I went a few years ago with Thai wife and my UK passport , both visa exempt as far as remember because of ASEAN rule they made for Thais and UK not needing visa .

Don't really benefit most of the island as they are taken to same places over and over and rushed onto the next one before back on the ship . Not to mention the F1 minivan races that will be happening everywhere at Mach 3 !!

So he only gets a 3000 bht fine and that's ok ? No thinking of kicking the undesirable out of the country 🙄

Designated tourist areas ? So does that mean Phuket , Bangkok , Pattaya etc ? As in the whole place or do they mean nightlife areas and hotel bars . If it's nightlife areas then surely some beach side restaurant that isn't in a nightlife area is going to be miffed if they can't sell drink .

So immigration police can't recognise them from doing report when they arrived where they are staying 🙄

Hotel I usually stay at has doubled and I have even seen it priced at 5x the usual rate !! They seem to think samui is on par with Monaco 🙈 Friends I have from UK have came to samui the last 3 years , this year they said the price was far too much so they went to Phuket instead. Just scare people away with greed eventually like they always do in samui.

So no health insurance, overstay on visa or he started a fight and ended up fighting the wrong guy . 🤔
