that opened the account, two times. They refuse to give back her money. They told her to go to immigration first... and come back in 3 days (which is a holiday in Thailand). So I called Bangkok Bank and asked, what the rules are. I was told, there are no official rules. They close or freeze accounts on a case-by-case basis. There are no internal guidelines. I also asked Kbank and was told, "we cannot and do not just close or block an account". Only 2 exceptions: police legal action, or less than the minimum balance of 2000B for a long time. So, whoever still has a Bangkok Bank account should keep the balance low. -

In Europe, it is absolutely legal to walk across the border and claim asylum because of persecution. And if you unfortunately lost your passport, they don't know which country to send you back to. -
Report British Tourists Nabbed with 33kg of Cannabis at Valencia Airport
Lorry replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Why are all these stories about Brits? No German, French, Norwegian mules, Is it the selection of news by AN? Or is there something special about Brits? -
Friend of mine, yes. Cannot get at her money in the account, ATM, app, whatever, it's blocked. She was told to travel in person to the branch where the account was opened, years ago. Of course, when she arrived, the branch had closed. They are blocking the accounts of those 2m Burmese, Laotians and Cambodians who are not here on a long-term visa. It's not only the Russians. BTW BP explicitly says, people with DTV will be refused banking (because it's "not a long-term visa", 5 years seems not enough). That will be very interesting.

Health Covid-19's XEC Variant Spreads Like Wildfire, Says Thai Health Ministry
Lorry replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Those 2 years (by which everybody would get cancer from the vaccine) have passed, and on my travels to Slovenia this winter the dead and dying where lying by the roadside all over the place. The dying were moaning so loud I could hardly hear the wailing and lamenting of the survivors. Tripadvisor advises to bring earplugs, and ignore the stench of the corpses. -
My Rosacea Meds do not seem to be available in Thailand
Lorry replied to caligula123's topic in Health and Medicine
I just had someone send me a very innocent antibiotic (pivmecillinam, not avalable in Thailand) from Europe. It never arrived. -

I once got tablets, iirc. Long time ago. Normally you get capsules. OP could bring 100mg or 200mg tablets from the US (it wouldn't look like a year's supply if customs has a look) and use a pill cutter here. -

This would do nothing to "boost your natural immunity", whatever that may mean. I suppose you take this long-term, not just a week or so ? If you really do this (10 times the recommended dosis), I recommend do some "research", i.e. Google side effects of Vitamin D3. -

It's also an attack on other people's life, e.g. on my life. @Sherylonce wrote something similar to "these people have blood on their hands". And it's not that they are stupid. They are evil. A very smart friend of mine, a doctor, is a covid denier, for the simple reason he wants to ride his motorcycle wherever whenever and doesn't care about others. Pure sefishness. As @ThailandRyan posted: Ignoring the facts just means folks don't care about anyone but themselves.... -

Is this personal expertise, expertise from someone you know, or are there studies to support this view? It didn't dig too deep, but it seems to me the situation is maybe not that clear-cut https://www.cidrap.umn.edu/covid-19/scientists-caution-about-cdc-guidance-over-counter-drugs-covid-19 -
Health COVID-19 Cases in Thailand Surge to Ten Times Flu Levels
Lorry replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It is just the other way around: we should get as worked up over Influenza as we are over covid. Unfortunately, like most "people who do their own research" aka laymen, you have no idea what influenza is, and that not every respiratory infection (called a flu) is influenza. BTW there has been a lot of influenza around lately, and those who got it don't like it. Not everything that you can survive is something enjoyable. -
All Vaccines Will Kill You - The evidence is overwhelming
Lorry replied to Red Phoenix's topic in Covid/Vaccine
This is the whole point: there exist a reality, that you cannot argue away with beautiful rhetoric. One or two generations of Americans grew up believing in beautiful words, nice-sounding blabla, where "research" means looking something up in Google and where finance pays more and has a higher image than engineering. ChatGPT tops it all. There are many countries where people still know a real world, outside of Facebook and tiktok, does exist. Societies that are not yet "affluent", and pamper there decadent brats. Thailand, for example. -

Wasn't Fauci the secret CIA mole in the CDC, disguised as NIH boss ? -
I don't see anything unusual in the video.

Unfortunately, yes. And as it is very contagious, as @Magictoad mentioned, your other eye will probably get it a couple of days later, too. Then you know, it was really viral conjunctivitis. An eye doctor can give you steroid eye drops, but don't buy them yourself. They can easily make you blind.

Report Thailand Sees a Surge in COVID-19 Cases: Concerns for Public Health
Lorry replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Thanks for this succinct summary of the story of the covid vaccine. A virus from China (I don't care whether from a lab leak or a dirty market) was contained by America. So, there is still intelligent life in the US - even if what followed in America (and what one can read here every day) makes us (= ROW) wonder... -
Report Foreign Earnings Taxed Under New Thai Rules - But With Exceptions
Lorry replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I would find it plausible (of course, I wouldn't like it). Foreigners have to remit money into Thailand, in order to live on it. So let's tax it. Rich Thais need an incentive to repatriate money. And they are us, anyway. Poor Thais' foreign remittances are 2 groups: those working abroad - let's give them the chance to remit their (probably taxed abroad) wages without (double) taxation. Those investing paltry sums abroad (gf bought Google stock the other day, for about 3 USD) are basically taxed at source.
