  1. Apex was famous. Only 80 Baht for the buffet. But 20 years ago... During Covid the hotel was often closed. Not sure if they opened the buffet again.
  2. I don't think that the seedy nightlife in Thailand has the capacity to serve 40 million tourists. When I look here in Pattaya many bars are pretty empty. Some have no customers at all. Perhaps they are only used for money laundering?
  3. I have been there several times. I don't like the idea that vegetables could still could contain the US Agent Orange from the Vietnam War. And the constant honking gets on my nerves. But I like the beer and the food. I have to forget the Agent Orange then... But it was also used in Thailand: "In Thailand, Agent Orange was used to clear the jungle around bases, as a means to enhance security. However, there was a terrible consequence: Exposure to Agent Orange resulted in cancer, birth defects, and other significant ailments." https://blogs.loc.gov/maps/2019/08/u-s-bases-in-thailand-during-the-vietnam-war-and-agent-orange/
  4. An interesting picture but an explanation would be helpful.
  5. In the original article he talks about the offers for sex and party tourists as of one of the main tourist attractions in Thailand and that Vietnam has for instance no Soi Cowboy, Nana Plaza, Pattaya and Full Moon Parties. I really would like to know how many tourists come because of this to Thailand. These businesses make a lot of noise in every sense and create this unique brothel reputation that some locations of Thailand have. But I don't think they are the main tourist magnet even if the tourism minister tries again and again to extend their business hours. For my former European and US friends these seedy businesses are the main reason to avoid Thailand. Vietnam simply started much later than Thailand. The first US tourists were there to fight and in Thailand to relax. And then the communist regime. I think if Vietnam and especially the Philippines create a better infrastructure for tourists, they would be a very serious competition for Thailand - no need to develop seedy nightlife like here in Thailand to attract a special clientele.
  6. Thank you for your patience with me ????????????. I'm not smart enough to use Apple products... Must stay with Sam Sung. I will change this email address and hope that the problem is solved. Before that, she always had Samsung phones. But her sister works in the US and always gives her her old iPhones when she comes to visit Thailand. So we have to live with it ????????????. The main problem is that I cannot help her when talking on the phone since my Android OS is very different. We always have to meet then.
  7. I am referring to the Apple ID in the link that you sent me ????. Apple calls the email address Apple ID. Also in this strange pop-up it calls the email address Apple ID. Now I am confused. Is this not the Apple ID? https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202667
  8. "recommend putting your money in a safe account. Banks are paying close to 5% now" I meant the interest payments on the savings account.
  9. Just don't forget to deduct the inflation...
  10. Can't edit my post before. But I studied a little bit the really great Apple documentation. Mr. Sam Sung could learn from this... Nothing much happens when I change the Apple ID. It simply replaces the old with the new. In the worst case, she has to log out everywhere with the old ID and log in again with the new one. Please correct me if I didn't understand that correctly. But the other question still remains - why does something like the shown problem happen at all. An idiot trying to use her Apple ID sometimes ????? A hacker that hopes that she allows to use it ?????
  11. The connection requests happen with the Apple ID.
  12. It shows up randomly. I was thinking about changing the Apple ID but I have no idea what problems this will cause because I have no idea what she does with this ID. And I don't see her that often to be able to provide a quick fix then. But if there is no other way we will change it. Always problems and because I don't have an iPhone I can only help her when we meet. I have Android. And she has two iPhones that she uses all the time... ????????????. It is a completely different world than Android.
  13. The US Army also chooses the family-friendly resort for their soldiers to relax and they keep coming back as often as possible. Around 6,000 soldiers will soon be enjoying the family-friendly atmosphere here ????. https://thepattayanews.com/2023/02/15/6000-us-soldiers-largest-number-in-a-decade-to-attend-cobra-gold-2023-in-eastern-thailand-starting-from-the-end-of-february/
  14. I have nothing to do with Apple, the best phones in the world ????????????????. I always buy Samsung because Apple is so expensive ????. But a Thai friend has one and she always asks me when there are problems. Here a new problem where I would be happy to get an explanation for it and an easy fix - without changing her Apple ID. The problem is that pretty often she gets this annoying pop-up asking if she wants to allow a connection with her Apple ID. She has the choice to allow it or not. Does anyone else have this problem?
  15. You want to work in Bangkok? Do you already have a job and a work permit and a visa for all that?
  16. But don't forget to explain to them that many women also wear bikinis at night because it's on the beach.
  17. This is no problem here at this family oriented family friendly family resort for the whole family. Just buy a family-friendly off-road stroller when planning your family vacation in this family-friendly...
  18. And the other 3 weeks? Walking Street, Soi 6, Soi Buakhao, LK Metro,...
  19. "These rankings are based on data from Thai travelers’ accommodation searches during the early part of last year, according to Agoda." There were still very strict Covid regulations at this time. I doubt that many families looked for holidays in Thailand at this time. Below a link describing Covid Testing at Tree Town. A friend of mine was forced to stay in a quarantine hotel here in Pattaya. He is still upset because his insurance didn't pay for this. "Mr. Yuttana Santiprakun, 28, a security guard at the market, told TPN media, “There have been many confirmed cases of Covid-19 at the market, although almost all have been mild or asymptomatic. Therefore, a major cleaning was held today." >>> https://thepattayanews.com/2022/01/19/big-cleaning-held-at-tree-town-market-in-pattaya-active-covid-19-case-finding-continues/
  20. Yes and yes and yes. You seem to know Pattaya. But is Chiang Mai really an alternative given the poor air quality? I think both locations are far from perfect.
  21. Perhaps someone has a better idea. But I would create a normal GMAIL account and move all contacts to this. Send the information to your friends but also update all banks and others that have your problem email address. I would pay the 55.50 Baht for a while and also set up mail forwarding to the new email address at the problem email address. I have the same problem with a normal PO Box that I want to cancel after very many years.
  22. The topic is not about Pattaya. I know. But it is about raiding bars - wherever. I understand your suffering. Really. Yesterday I walked through Tree Town here in Pattaya at about 11pm. Most bars didn't have many customers. If you remove the many ladies who work there it would have looked even emptier. I was wondering how many of all tourists who come to Thailand ever go to nightlife venues and how many of them have a problem if they can't party until the early hours. I guess it's a tiny fraction of all tourists who come to Thailand. Are these tourists really that important for the Thai tourism? So what can be done to make everyone happy? They should create zones were such people can have fun 24 hours without disturbing others. Such areas can also be easily controlled by a handful of police officers. I guess this would be the easiest.
  23. "bbc.com European Commission bans TikTok on staff devices The organisation, which has around 32,000 employees, says the measure is to increase cybersecurity." They want to increase cybersecurity. I was hoping they want to increase productivity.
  24. The people should be able to have fun as long as they don't annoy people who don't want to participate. And here the problem starts. And obviously it is very funny for the water fighters to annoy exactly such people. And this has to be stopped. There need to be zones were people who love these water games can do what they want without annoying other people.
  25. This is one of the big problems here in Thailand. Often there is not much law enforcement and / because the penalties are not severe enough. Understandable that the police thinks that they have better things to do. It is often the same with the nightlife venues.
