  1. So you were rejected on a domestic flight showing a Thai DL and forced to show your passport?
  2. Doubtful. Look again. If you are using the DLT app you must also use your passport number. When my MC DL had my old passport number and my Car DL had my current one they had to be entered in the app separately under two different accounts until I recently renewed my MC DL and only then could it be added to the app with my Car DL.
  3. I've used my Thai DL every time. Never once used my passport.
  4. I don't want to hijack the thread but is there anyway to send my mother to the moon and leave her there?
  5. I shred and squeeze all the water from Makro potatoes and pan fry them in a thin "pancake". Not chips but they get as crispy as I want and hit that same savory spot. The trick is to cook them covered and don't flip them for a solid five minutes. Check YouTube for the best hashbrown advice.
  6. Actually I have heard of them asking about Thai GFs before and for some reason, God knows why, they seem to prefer it.
  7. Lucky you. They treat me like a terrorist arms dealer. I have made dozens and dozens of complaints to no avail. Even when I was in the States they once froze all my accounts because a tenant sent me rent. They said it was suspicious. I asked how, they had no response. They also had a special on international wires for $5 once. I tried it and they promptly froze all my accounts again. "Suspicious". They froze all my accounts again a few months ago when I tried to send wires to my daughter's university. They put me through hell on that one. Weeks of my life lost forever.
  8. Cap One blocks everyone of my transactions until I contact them and release the block. They have done it for years despite my constant complaints. It gets rather embarrassing on in person transactions where I have to ask merchants to wait and then run it again. I booked a hotel in Viet Nam and when I showed up the hotel said it had been blocked. It was the middle of the night and not an ATM for miles. When I found one it had no cash. An absolute disaster. When I updated their app they refused to provide anyway to verify to be able to use it.as they refused to use a foreign phone number. Customer service said the only way it could be done was for me to return to the US and redownload the app and activate it there. My fingerprint was not good enough for them. I couldn't use the app for two years until they sent a new card to my NY address that I had FedEx by family to me here and I was able to tap the phone with the card chip to verify. It was literal insanity. The only reason I got the card was they gave me a ton of flyer miles but when I tried to use them they pointed back to the verification issue and refused to accommodate me despite their product being advertised as a travel card. If they asked me to come up with more ludicrous policies I wouldn't be able to. For the record Chase is no better. It took 7 full hours of conversations with 9 separate reps over 14 days to send a wire from NY to Scotland for my daughter's tuition. And every new rep started the entire process from the beginning. They also notoriously block all my online purchases while abroad. I basically had to book every flight and hotel twice or more in some cases. Thank God and everything holy for Wise.
  9. And with that news I'm switching all my accounts from Chase (the bane of expats) to BOA. Can I assume that they also are comfortable using your Thai phone number. I've had horrible times trying to use US bank apps here because they constantly require sending text confirmation numbers and don't have the ability to use my foreign phone number. Please advise. Thanks.
  10. Branches all make their own rules. I have KTB and BKK and notified them both of my new passport. They make the obligatory 800 photo copies and had me sign them all but neither issued new bank books. When I moved from Phuket to Samui and tried to notify them at which time they said I needed to travel to Phuket and have them close my accounts and re open new ones in Samui which of course required multiple trips to Immigration. KTB caved and opened a new account and told me to just let the old one die when I ripped into them. BKK wouldn't budge. Thai bank branches are like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get but it's guaranteed to have nuts.
  11. I don't know if I need six fists up there. Certainly wouldn't be my definition heaven.
  12. Try an antihistamine and nasal spray. Should clear your sinuses. Clean out or better yet avoid air-conditioning. Check your house for mold. Get a good heart rate monitor. I have a ring model that was very revealing about my sleep pattern. I had sleep apnea and the ring wakes me up when O2 decreases. Dropped 15 kilos and stopped drinking before bed and the problem was solved. I have hypertension and bradycardia and when squatting or standing quickly from laying down sometimes I need to equalize as my heart adjusts to the new position. Dizziness is actually most attributable to ear related issues BUT blood supply could be the culprit as well. Sometimes people feel lightheaded but use the word dizzy which are two different symptoms with different causes.
  13. Second for Mr Moo. Yum moo krop was delish. Used to eat in or get takeout there all the time.
  14. I used to go to Mr Moo quite a bit. Not sure if it's your taste but we thought everything was good enough to return. Won't cost you much to give it a try. There's also Stadium Cafe, a pub past the Chalong police station on the left down the road a bit. I liked the food there usually. More of a night spot https://maps.app.goo.gl/Ywins8cpD3cmjfkG9
  15. I "accessed" the tax liability limits from the link in the OP from someone representing themselves as an expert on this topic who countless other members are now using as their source of reliable information. If the links are inaccurate or outdated in less then 24 hours after posting then this signals that it would be literally impossible to keep up to date with credible information and anything else in the original post can be considered to be dubious at best.
  16. I don't know where you come from but in my country I was given end of year income documents from all my sources of income with very specific tax liability information on them. If ignorance of a law is no defense why does Thailand make foreigners sign a document advising them that is illegal to work in Thailand. Can't have it both ways genius.
  17. Precisely. They know exactly where I am. They have my email address and phone number. I just did a 90 report and provided both as I always do even though not required just in case they want to give me a call. They made me sign a very specific form confirming I cannot work here. They never said anything about taxes. If they do I'll deal with it then from that day forward and not retroactively.
  18. Everyone is saying the single personal allowance deduction is 60000 but the link to deductions say 30000. Which is correct?
  19. Women are considered worthless in Thailand. In the US when they run off with your best friend they are considered victims. You choose.
  20. Samui sticks to their roots I can tell you. I needed 4 residence certs for a DL renewal, International DP, a Green Book transfer and a bank account transfer. Used to be able to hand them a photo and flash your passport. Now it will take 4 request forms, 8 passport copies, 4 tm 30 printouts, 3 separate trips to immigration AKA 4.5 hours of driving over two full weeks to accomplish what could be done online in 5 minutes or at least 1 immigration trip and a copy machine set to 3 copies but nope. None of that techno mumbo jumbo going on down here. No wonder the office is jam packed and the office staff is overwhelmed as it should be. This is the true Thai way. Phuket should be ashamed of themselves.
  21. A business class ticket doesn't always assure lounge access. Qatar is one airline that makes you buy a higher grade of business class ticket for lounge access.
  22. Broken relationship followed by tip off to Immigration. Who could've seen this coming?
  23. 70 baht worth of racism is still racism. You can pay my white tariffs if you want. Give me your QR code and I'll have them bill you directly.
